Korean Journal of Rehabilitation Nursing 2017;20(2):151-163
PURPOSE: This study was to analyze health behavior adherence and identify affecting factors on the duration of the hypertension diagnosis. METHODS: A total of 154 patients of hypertension participated in this study. Data were collected from October to December, 2013 and analyzed using frequency, t-test, ANOVA, multiple linear regression. RESULTS: The scores of health behavior adherence and hypertension knowledge in incidental hypertension patients were 82.23±9.69, 17.86±4.33, respectively. In the treated hypertension patients, the scores of health behavior adherence were 89.30±10.17 and hypertension knowledge were 18.54±3.89. The selected independent variables explained 34% of the health behaviors in the incidental hypertension patients and 36% of the health behaviors in the treated hypertension patients. The regression models were statistically significant (F=4.37, p < .001, F=4.45, p < .001). Among selected potential influencing factors, age (β=.423, p < .001), smoking habit (β=−.227, p=.038), obesity (β=.369, p=.030), hypertension knowledge (β=.281, p=.007), coping strategies (β=.261, p=.015). affect health behavior adherence in the incidental hypertension. In the treated hypertension patients were age (β=.362, p=.007), sex (β=−.396, p=.004), smoking habit (β=−.245, p=.022), perceived health status (β=−.238, p=.035) affect health behavior adherence. CONCLUSION: There was difference about health behavior adherence between newly diagnosed and treated hypertension patients. So different approaches for incidental and treated hypertensive patient need to improve health behavior through tailored nursing intervention.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1997;31(9):891-894
Benign hemangioma of the mediastinum is rare. This slowly growing tumor is described as well circumscribed, cystic, hemorrhagic tumor. Histologically it can be differentiated into capillary or cavernous form. We present a case of mediastinal hemangioma. A 20-year-old-man was presented with a slowly growing posterior mediastinal mass of 6 years duration, 8x6 cm in size. The mass was relatively well defined but focally invasive. Microscopically, it was differentiated into vessels of capillary, cavernous, and venous patterns. A solid cellular proliferation with inconspicuous capillary lumens was focally seen. The stroma between variable-sized vessels showed marked myxoid change associated with some smooth muscle bundles and adipose tissue. Ultrastructurally, areas of solid cellular proliferation showed formation of lumens. These lumens were lined by active endothelial cells showing plasmalemmal vesicles and Weibel-Palade bodies on the abluminal surface.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1997;31(1):34-39
Renal dysplasia results from aberrant histogenesis in metanephric differentiation. It is characterized morphologically by abnormal organization and a persistence of primitive structures, such as cartilage, undifferentiated mesenchyme, and immature tubules. Six cases of renal dysplasia from five children and one adult are reviewed. Five patients were female and one patient was male. The chief complaint was urinary incontinence in four patients, dysuria in one patient, and the sixth patient suffered from vesicoureteral reflux. No evidence of family history of renal dysplasia in any patient was seen. According to Risdon's classification, three cases were hypoplastic dysplasia, one case was dysplasia in a duplex system, one case was dysplasia in a triplex system, and one case was dysplasia with vesicoureteral reflux. The ipsilateral ectopic ureteral orifice was identified in four patients, two of which drained into a Gartner's duct cyst, and the orifice was suggested in one patient. On histologic examination, all cases showed primitive ducts surrounded by concentrically arranged primitive mesenchyme. Nests of metaplastic cartilage were observed within the stroma in three of the six cases.

