OBJECTIVES: This study was performed to compare health value cognition and health promotion behavior compliance between healthy group and not being healthy group, and to evaluate the difference of health promotion behaviors compliance between high group and low group in health value cognition. METHODS: The subjects of this study were 565 workers, 233 healthy workers, 172 observation cases and 160 disease cases, selected from 4,919 transit coporations workers. RESULTS: In health promoting behavior compliance, not being healthy group showed lower level than healthy group in exercise and showed higher level than healthy group in interpersonal support significantly. A worker who replied on health as the most value in life was consisted in 37.3% of healthy group and 36. 1% of not being healthy group, Health value cognition according to general characteristics showed no significant difference except only variable of age in healthy group. Health promoting behavior compliance according to cognition of health value showed in healthy group that a high level group of health value cognition was more significant difference than a low level group in self actualization and health responsibility of health promoting behavior and didn't show difference significantly in not being healthy group. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, the relationship between health value cognition, health promotion behavior compliance and periodic health examination results showed weakly. Therefore, in order to develop and apply spontaneous health promotion program, it was considered that should emphasize compliance than cognition.

Mirizzi syndrome is an uncommon cause of obstructive jaundice. It consists of the following elements: (1) an anatomic arrangement of the cystic duct such that it lies almost parallel to the common hepatic duct, (2) impaction of a gallstone in the cystic duct or neck of the gall bladder, (3) partial mechanical obstruction of the common hepatic duct by the stone itself or the resulting inflammatory reaction, and (4) recurrent cholangitis or ultimately cholangitic cirrhosis due to the partial obstruction. Midtrimester genetic amniocentesis has been a gold standard for prenatal diagnosis in antenatal care since last 25 years. After the triple serum marker test was introduced as a prenatal screening method for Down syndrome, the frequency of genetic amniocentesis was increased. OBJECTIVE: To determine the complication, risk of amniocentesis and detection rate of chromosomal abnormality. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective clinical analysis of 1,064 midtrimester genetic amnicentesis in IL Sin Christian Hospital antenatal clinic from Jan 1995 to Dec 1997. Chi square test was used for the statistical analysis and p value < 0.05 was considered significant. RESULTS: Amnicentesis were significantly increased in the age of 35-39 yrs and 40yrs over. And also the incidence of chromosomal abnormality was higher than younger age group. The indications of amnicentesis were screen positive of triple marker test(43%), advanced maternal age(20.8%), abnormal beta-hCG level, past history of chromosome abnormality or malformed baby and abnormal alpha-FP level in order. Total number of chromosomal abnormalities was 30 and the incidence of chromosomal abnormalities was 2.8%(30/1,064). The complications were developed in 13 cases and fetal loss rate was 0.78%(9/1,064). CONCLUSION: The detection rate of chromosomal abnormality in midtrimester amnicentesis for prenatal diagnosis was high and relatively safe procedure but, we should be attention to more careful manipulation.

The diagnosis of painful hips of the children are very difficult in their early stage of diseases. Transient synovitis, Legg-Calve-Perthes' diseas juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and pyogenic hip are very similar in clinical manifestation and plane radiology. But the treatment methods and prognoses are very different, so it is very important to make an accurate diagnosis and differential diagnosis as early as possible. In the above mentioned diseases hip joint effusion is one of common manifestations, so we studied the hip joint effusion by ultrasonography in 49 children with painful hips and also we studied both hips of healthy children to determine the criteria of the normal hip joint. And the results are summerized as follows: l. Ultrasonography was very good method for detection of hip joint effusion. 2. In healthy children, the average bone-to-capsule distance was 2.95mm. 3. In children patients with unilateral painful hip, the average bone-to-capsule distance was 2.96mm, so it was very similar to that of healthy children. 4. The difference more than 2mm between both hips was abnormal. 5. In 49 children with painful hips, over all positive rate was 63.3%.

Injury of the tarsometatarsal joints is known to be very uncommon. Injury was most frequently seen as the result of high energy trauma and appear to be occuring more frequently. Early recognition was imperative, since significant long-term disability can result from inadequate treatment. We have reviewed and clinically anafysed 14 cases of tarsometatarsal Fracture-Dislocation treated at our clinic during the period frrqn March 1980 to March 1985. The following result were obtained. 1. Majority of cause of injury was traffic accidents in 10 cases(71%). 2. According to the Wilsons classification, First stage of supination was most common. 3. Associated injuried was 92%. 4. There was no significant difference between operative treatment and conservative treatment.

Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2011;20(2):185-194
PURPOSE: Global shortages in nursing and strong demand for nursing services provided Korean nurses with more overseas employment opportunities, especially in the developed countries such as the United States and Canada. The purpose of this study was to explore the ageing experiences of the Korean nurses dispatched to Germany in the 1960s and 1970s. METHODS: The researcher interviewed 10 Korean nurses living in four cities in Germany. Interviews were performed twice in January and July, 2010, and the data, in the form of field notes and interview transcripts, were analyzed using the Agar's (1980) ethnographic method. RESULTS: The ageing experiences of the participants can be summarized into three theme stages: coming upon old age, reluctantly realizing getting old, and finally accepting being old. The first stage is characterized by 'wiring money to homeland all throughout youth,' second 'still feeling like a stranger anywhere,' and finally 'burying homeland in heart.' CONCLUSION: The research findings not only suggest crucial materials for training prospective nurses overseas for their successful settlement, but also shed lights on related problems and solutions with ageing experience in overseas employment.
