Chinese Journal of Immunology 1999;0(12):-
Objective:To investigate the gene polymorphism distribution of tumor necrosis factor-beta(TNF?) with SLE patient and different race in Chinese Han population of Jiangsu province. Methods:DNA samples were extraced from 168 EDTA-blood of unrelated healthy individuals and 66 SLE patients.TNF? alleles were typed using polymerase chain reaction-restrication fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP). Results:The alleles frequencies of TNF? was higher significantly in Chinese Han population than in the White race;the gene frequencies of the TNF?*2 was higher significantly in SLE patients than in the normal controls(SLE patients 67.4%,normal controls 55.1%,P

Objective To study the roles of the contact heat evoked potential (CHEP) in evaluating the small nerve fibers of cranial and spinal in elderly diabetic patients, and to analyze the feature of the small fibers in order to provide scientific foundations for early diagnosis of diabetic neuropathy (DN).Methods Totally 50 diabetic patients and 40 healthy subjects were included in this study. The diabetic patients were divided into the normal nerve conduction group (n=17) and the abnormal nerve conduction group (n=33).CHEP was determined and thermal stimuli was given to the area of eyelid, forearm and peroneal.Sensory and motor nerve conduction velocity in the upper and lower limbs were tested in all diabetic patients. Results Compared with the healthy group, the N wave latencies were prolonged and the N-P amplitudes were reduced in the area of eyelid, forearm and peroneal in diabetic patients (all P<0.01).Compared with the healthy group, the logarithm of N-P amplitudes were reduced in areas of forearm and peroneal [(1.70±0.10) vs.(1.60±0.14),(1.65±0.078) vs.(1.54±0.15),both P<0.05] and N wave latencies were prolonged in eyelid area [(343.1±18.2) ms vs.(385.4±26.5) ms,P<0.05] in normal nerve conduction group.Compared to group with normal nerve conduction velocity, the logarithm of N-P amplitudes was reduced in peroneal area [(1.54±0.15) vs.(1.44±0.15),P<0.05] in abnormal nerve conduction group. Conclusions CHEP can detect the early impairment of the small fibers in elderly diabetic patients. The early smallfiber impairments in diabetic neuropathy may be axon-oriented in spinal nerves and myelin-oriented in cranial nerves.

Objective To investigate the early diagnostic value of serum neuron‐specific enolase(NSE) in neonaal hypoxic‐is‐chemic encephalopathy(HIE) .Methods Eighty full term neonates with HIE in the neonatology department of our hospital from January 2013 to June 2014 were selected as the observation group and contemporaneous 30 full term neonates without perinatal as‐phyxia as the control group .Serum NSE was detected within 24 h after birth and after 2‐week comprehensive treatment(mainly in‐cluding 10 d ganglioside therapy) .The neonatal patients were divided into the mild HIE in 18 cases ,moderate HIE in 48 cases and severe HIE 14 cases according to the HIE severity .The control group was performed the serum NSE detection within postnatal 24 h .Results The serum NSE level in the mild ,moderate and severe HIE groups was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0 .05) .The re‐detected results of serum NSE after 2‐week comprehensive treatment in the mild ,moderate and severe HIE groups were significantly decreased when compared with those at admission ,the differences were statistically significant(P<0 .05) .Conclusion Serum NSE is a sensitive biochemical indicator for early diagnosing neonatal HIE ,and also reflect the severity of neonatal HIE .

Objective To study the early diagnostic value of olfactory function measurement to Alzheimer disease (AD). Method Detected the thresholds of detectability, identification threshold with pictu.re-based odor identification test in 21 AD patients (AD group) and 21 healthy elderly people (control group), and evaluated the relationship with mini-mental state examination (MMSE). Results AD group was impaired on threshglds of detectability [(1.81±0.75) scores], identification threshold [(2.48±0.68) scores]compared with control group [(1.24±0.89) scores and (2.00±0.71) scores, P< 0.05]. The thres holds of detectability and identification threshold were related to MMSE in AD group (r =-0.50,-0.54, P< 0.01). Conclusion The early diagnostic value of olfactory function measurement to AD is very great.
