Journal of Chinese Physician 2002;0(S1):-
Objective To analyse the imaging characteristics of solitary pulmonary nodules(SPNs) with the spiral CT, and detection clinical values of the definitive diagnosis to SPNs. Methods 32 cases of SPNs were identified by spiral CT, 9 cases of them were examinated by enhancement scanning. The diffrentical imaging features were analyzed. Results 24 cases were malignant in imaging(18 cases were identified), 8 cases were benign in imaging(6 cases were identified). 15 cases of malignant SPNs by clinical identified were smooth at edge; 6 cases of benign SPNs by clinical identified. 5 cases of them were anomaly;4 cases of them were burr;2 cases of them were bronchial sign and vesiclat sign.6 cases of the SPNs were calcified. 6 cases of SPNs(9 cases with contrasting) were benign in imaging, 3 cases of them were malignant in imaging. Conclusion The differential diagnostic of SPNs is difficult by spiral CT, but enhancement scanning and epidemiology combined with spiral CT is very valuable for definitive diagnosis.

Chinese Mental Health Journal 2002;0(10):-
Objective: to compare clinical effect of cognitive-behavior therapy and pharmacological treatment on chronic insomnia Method:48 patients with chronic insomnia were divided into 4 groups, receiving treatments of cognitive-behavior therapy, medication, placebo, and cognitive-behavior plus medication separately All of the subjects were assessed with polysomnogram over night and sleep diary Result:the three active treatments were more effective than placebo at post-treatment assessment On the eighth day of treatments, medication group and combined group showed improvement, sleep latencies were 20 min and 27 min, sleep efficacy were 80% and 82%, total sleep time were 381 min and 356 min, which were better than the results before treatments At the end of 8 weeks, cognitive-behavior group showed improvement in the above three indexes At the end of 8 months' follow-up, cognitive-behavior group still showed better effect in sleep latency 26 min, sleep efficacy 80%, total sleep time 378 min than those of 8 weeks While the indexes of the medication group and combined group could not maintain the effect of treatment Conclusion:medication shows a short-term effect on chronic insomnia, cognitive-behavior therapy shows long-term effect

Objective To evaluate the nse of CT angiography in the diagnosis of hemoptysis and guiding the treatment of it with 64-slice spiral CT.Methods Twenty-two patients with repeated and massive hemoptysis underwent chest CT angiography. Results The blood supply of hemoptysis was nonbronchial systemic arteries in 3 patients, single or multiple bronchial arteries in 15 patients, mixed arteries of nonbronchial systemic and bronchial arteries in 3 patients and abnormal systemic arteries in 1 patient. Conclusion With 64-slice spiral CT,CT angiography provided useful information for the treatment of hemoptysis by guiding bronchial arterial embolization.

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of curcumin(Cur)on trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid(TNBS)induced colitis and to investigate cytokines change in colon mucosa, spleen and sera. Methods Colitis was induced in SD rats by intrarectal injection of TNBS(100 mg/kg).Experi- mental animals were divided into negative control group,TNBS group and Cur therapeutic group(Cur, 30 mg?kg~(-1)?d~(-1),intraperitoneal injection).Expression of cytokines mRNA in colon mucosa was observed by RT-PCR,intracellular cytokines of interferon(IFN)-?and interleukin(IL)-4 in splenocytes were detected by flow cytometry(FCM),concentrations of IFN-?and IL-4 in sera were determined by enzyme-link immunosorbent analysis(ELISA).Results After treatment with Cur,macroscopic scores (3.9?1.0 vs.2.2?0.7),myeloperoxidase(MPO)activity(15.0?2.6 vs.7.3?1.4),mRNA of IFN-?(1.02?0.07 vs.0.06?0.02,mRNAof IL-12(0.29?0.05 vs.0.11?0.01)and the ratio of IFN-?/IL-4(11.44?0.97 vs.0.38?0.10)in colon mucosa, proportion of IFN-?CD4~+(31.7?7.5 vs. 21.1?3.7)and the ratio of IFN-?/IL-4 CD4~+(19.9?5.1 vs.6.1?1.8)in splenocytes, concentra tions of IFN-?[(1528?159)pg/ml vs.(513?14)pg/ml] and the ratio of IFN-?/IL-4(19.5?4.1 vs. 4.2?0.6)in sera were all decreased(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Meanwhile,mRNA of IL-4(0.09?0.01 vs.0.15?0.04)and IL-10(0.28?0.08 vs.0.63?0.12)in colon mucosa, proportion of IL-4 CD4~+ (1.6?0.5 vs.3.4?1.1)in splenocytes and concentrations of IL-4 in sera[(81?15)pg/ml vs.(124?20) pg/ml] were all increased after the treatment of Cur(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusions Cur showed ther- apeutic effects on TNBS-induced colitis, and the mechanism might be through regulating the balance of Th1/ Th2 in colon locally and systematically.

Objective To explore the feasibility of detecting atherosclerosis with 7.0T MR and Micro-PET. Methods Ten 46-week-old ApoE-/- mice with high lipid diet for 6 months were selected to establish atherosclerosis models. Among them, 5 mice underwent MRI before and 12 h, 24 h, 36 h after injection of SPIO, respectively, and the other 5 mice were injected with ~(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (~(18)F-FDG) through tail vein and observed with Micro-PET after 1 h, 2 h and 3 h. The specimens of abdominal aorta were taken for pathologic examination. Results Atherosclerotic plaques were observed in all animals with 7.0T MRI after 6 months high lipid diet. Thirty-six hours after the injection of SPIO, the high signal rings were thinner and the lumen of blood vessels were wider than those before injection on T2WI. Radioactive concentration was observed in abdominal aorta and both sides of iliac artery 3 h after the injection of ~(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (~(18)F-FDG). Pathological examination showed the formation of atherosclerotic plaques and the aggregation of the macrophages. Conclusion 7.0T MRI and Micro-PET can be used to observe the macrophage-rich plaque and to judge the vulnerability of plaque, thus provide theoretical basis for early detection, diagnosis and treatment of atherosclerosis.

Currently, the toxicity study of traditional Chinese medicine is faced with the following problems. Firstly, the evaluation in vitro cannot fully reflect the true state of the body. Secondly, the traditional method is not sensitive enough to the early toxicity. Lastly, the toxicity evaluation indexes cannot determine whether the compatibility of traditional Chinese medicine produces toxicity or increases toxicity systematically. The paper proposed a synthesized early evaluation research method for target organ toxicity induced by traditional Chinese medicine:screening, validation, optimization and application. This method mainly inoolves early target organ toxicity biomarkers in screening, optimi?zation, validation, biological significance explanation, and application to the traditional Chinese medicine incompatibility based on the metabolic dynamic fingerprint spectrum in order to obtain biomarkers of target organ toxicity that are sensitive and precede conventional biochemical indices for early evaluation . We attempted to analyze the pattern of chang of the biomarkers for animals acted by″18 incompatible medicaments″compatibility combination. We found that Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata with cardiotoxicity were compatible with Rhizoma Pinelliae, and that Trichosanthes kirilowii Maxim,Fritillaria,Ampelopsis Radix and Bletilla striata without non-cardiotoxicity produced and increased cardiotoxicity systematically.