Purpose:
This study aimed to understand the keywords and major topics of the educational goals and objectives of nursing educational institutions in South Korea.
Methods:
From May 10 to May 20, 2022, the educational goals and objectives of all 201 nursing educational institutions in South Korea were collected. Using the NetMiner program, degree and degree centrality, semantic structure, and topic modeling were analyzed.
Results:
The top keywords and semantic structures of educational goals included ‘respect for human (life)-spirit-science-based on, global-competency-professional nurse-nursing personnel-training, professional-science-knowledge-skills, and patients-therapeutic care-relationship.’ The educational goals’ major topics were clients well-being based on science and respect for human life, a practicing nurse with capabilities and spirit, fostering a nursing personnel with creativity and professionalism, and training of global nurses. The top keywords and semantic structures of the educational objectives included ‘holistic care-nursing-research-action-capability, critical thinking-health-problem solving-capability, and efficiency-communication-collaboration-capability.’ The educational objectives’ major topics were ‘nursing professionalism, communication and problem-solving capability; a change of healthcare environments and a progress of nursing practices; fostering professional nurses with creativity and global capability; and clients’ health and nursing practice.’
Conclusion
Educational goals in nursing presented specific nursing values and concepts, such as respect for human life, therapeutic care relationships, and the promotion of well-being. Educational objectives in nursing presented the competencies of nurses as defined by the Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing Education (KABONE). Recently, the KABONE announced new program outcomes and competencies, which will require the revision of educational goals. To achieve those educational objectives, it is suggested that the expected level of competencies be clearly defined for nursing graduates.

Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2019;49(1):26-35
PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to identify the predictive validity of the Korean Triage and Acuity Scale (KTAS). METHODS: This methodological study used data from National Emergency Department Information System for 2016. The KTAS disposition and emergency treatment results for emergency patients aged 15 years and older were analyzed to evaluate its predictive validity through its sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value. RESULTS: In case of death in the emergency department, or where the intensive care unit admission was considered an emergency, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of the KTAS were 0.916, 0.581, 0.097, and 0.993, respectively. In case of death in the emergency department, or where the intensive or non-intensive care unit admission was considered an emergency, the sensitivity, specificity, and positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were 0.700, 0.642, 0.391, and 0.867, respectively. CONCLUSION: The results of this study showed that the KTAS had high sensitivity but low specificity. It is necessary to constantly review and revise the KTAS level classification because it still results in a few errors of under and over-triage. Nevertheless, this study is meaningful in that it was an evaluation of the KTAS for the total cases of adult patients who sought help at regional and local emergency medical centers in 2016.

6.The Relations between Smoking and Exposure to Anti-Smoking Promotion Media in Middle School Students.
Journal of Agricultural Medicine & Community Health 2009;34(2):223-233
OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to examine the relations between exposure to anti-smoking promotion media and smoking, targeting middle school students who were exposed to various media of promotion. METHODS: The subjects of the study were 38,820 middle school students who answered to the 2007 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey. Answers of 37,714 subjects were used for the final analysis except those of 1,106 that could not be used to judge anti-smoking promotion media and prevalence of smoking as they were considered insincere to the questions. We used SPSS of version 17.0. This study conducted a chi-square test to identify smoking rate according to characteristics of subjects and a multivariate logistic regression analysis to identify whether they are independently significant. RESULTS: Smoking rate increased as the subjects were in higher grades. From the results of multivariate logistic regression, odds ratio(OR) at points 5~6 of the first graders that had never been exposed to anti-smoking promotion media was 0.49(95% CI=0.33-0.74), which was significantly low. And OR at points 5~6 of the third graders was 0.57(95% CI=0.43-0.76), significantly low. CONCLUSIONS: This study identified the relations between exposure to anti-smoking promotion media and smoking of middle school students in Korea.

Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 2008;15(1):107-113
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the degree and relationship between self-esteem, depression, and suicidal ideation of youths in the auxiliary police force. METHOD: This descriptive study was conducted using a structured questionnaire from February 1 to March 25, 2007. The participants were 180 youths from 19 to 25 years old (average 20.82 years old) who were auxiliary policemen. The data were analyzed using the SPSS Win 12.0 program. RESULTS: Six of the auxiliary police (3.34%) reported critical scores in suicidal ideation. There was a significant difference in depression according to work area. Self-esteem showed a significant negative correlation with depression (r=-0.38, p<.001) and suicidal ideation (r=-0.39, p<.001). There was a positive correlation between depression and suicidal ideation(r=0.53, p<.001). CONCLUSION: The findings suggest that auxiliary policemen have higher levels of depression and suicidal ideation. Therefore, further study is needed to develop and examine nursing interventions the enhance self-esteem, so that depression and suicidal ideation can be minimized.
