T. verrucosum Infection has been reported for the first time in 1986 in Korea and has been increasing progressively. To evaluate the progress of clinical and histopathological change of dermatophytosis caused by T. verrucosum, inoculation study, using T. verrucosum isolated from infected human (human strain) and from infected cattle (cattle strain), was done in 24 male albino Hartley guinea pig. Their clinical and histopathological changes were evaluated. In addition, comparison for the growth rate between human strain and cattle strain on Sabouraud's glucose agar was made. The results were as follows: 1. Growth rate on Sabouraud's glucose agar: Cattle strain showed significantly more rapid growth rate than human strain on Sabouraud's glucose rate at 25℃ and 37℃. And cattle strain showed more rapid growth rate at 37℃ than 25℃. But human strain showed no significant difference of growth rate at both temperature. 2. Clinical findings: Initial erythema, scale and crust were developed about 8th after inoculation. All three findings reached maximum severity about 12th to 16th day and disappeared about 30th to 34th day after inoculation. There was no significant difference in progress of erythema, scale and crust between cattle strain and human strain. 3. Histopathological findings: Although mild acanthosis was noticed on the 3rd day after inoculation, the other findings including parakeratosis, intraepidermal abscess, spongiosis and vascular change, cellular infiltration were found on 9th day after inoculation. They reached maximum severity on the 12th day and lasted to the 25th day after inoculation. After that, all three findings were decreased gradually between 29th day and 33th day. On the PAS staining, hyphae and spores were found on the 6th day and disappeared on the 21th day after inoculation. 4. In trichophyton skin test, all of the 24 guinea pigs became positive within average 9.83±1.17 days These findings suggested that dermatophytosis caused by T.verrucosum induced rapid cell mediated immunity and contributed to rapid resolution of the lesion.

We have reserched the relationship of their clinical pictures and factors related to the risk of recurrence of 75 patients with simple or complex febrile convulsions, who were admitted to the Departmenrt of Pediatrics, Chungnam National University Hospital from January 1987 to July 199. The 75patient were followed up and consisted of the 55 patients with initial or non-recurrent febrile convulsions and the othere 20 patients with recurrent febrile convulsions. The results were of follows; 1) The age of first episodes was under the 6 years in 94.6% and the first episode under the 12 months was 14.6% in initial cases and 55% in recurrent cases. 2) There were family history of convulsive disorder in 40% of recurrent cases, compared to 10.9% of initial cases. 3) In gestational age, there was no significant difference between initial and recurrent cases. 4) In sex distribution, the boys (66.7%) outnumbered the girls(33.7%) and the ratios was 2:1. Among the recurrent cases of 20 patients, the boys(90%) were much more than the girls(10%). 5) The patients of low birth weight had more febrile convulsions than large birth weight in both initial and recurrent cases. 6) There was no significant difference between initial and recurrent cases in the causes of febrile convulsion. 7) In abnormal EEG findings, recurrent cases were 30% more than 7.3% of initial cases. 8) There was no significant difference of number of seizure during a day in both initial and recurrent cases 9) In episodes of duration over 15 minutes, recurrent cases were 40% more than 23.7% of initial cases. 10) The resident of urban was 78.6% and of rural was 21.4%. 11) The types of convulsion were generalized in 92% of total cases and focalized in 8%. In the focal types, recurrent cases (15%) were much more than initial cases (5.5%). 12) In occurrence of seizures in body temperature above 40 degrees C, it was 5.5% in initial cases, whereas it was 20% in recurrent cases. 13) 13) There was no significant difference between initial and recurrent cases on fever duration before seizure.

AI-driven image reconstruction techniques have significantly reduced scan times while preserving image quality. This method outperforms traditional parallel imaging and compressed sensing. AI has also shown great promise for lesion classification and segmentation, with convolutional neural networks and U-Net architectures improving the differentiation between benign and malignant lesions. AI-based segmentation methods enable accurate tumor detection and characterization, thereby aiding personalized treatment planning. An AI triaging system has demonstrated the potential to streamline workflow efficiency by identifying low-suspicion cases and reducing the workload of radiologists. Rehmannia glutinosa is a perennial medicinal plant belonging to the family Scrophulariaceae with more than 300 species known in the world, especially in temperate regions. Its roots have been used widely in Korea for medicinal purposes. However, it is commonly infected by various pathogens during storage, causing great damage to the roots, and impedes the intensive farming of the crop. Therefore, an attempt has been made to isolate and screen a resistance gene against the pathogen Fusarium oxysporum using differential display. We treated salicylic acid (SA), and isolated a resistance gene that responds to SA. As a result, we found that SA was involved in plant defense mechanism in pathogenicity tests with SA treated and non-treted plants, and we isolated a partial PR-la gene through differential display polymerase chain reaction (DD-PCR) method.

To elucidate the clinical avaiability of FNAB, we reviewed retrospectively medical records of 30 patients who had infiltrative pulmonary lesion or pulmonary nodule or mediastinal mass, and got percutaneous fine needle aspiration biopsy using Westcott needle, 20~22 gauge, at the department of Pediatrics, Hanyang university hospital from July, 1986 to June, 1993. The obtained results were as follows: 1) There were 30 patients, aged 6 months to 15 years. 2) There were 17 male patients and 13 female patients with sex ratio of 1.3:1 3) Among 30 cases, we discovered 16 cases of infiltrative lesions, 7 cases of pulmonary nodules and 7 cases of mediastinal mass lesions. In mediastinal there were 4 cases of anterior mediastinum and 3 cases of posterior mediastinum. 4) Overall success rate on fine needle aspiration biopsy was 60% (18/30). The success rate was 50% (8/16) in infiltrative lesions, 50% (8/15) in pulmonary nodules and 71% (5/7) in mediastinal mass lesions, respectively. 5) Eight infiltrative lesione were diagnosed as Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia. Five pulmonary nodules were diagnosed as aspergillosis (2 cases), tuberculosis (1 case), mucormycosis (1 case), lung metastasis of metastasis of neuroblastoma (1 case). Five mediastinal mass lesions were diagnosed as teratoma (2 cases), lymphoma (1 case), malignant neurogenic tumor (1 case), ganglioneuroblastoma (1 case). 6) The complications occured in 20% (6 cases) among 30 procedures. All cases were due to pneumothorax: 3 cases spontaneously resolved, and 3 cases needed chest tube insertion. There were no death related with this procedures.
