The term endometriosis refers to ectopic endometriume. It most often involves the pelvic organs, including ovaries, broad and round ligaments, fallopian tubes, cervix, vagina and the pouch of Douglas. We report a case of vesical endometriosis in a 4- year old female patient and review literature. Segmental resection of this mass with involved bladder resulted in cure and this lesion was confirmed histologically as endometriosis of the bladder.

Journal of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons 1997;24(3):559-569
Skull base surgery has developed through the evolution of imaging, anatomic research, surgical approach and reconstructive techniques. The basic disciplines of approaching skull base lesions are provide direct vision, minimizing brain retraction, excellent exposure and minimal blood loss. The focus of this report is to review the advantages of skull base approach in our cases and suggest some indications. We experienced 20 cases of skull base surgery by a team approach consisting of a neurosurgeon and plastic surgeon. The surgical approach were supraorbital osteotomy(5 case), orbitozygomatic osteotomy(8 case), orbitozygomaticoglenoid osteotomy (5 case ) and orbitozygomaticoglenoidocondylar osteotomy (2 case). In our experience, these approaches provided excellent exposure of the lesion, direct access to lesions and minimal brain retraction thereby better outcome.

Journal of the Korean Society for Microbiology 2000;35(1):69-76
Members of the genus Acinetobacter are recognized as newer pathogens of the nosocomial infection with an increasing frequency in recent years. Strains that belonged to A. calcoaceticus-A. baumannii complex (genomic species 1, 2, 3, and 13TU) were major groups associated with nosocomial infection. Phenotypic identification was unreliable and laborious method to classify Acinetobacter strains into 19 genomic species. Rapid and reliable identification of clinical isolates is essential to diagnosis and epidemiology of Acinetobacter. We investigated the suitability of amplified ribosomal DNA restriction analysis (ARDRA) to identify genomic species of 131 Acinetobacter isolates. The 16S rRNA genes (ribosomal DNA) were enzymatically amplified and the amplified PCR products were restricted independently with the enzymes, AluI, CfoI, and MboI. Genomic species of Acinetobacter was classified by the combinations of restriction patterns. The analysis was showed that restriction profiles were characteristic for each genomic species. One hundred fourteen isolates were identified as A. baumannii, twelve were identified as genomic species 13TU, and one was identified as genomic species 3. Four isolates were found to be unknown organisms. All of the isolates which were identified to A. baumannii by phenotypic tests were completely discriminated into A. baumannii and genomic species 13TU by ARDRA. This study demonstrates that ARDRA is a rapid and simple techniques for the identification of Acinetobacter species according to the genomic species.

Leiomyosarcoma of the penis is an extremely rare disease. We have encountered a case of leiomyosarcoma of the penis in a 45 year old man. On staging work up. local invasion to corpus cavernosum. but no evidence of lymph node metastasis was evident. After the confirmation of leiomyosarcoma by excisional biopsy, the patient underwent partial penectemy. Herein we report this case with the review of literatures.

Korean Journal of Urology 1987;28(5):683-686
Inverted papilloma of the urinary tract is a unique and rare tumor. It is generally considered a benign lesion, although previous reports have alluded to the possibility of malignant change. The lesion is believed to arise mainly from trigon and bladder outlet as a result of chronic. proliferative cystitis. The most commonly associated clinical symptoms are hematuria and those of urinary obstruction. We report two cases of vesical inverted papilloma which were proved histologically.

Korean Journal of Urology 1987;28(5):629-633
An 11 cases of nontransitional malignant epithelial tumors among the 97 cases of urinary bladder tumor have been reviewed. The 97 cases were admitted to Department of Urology, Korea University Hospital from Jan. 1980 to Dec. 1985. The purpose of the study were the establishment of the way how to manage these malignant tumors and the confirmation if the tumor were recurred or not through strict follow up study with the 11 cases. The results were as follows: 1. Adenocarcinoma of the urinary bladder was 7 cases and squamous cell carcinoma was 4 cases, comprising 11.3% of all 97 cases of malignant vesical neoplasm. 2. In the view of sex distribution, men was 5 out of 7 adenocarcinomas. The male predominance was noted in prevalence of transitional carcinoma, however, women was 3 out of 4 cases of squamous cell carcinoma. 3. The most common sites of the squamous cell carcinoma were located in the lateral wall and trigone, the adenocarcinomas were located in the dome and anterior wall predominantly. 4. All of the nontransitional carcinoma were infiltrating or metastatic when the diagnosis was established. 5. One case who was treated with radiation therapy only expired in 5 months after diagnosis. 6. The 5 cases were received radical cystectomy with radiation therapy. 3 out of them has been survived, one died 23 months after and another died 25 months after. 7. Two years survival rate of these patients that received radiation and radical cystectomy was 60 %.
