Analyses were done on one hudred and twenty caaes of bleeding gastric ulcers diagnosed by emergency endoscopy for the past five years. The reaults are as the following: Much more cases were found in male than female and the most prevalent age group was 6th decade. The body of stomach along the lesser curvature was the most common bleeding site. No age related difference was noted in bleeding sites. Most common type of ulcer was in the round and shallow form. Five of six cases with exposed vessels showed atrophic changes in surrounding mucosa. Among the probable precipitating factors, analgesica, alcohols and certicosteroids were found in such order,

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the balloon bronchoplasty in the treatment of the tuberculous bronchostenosis. Balloon bronchoplasty was performed in thirteen patients with stenosis of the left main bronchus (two with combined left upper and lower lobar bronchostenosis) using a inflatable balloon catheter under a fluoroscopic guide. We analysed the changes in the changes in the severity of dyspnea and wheezing, serial FEV1/FVC as a parameter of the airflow obstruction, and bronchial diameter and lung volume on chest radiographs. The extent of pulmonary tuberculosis was correlated with the improvement of FEV1/FVC. There was an improvement of dyspnea in 69%(9/13), decrease of wheezing in 69%(9/13), significant increase of FEV1/FVC in 18% (2/11). The increase of the bronchial diameter and lung volume were seen in 84%(11/13) and 53% (7/13), respectively. The significant increase of FEVI/FVC was seen in 28% (2/7) of the patients with lung involvement of tuberculosis less than one third of left upper lobe, whereas there was no increase in those of more than one third. There was no complication except transient leukocytosis, fever and blood-tinged sputum. In conclusion, balloon bronchoplasty is effective in the treatment of medically intractable tuberculous bronchostenosis, and can be considered as an initial method of treatment.

Treatment strategies for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) syndrome have evolved in tandem with increased comprehension of FAI’s impact on hip joint health. Early intervention, including arthroscopic surgery, has gained popularity due to its potential to delay the progression of osteoarthritis. Arthroscopic surgery has demonstrated significant efficacy in treating FAI syndrome, with robust evidence from randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews supporting its use. Despite arthroscopic surgery’s success, complications and reoperations are not uncommon. The incidence ranges from 1% to 31% and 4% to 13%, respectively.Adjunctive biologic treatments, such as bone marrow aspirate concentrates and platelet-rich plasma, have shown promise in chondral lesion management. However, robust evidence supporting their routine use in FAI syndrome is currently lacking. Among conservative treatment methods, intra-articular injections offer diagnostic and therapeutic benefits for FAI patients. While they may provide pain relief and aid in prognosis, their long-term efficacy remains a subject of debate. Comparative studies between conservative and arthroscopic treatments highlight the importance of personalized approaches in managing FAI syndrome. In conclusion, recent advancements in FAI syndrome management have illuminated various treatment modalities. Arthroscopic surgery stands as a pivotal intervention, offering substantial benefits in pain relief, function, and quality of life. However, careful patient selection and postoperative monitoring are crucial for optimizing outcomes. Adjunctive biologics and intra-articular injections show promise but require further investigation. Tailoring treatment to individual patient characteristics remains paramount in optimizing FAI syndrome management.

Pityriasis lichenoides Chronica is a cutaneous disorder of unknown etiology and characterized pathologically by vasculitis and clinically by its marked chronicity and lack of specific treatment. Emollient-phototherapy is a recently introduced effective treatment for psoriasis. The authors treated 3 patients with pityriasis lichenoides chronica by the emollient-phototherapy technic with quite satisfactory results.

Alveolar soft-part sarcoma is a rare soft tissue sarcoma of young adults with unknown histogenesis, and the organ most frequently involved in metastasis is the lung. We report the CT findings of three patients of pulmonary metastases of alveolar soft-part sarcoma, which manifested as clearly enhanced pulmonary nodules or masses. On enhanced scans, some of the masses were seen to contain dilated and tortuous intratumoral vessels.

Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma is a carcinoma that shows histologic evidence of arising in or from a preexisting benign mixed tumor. We experienced a case of carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma arising in the hard palate with neck metastatasis. The patient was 48-year-old male presenting ovoid elevated palatal mass that has been present for 25 years and rapid growing left neck mass for 3 months. The overlying mucosal surface was ulcerated. The tumor was well marginated but focally tightly adherent to the adjacent tissue. The initial pathologic diagnosis of open biopsy specimen was invasive squamous cell carcinoma. After the total removal, the histologic examination revealed that the tumor was composed of adenosquamous carcinoma and benign pleomorphic adenoma. The adenosquamous carcinoma, where grandular and epithelial differentiation were seen in the same clump of cells, showed extensive stromal hyalinization with necrosis and calcification. The metastatic neck lesion showed only squamous cell carcinoma component without adenocarcinoma. We present a case of an unusual carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma with adenosquamous cell carcinoma in the hard palate and neck metastasis.

Fixed implant prosthesis and removable implant overdenture are the main treatment options for treating edentulous maxilla with implants. If clinicians select one of the treatment options without accurate diagnosis and evaluation, this may lead to unfavorable treatment result and one would not be able to guarantee successful long term prognosis. In this case, 69 year-old female presented with failed fixed implant prosthesis that was treated in private dental clinic. Since the patient did not want additional insertion of implants and considering factors such as oral hygiene maintenance, splinting effect, and esthetics, the patient was treated with removable implant bar type overdenture using pre-existing implants. The clinical results were satisfactory in the aspect of esthetics and masticatory function, oral hygiene maintenance.
