Interlocking medullary nails have been widely used in the treatment of long bone fractures especially in tibia and femur. But with increasing use of nails, many preoperative, intra-operative and post-operative complications have been reported. We have experienced 3 cases of very rare complication, fracture of tibia shaft which occurred during removal of interlocking medullary nail after complete healing of original tibial fracture. We report these rare complications with literature review.

In orthopedic practice, patients sometimes ask certain kinds of medical documents certifying their disability grading. But many orthopedic surgeons are not accustomed to issue such medical certificates. So we want to review the way of evaluation and grading of disabilities for such different kinds of medical certificates(for examples: disability grading certificate for use in traffic accident, industrial accident, liability of national compensation, private insurance, the handicapped, military service and others) and compare the differences between them.

4.Grit, Academic Resilience, and Psychological Well-being in Nursing Students.
Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2017;23(2):175-183
PURPOSE: This study was conducted to investigate the relationship among grit, academic resilience, and psychological well-being among nursing students. METHODS: The participants were 271 nursing students, enrolled in C university. Data were collected from September 5 to 30, 2016 and analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. RESULTS: The mean scores for academic resilience were above average. The mean score for grit and psychological well-being presented an appropriate level. Psychological well-being in nursing students was significantly correlated with academic resilience (r=.65, p<.001) and grit (r=.52, p<.001). The significant predictors of psychological well-being for nursing students were academic resilience (β=.47, p<.001), grit (β=.26, p<.001), and major satisfaction (β=.20, p<.001) which explained 53.1% of the variance in psychological well-being. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that it is necessary to develop grit and academic resilience enhancement programs to improve the psychological well-being of nursing students.

5.The Effect of Cancer-overcome BeHaS Exercise Program on Pain, Flexibility, Grip Strength and Stress in Breast Cancer Patients Following Surgery.
Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 2009;16(2):181-189
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of cancer-overcome BeHaS exercise program on pain, flexibility, grip strength and stress in patient with breast cancer following surgery. METHOD: Study was designed as a non-synchronized research method with a nonequivalent control group. Data collection was performed from September 2007 to January 1, 2008. Participants were 34 patients (experimental group: 19, control group: 15) undergoing surgery for breast cancer in a hospital in D city. Women in the experimental group were participated in the cancer-overcome BeHaS (Be Happy and Strong) exercise program for 60 minutes per session once a week for 8 weeks and it was recommended that they do the exercises once more each week at home. The control group received one education session on breast cancer management. RESULTS: There were no significant differences between the two groups for pain, flexibility or grip strength. But stress in experimental group was significantly decreased compared to that of the control group. CONCLUSION: This result suggests that cancerovercome BeHaS exercise program is helpful to reduce stress in patients after breast cancer surgery. Further research is needed for multi-dimensional evaluation on psycho-social effects of cancer-overcome BeHaS exercise program.

6.The Risk Factors for Persistence of Asthma Symptoms from Late Childhood to Early Adult Life: The Effects of Pulmonary Function and Bronchial Hyperresponsiveness.

Pediatric Allergy and Respiratory Disease 2008;18(2):138-147
PURPOSE: We performed this study to evaluate the effect of pulmonary function and bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR) on the persistence of asthma symptoms from late childhood to early adult life. METHODS: One-hundred thirty-one children with asthma treated at our hospital during the past 10 years were divided into 2 groups according to the persistence of symptoms in early adult life: the persistent and remission groups. Information about symptoms, body mass index, serum ECP, serum IgE and skin test reactivity in late childhood were obtained and prebronchodilator FEV1, FEV1/FVC (expressed as % of predicted) and BHR to methacholine were measured in late childhood and early adult life, and compared the 2 groups. Results: The persistent group was accounted for 45.8% of the subjects and FEV1, FEV1/ FVC and BHR to methacholine in late childhood were associated with the persistence of symptoms. We found a positive correlation between FEV1 in late childhood and early adult.(r=0.250, P=0.013) Also we found a positive correlation between FEV1/FVC in late childhood and early adult.(r=0.285, P=0.018) BHR and FEV1% of 60% to 79% of late childhood were associated with BHR in early adult.(Odds ratio; 95% confidence interval=3.8; 1.7-8.7, 4.6; 1.0-20.2) Conclusion: Low pulmonary function and increased BHR in childhood asthma were associated with persistence of symptom, degree of pulmonary function and BHR in early adult life.

The Korean Journal of Parasitology 2005;43(2):51-55
The autoinfective filariform larva of Strongyloides stercoralis causes hyperinfection in immunosuppressed hosts. Here we report on the case of a male patient who was admitted to the emergency room at Gwangju Veterans Hospital with a complaint of dyspnea, and who was receiving corticosteroid therapy for asthma. Many slender larvae of S. stercoralis with a notched tail were detected in Papanicolaou stained sputum. They measured 269 +/- 21.2 micrometer in length and 11 +/- 0.6 micrometer in width. The esophagus extended nearly half of the body length. The larvae were identified putatively as autoinfective third-stage filariform larvae, and their presence was fatal. The autoinfective filariform larva of S. stercoralis has not been previously reported in Korea.

1.050 patients who visited orthodontic dental department from 1983 to 1994, were surveyed on the yearly tendency of orthodontic patient distribution and state by means of Angle's classification. The results were as follows : 1. There was increased visiting rate of patient per year and higher visiting rate in female than in male. 2. 8-15 age group was 61.4% in total visiting patients and over 20 age group was 18.5%, under 7 age group was 8.1%. 3. Class I malocclusion was 42.2%, class II div 1 was 22.5%, class II-2 was 3.9%, class III was 29.1% and cleft lip & palate was 2.0% in total visiting patient. 4. As showed the living distribution, Namgu and Susunggu's patients were 43.7% of the total patients. 5. There was increased tendency for the number of the patient to be received orthognathic surgery.
