3.How much progress has Blood Research made since the change of the journal title in 2013.

BACKGROUND: Blood Research (formerly) was renamed 5 years ago. It aimed to identify the progress of the renamed journal at the international level based on journal metrics. METHODS: Journal metrics, including total cites, impact factor, and Hirsch index were calculated or found from Scopus, SCimago Journal & Country Rank, and Web of Science on March 27, 2018. RESULTS: The number of citable articles from 2013 to 2017 was 196, and that of non-citable articles was 157. The authors belonged to 25 countries. The editorial board members were from 33 countries. Total cites in Scimago Journal & Country Rank and Web of Science Core Collection in 2017 was 257 and 235, respectively. The cites per two years from Scimago Journal & Country Rank and the calculated impact factor from Web of Science Core Collection in 2016 were 1.353 and 1.382, respectively. The number of citing authors' countries in Web of Science Core Collection was 61. The number of citing journals in Web of Science Core Collection was 422. In 2016, the Hirsch index was 12 for Scimago Journal & Country Rank, and that in Web of Science Core Collection was 10. CONCLUSION: Since the title change, Blood Research has progressed rapidly on the international scene in terms of journal metrics. In particular, the results of total cites, impact factor, and Hirsch index were outstanding. This will enable its promotion as a high branded journal in the hematology category.

4.Analysis of Forensic Sciences Literature in SCIE from 2008 to 2017.

OBJECTIVES:
To analyze the literature on forensic sciences indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) in recent 10 years, and to understand the research status, characteristics and trends in the field of forensic sciences.
METHODS:
Literature on forensic sciences from 2008 to 2017 in Web of Science (WoS) was retrieved. The documents number and geographical distribution, document types, source titles, organizations, research areas, authors, funding agencies, and the high cited articles were detected. The impact factors (IF) of journals were retrieved in Journal Citation Reports (JCR). The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics.
RESULTS:
From 2008 to 2017, there were 21 001 documents on forensic sciences in SCIE. The main document type was articles, with English as the major language. With regards to research areas, pathology has the largest number of papers worldwide, and genetics and heredity has the largest number of publications in mainland China. Among the 18 journals where the documents was published, Forensic Science International ranks the first on publication count, and Forensic Science International Genetics has the highest IF (5.637) in the JCR 2017. In 2017, the number of papers from mainland China increased by 48.50% compared with 2016, which was higher than the global increase (32.63%) and the top-5 countries in terms of number of publications (the US, Germany, the UK, Australia, Italy). The average document count per organization is 1.98 worldwide and 1.17 in mainland China, respectively. The publication number per author is 0.53 worldwide and 0.36 in mainland China, respectively. Around 28.17% of the publications were funded, with National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) as the Top 1 funding agency (192 papers). Among the documents with citations, the most cited publication has been cited for 366 times.
CONCLUSIONS
The yearly numbers of publications on forensic sciences are increasing during recent 10 years. Focusing on the mainland China, there would be more high-quality papers with the steady funding of NSFC.

5.Citation Analysis of The Korean Journal of Internal Medicine from KoMCI, Web of Science, and Scopus.

The Korean Journal of Internal Medicine (KJIM) is the international journal published in English by the Korean Association of Internal Medicine. To understand the position of the journal in three different databases, the citation indicators were elucidated. From databases such as Korean Medical Citation Index (KoMCI), Web of Science, and Scopus, citation indicators such as the impact factor, SCImago journal rank (SJR), or Hirsch Index were calculated according to the year and the results were drawn. The KJIM 2010 impact factor increased to 0.623 in Web of Science. That of year 2009 in KoMCI was a 0.149. The 2009 SJR in Scopus was 0.073, with a ranking of 27/72 (37.5%) in the category of internal medicine and 414/1,618 (25.6%) in the category of medicine, miscellaneous. The Hirsch Index from KoMCI, Web of Science and Scopus were 5, 14, and 16, respectively. The KJIM is now cited more by international researchers than Korean researchers, indicating that the content of the journal is now valued at the international level.

7.Publication impact of the Chinese Journal of Hepatology from 2006 to 2014.

OBJECTIVETo analyze and evaluate the publication impact of the "Chinese Journal of Hepatology" from 2006 to 2014 by assessing academic standards, disciplinary status, influence, communication range, reader usage and reader awareness.
METHODSThe WanFang database was searched and 108 bibliometric indicator statistics were retrieved for the "Chinese Journal of Hepatology", including each issue's papers amount, articles types, diseases, funded projects, references, authors, units, geographical distribution, and publication cycle.
RESULTSFrom 2006 to 2014, the "Journal of Hepatology" published a total of 2 536 articles, with these articles being cited 7 763 times. The values for impact factor, total cites, references to periodicals, citation rate, immediacy index, citation half-life, and funded papers were found to be better than the average level of other domestic journals.
CONCLUSIONIn recent years, the "Chinese Journal of Hepatology" has gained the attention of both readers and authors, and has improved its academic impact.

9.Evidence of the Internationalization of Clinical Endoscopy Based on Journal Metrics.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: This study aims to verify the internationalization of Clinical Endoscopy based on journal metrics after the change to English-only in 2011. The results of this study serve as a starting point for developing strategies to develop Clinical Endoscopy into a top-tier international journal. METHODS: The following journal metrics were analyzed from the journal's homepage or the Web of Science: the number of citable articles, number of countries of affiliation of the contributors, the number of articles supported by research grants, total citations, impact factor, citing journals, countries of citing authors, and the Hirsch index. RESULTS: The number of citable articles in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 was 22, 81, 120, and 95, respectively. The authors were from 11 countries. Twenty-one out of 55 original articles were supported by research grants. The total citations in 2012, 2013, and 2014 were 2, 85, and 213, respectively. The impact factor was 0.670 in 2013 and 0.940 in 2014. The number of countries citing authors were from was 61. The Hirsch index was 6. CONCLUSIONS: The above results demonstrate that Clinical Endoscopy became an international journal, contributing to the propagation of valuable research results through an open access publishing model.

10.Internationalization of Medical Journals in Korea.

To achieve internationalization of medical journals published in Korea, not only the quality of papers but also the style and format of many journals require improvement. For the world-wide dissemination of journal content, it should be published in English at first. Digital object identifiers, electronic international standard serial number (eISSN), high quality journal homepages, manuscript editing, good design and layout, attention to the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals, participation in CrossCheck, a fully internationalized editorial board, and indexing in PubMed Central should be considered for the editorial quality and readability. To increase citation rates of journals, citable reviews and original articles should be a priority. Top-quality invited review articles are helpful, and editors should adhere to minimum criteria for accepted articles. In Korea, since the vast majority of researchers now submit their work to international journals, it will soon become difficult for editors to gather enough submissions if their Korea-based journals do not become international journals indexed in the Web of Science or Scopus. It is time to launch a project for the internationalization of medical journals published by academic societies in Korea. This is necessary not only for the improvement of journal quality but also for the dissemination of valuable medical information from Korea to the world.
