1.Relationships bttween Corneal Curvatures and Refractive Errors in Korea.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1977;18(1):39-44
The purpose of this stastical evaluation was to detect the differences or relationship between the diopters and corneal curvature. The objects were 1761 eyes (890 persons) visited to the eye department, Kyung Hee University Hospital during 22 months from June 1974 to April 1976, of which refractive power was myopic over minus 1 diopter by skiascopy. It was stastically analyzed the relationships between the diopters and curvatures of the cornea, mean and standard deviation, standard error, coefficient of variation, and coefficient of correlation which were obtained by means of student-t test. The following-results were obtaind; 1) The consistent differences in the mean values of horizontal curvature and those of vertical curvature by each diopter were proved to be significant (p<0.05). 2) There were no differences in the horizontal curvature to each diopter (not significant). 3) The differences in the means of vertical curvature between each diopters of the -1.00 ~ 6.75D. was not significant. But the differences between the diopters of the -7.00 ~ -18.00D. and the -1.00 ~ -6.75D. was significant. 4) Dividing the samples by groups of -1.00 ~ -2.75D. (A), -3.00 ~ -6.75D. (B), and -7.00 ~ -18.00D. (C), the differences in the horizontal curvatures between these 3 groups were not significant. 5) The differences in the vertical curvature between group-A and group-B were not stastically significant. But there were significant either between group-B and group-C or between group-A and group-C (p<0.05).

Pelvic bone is complex in its shape, so we often miss to find the fractures in cases with unclear fracture line. We studied 25 patients who were suspected to have occult fractures in pelvic area. We were able to find lots of occult fractures with bone scan followed by CT scan. The results were as follows; 1. There were 31 unexpected hot spots in 25 patients in bone scan. 2. Six cases (19.3%j of new injuries were found on re-evaluation of plain film or additionally rechecked plain films. 3. Twenty-one new fractures (67.7%) were found on CT film study. 4. Total 27 additional fractures (89.1%) were found after bone scan followed CT scan. In conclusion Bone Scan followed by CT is a effective method of detecting occult fracture in pelvic area.

3.A Case of Frontal Sinusitis with Ocular Deviation.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1975;16(4):425-428
Last spring, we experienced a case of frontal sinusitis with ocular deviation to lower lateral direction. This 49 year old male had complained of the ocular deviation with exophthalmos, visual disturbance and diplopia, since 5 months before. This case was recovered by external sinusotomy through superior nasal approach with remarkable results.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1977;18(1):97-100
We have experienced a rare case of bilateral retinoblastoma in identical twins recently. Their mother noticed that elder sister gazed upward when she fixated some object 5 days ago. On visiting here, we could find out retinoblastoma in both eyes by ophthalmoscopic examination, and younger sister had same fundus. Therefore we enucleated both eye balls of elder sister because of aggrevation of retinoblastoma. Retinoblastoma was confirmed pa thologically. We have been following up periodically younger sister.

Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 2000;18(4):386-389
BACKGROUND: Seasonal variations in the occurrence and mortality from stroke patients has been widely acknowl-edged and studied extensively but without conclusive results. Several studies suggest a circannual rhythm for stroke, with a peak onset and mortality in the winter. We aimed to identify the seasonal variations of monthly admissions and mortality in stroke patients. METHODS: From 1989 to 1998, 2526 first stroke populations were enrolled in this study, which included ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients. Fatal events were defined as those in which the patient died within 28 days after the beginning of symptoms. We analyzed the seasonal variations of monthly admissions and mor-tality in stroke patients. RESULTS: We concluded that the monthly admissions and mortality rate of stroke patients showed seasonal variations. Monthly admissions for stroke was highest in December and lowest in August. Also, the mortality rate was highest in November (4.1%) and lowest in July (2.4%). Major causes of death were herniation, sepsis due to pneumonia, urinary tract infection, sore, and cardiovascular diseases including congestive heart failure and myocardial infarction. CONCLUSIONS: There were greater monthly admissions and mortality of strokes during the winter season in our hospital.

Yonsei Medical Journal 1988;29(2):199-203
A dermoid cyst of the head and neck region is a relatively infrequent occurrence and accounts for only 6.9% of all dermoid cysts. Its anatomical distribution is the orbit, floor of the mouth, other midline and nose in the order of frequency. A dermoid cyst of the parotid gland is extremely rare, and due to this and the absence of pathognomonic findings, it is often difficult to diagnose preoperatively. Thus thorough and careful examination including ultrasonic study is needed to evaluate this lesion. It must be differentiated from malignant tumors and other cystic lesions. Dermoid cysts usually recur after simple excision, so it is mandatory to excise it completely with a parotidectomy. This paper presents two cases of parotid gland dermoid cyst with a brief review of the literature.

The Korean Journal of Helicobacter and Upper Gastrointestinal Research 2023;23(1):63-67
Gastric subepithelial tumors (SETs) are usually asymptomatic and are often detected incidentally during screening endoscopy. A gastric inverted hyperplastic polyp (IHP) is characterized by downward growth of hyperplastic mucosa into the submucosal layer. Owing to these characteristics, a gastric IHP is frequently misdiagnosed as a SET. Gastric IHPs are asymptomatic in most cases and are discovered incidentally. Notably, IHPs may be accompanied by an adenocarcinoma or anemia owing to chronic bleeding associated with this lesion; therefore, endoscopic submucosal dissection is recommended for complete excision of IHPs measuring > 2 cm. We report a case of gastric IHP that was diagnosed during screening endoscopy in an asymptomatic patient. We observed a whitish purulent exudate expressed from the SET, and endoscopic ultrasonography revealed a SET originating from the muscularis mucosa. Endoscopic submucosal dissection was performed to remove the SET, and final histopathological findings revealed a gastric IHP. This case report highlights that IHPs should be suspected in patients with a SET associated with whitish exudates.
