Annals of Dermatology 2001;13(3):175-178
We report two cases of type V hyperlipoproteinemia and eruptive xanthomas associated with diabetes mellitus in a 44-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman. They had asymptomatic, diffuse, erythematous yellowish papules on the extremities and buttocks. The laboratory studies showed increased serum blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, increasing pre-β and chylomicron bands on electrophoresis of lipoprotein. Histopathologic findings of erythematous yellowish papules on the thigh and buttock revealed aggregation of foam cells in the dermis. They have been treated with diet control, hypoglycemic agent (gliclazide) and hypolipidemic drug (gemfibrozil), and are under continued supervision.

3.Subacute, Silent Embolization of Amplatzer Atrial Septal Defect Closure Device to the Pulmonary Artery.
Journal of Cardiovascular Ultrasound 2012;20(4):201-204
Embolization of the closure device is a rare but potentially fatal complication of percutaneous atrial septal defect (ASD) closure. We report a case of 45-year-old woman who underwent ASD device closure with 32 mm Amplatzer device, which was embolized to the pulmonary artery without symptom one day after successful device implantation.

Korean Journal of Preventive Medicine 1998;31(3):503-515
In order to investigate the factors influencing QOL and life satisfaction of the physically disabled, the author interviewed, by using structuralized questionnaire, 440 individuals among the physically disabled who were participated in Health Examination from April to July, 1997. The questionnaire consisted of the general characteristics(sex, age, marital status, family number, etc), the Reintegration to Normal Living Index(RNLI) to assess QOL, and the single item of five-likert scale to evaluate life satisfaction. The means of RNLI were 16.2+/-4.8 in total score, 12.2+/-3.4 in daily functioning and 4.0+/-2.1 in perception of self. The respondents were less reintegrated toward social activities and relationships than impairments or disabilities. While the satisfied group was 47.3%, the dissatisfied group was 52.7%. As the results of multiple regression and logistic regression analysis, the significant predictors of QOL were age, education, job, grade of disability and subjective health status. The life satisfaction were related to economic status, job and subjective health status. To improve QOL and life satisfaction of the physically disabled, it is important that we improve their basic socioeconomic status by getting a job through rehabilitation education and induce them to have positive self-assessment by extending the opportunity of social participation.

In vasospastic angina, exercise typically does not lead to vasoconstriction. We present the case of a patient with an atypical presentation of vasospastic angina, characterized by regional wall motion abnormalities confirmed by exercise stress echocardiography. A 58-yearold female patient presented to the hospital reporting chest pain during both exercise. During the exercise stress echocardiogram, regional wall motion abnormality was confirmed. However, the coronary angiography did not reveal significant lesions. Subsequently, ergonovine test was positive and then exercise induced vasospastic angina was diagnosed. Following medical treatment, the patient’s symptoms showed improvement. This case underscores an uncommon presentation of vasospastic angina in an individual already diagnosed with coronary artery disease, indicating that exercise stress echocardiography could serve as a valuable screening tool for specific types of vasospastic angina.

Single coronary artery is a rare congenital anomaly occurring in approximately 0.04% of the population. This entity can be diagnosed during life only by coronary angiography. Typical angina does not occur with single coronary artery in the absence of coexisting coronary artery disease or aortic stenosis. Among 874 patients who underwent diagnostic coronary angiography at Asan Medical Center. we have experienced a case of single coronary artery with significant atherosclerotic coronary artery disease which has been managed succesfully coronary angioplasty. We report this case of single coronary artery with a review of literature.
