We report a case of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) with trisomy 12 detected by FISH using chromosome 12 alpha-satellite Probe (Oncor , USA) in uncultured interphase cells. Chromosome studies did not produce an analyzable metaphase by standard short term culture and revealed only normal female karyotype by B cell mitogen (phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate) stimulated 96 hr culture. The patient, a 59-year-old female, did not have hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, lymphadenopathy and any other symptoms. The peripheral blood of the patient showed marked lymphocytosis (WBC : 28,300/microL, Lymphocyte: 80%) and the diagnosis by immunophenotyping was B cell CLL:CD5, CDl9, CD2O, SmIg, HLA-DR positive.

Korean Journal of Preventive Medicine 1993;26(2):231-250
Thirty five male Sprague-Dawley rats were treated with cadmium chloride solution ranging from 0.2 to 3.2mg CdCl2/kg by intravenous single injection. At 48 hours after administration of cadmium, total cadmium, MT bound cadmium and histopathologic finding in liver, kidney, lung, heart, testis, metallothionein in liver, kidney and total cadmium in blood were examined. Tissue cadmium concentration was highest in liver, followed by in kidney, heart, lung and testis. Cadmium bound to metallothionein(MT-Cd) and ratio of MT-Cd to total cadmium were increased in liver and kidney dependently of cadmium exposure dose, but not significantly changed in other organs. On histopathologic finding, the most susceptible organ was heart in considering cadmium exposed dose, but testis in considering cadmium concentration. Blood cadmium concentration was increased with dose-dependent pattern, and significantly correlated with tissue cadmium concentration, so that we may estimate tissue cadmium concentration by measurement of blood cadmium concentration. Metallothionein in liver and kidney was increased with dose-dependent pattern, higher in liver than in kidney, and was significantly correlated with tissue cadmium concentration. However, metallothionein induction efficiency of tissue cadmium(microgram MT/microgram Cd) was greater in liver than in kidney, and reverse to tissue concentration or exposed dose of cadmium.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1987;25(2):269-273
Mucasal melanoma is rare and it is one of the diseases of the worst prgnosis. We report a case of metastatic mucosal melanoma of the lip in 50-yearold male with a peanut sized, round, black colored macule on the lower lip, which was metaetasized to the brain and lung for 8 years. Histologically, typical findings of malignant melanoma showed. Chest P-A showing nodular high densities on the right upper and lower lobes and left lower lobe. Brain C,T. scan revealed round nodular densities on the right and left frontal and parietal lobes. In spite of chemical and radiation therapy, he was dead.

We present a case of childhood systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) with renal disease in a 10-year-old girl with multiple, scattered, erythema multiforme-like eruptions on the face, trunk, forearms and lower legs. Serologic abnormalities included hypocomplementemia, high ANA & anti DNA titers, and LE cell test was positive. The histologic finding of the lesion showed leukocytoclastic vasculitis and direct immunofluorescent test revealed linear deposit of IgM at the dermoepiderrnal junction. Electron microscopy showed glomerular subepithelial depasition of eletron dense material in the kidney.

Yonsei Medical Journal 1971;12(1):42-48
Recently, two successive epidemics of cholera were observed in Korea. The first one started in Suhchun-Goon of Choong-Chung-Namdo in August 1969, and the 2nd in Changyoung-Goon of Kyung Sang-Namdo in August 1970. With stool specimens collected from patients in Suhchun, Ko-Chang, Seoul, Inchun, Youngkwang, Chang-hang and Wooljin were epidemic areas in l969, and from patients in Chang-Young, Pusan, Taegu, and Seoul which were epidemic areas in l970, studies were carried out in 1) the isolation and identification of cholera vibrio strains 2) the differentiation of E1 Tor vibrio from classic cholera strains 3) the liberation test of Kappa-type phages and 4) El Tor phage typing. Five strains, which were isolated in the epidemic area of the Philippines in l969 were included for a comparative study. The results are summarized as follows. 1) The epidemic strains of 1969 were identified as Vibrio cholerae, Celebes type El Tor and those of 1970 epidemic as Vibrio cholerae, biotype El Tor, El Tor phage type IV. 2) Korean strains and Philippine strains of 1969 epidemic appeared to be identical in biochemical and serological tests and phage susceptibility tests.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1986;24(1):142-144
Vulva syringomas are rare in reviewing literature. In our case, a 29-year-old had multiple papular lesions involving both sides of the vulva. Microscopically the lesion showed dilated cystic sweat ducts some of which have small comma like tails resembling tadpoles. It is the purpose of this report to present a rare case of syringoma which was limited to the vulva without involvement of other sites.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1987;25(6):827-831
We report a interesting case of malignant melanoma associated with squamous cell carcinoma, A 75-year-old woman has been suffered from a 4*3*3cm sized slowly growing protruding mass for 2 years based on the previous existing black or dark brownish colored round plaque on the left buttock since 10 years. A hard fixed lymph node is palpable on the left inguinal area. Biopsy specimens from the plaque and mass revealed typical findings of the superficial spreading malignant rnelanoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Simple mass excision and lymph node dissection were performed.

Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine 2017;7(10):849-854
Objective: To find the genuine structure with anti-acetylcholinesterase(anti-AChE)from the phenolic glycosides abundant in Leonurus japonicus(Lamiaceae). The assay for anti-AChE activity is often used to lead anti-Alzheimer's drugs. Methods: The five phenolic glycosides, tiliroside, leonurusoside C, 2'''-syringoylrutin, rutin, and lavanduliofolioside were isolated from L. japonicus. The activities of the glycosides were relatively low. Seven compounds including p-coumaric acid, caffeic acid, hydroxytyrosol, salidroside, syringic acid, kaempferol, and quercetin, which are produced by the hydrolysis of the five glycosides, were also assayed for anti-AChE activity. Results: Of those seven compounds, the five compounds other than salidroside and syringic acid exhibited potent anti-AChE activities. In particular, the IC50s of caffeic acid and quercetin were (1.05 ± 0.19)and (3.58 ± 0.02)μg/mL, respectively. Rutin was the most abundant flavonoid in the extract(9.18 mg/g as measured by HPLC). Conclusion: The substances with potent anti-AChE were caffeic acid, quercetin, p-coumaric acid, kaempferol, and hydroxytyrosol that can be produced from their glycosides.
