Korean Journal of Physical Anthropology 1994;7(2):219-229
Esthetic is one of the prime goal of the orthodontic treatment. The upper incisor position in important because it is decisive in balanced smile. This study was attempted to obtain the standards and equations on the esthetic upper incisor position. Lateral cephalometric radiographs of 66 Korean young adult females who were candidates of Miss Korea Beauty Contest were traced, measured and statistically analyzed. The results were as follows ; 1. The mean and standard deviation of the measurement for upper incisor position were obtained in the Korean Beauty. 2. Among the measurements of the axis of upper incisor, 1 to SN and 1 to FH were high1y correlated with FH-MP, ANB, FH-N Pag, Y-axis, but 1 to SN (Is-Pr) to present axial inclination of labial surface of upper Incisor didn't have any correlation with the measurements for dentofacial pattern. 3. Among the measurements for the vertical position of upper incisor, 1 to stom had low correlation with to measurements for dentofacial pattern and 1 to PP(mm) was highly correlated with the measurements for facial growth direction. 4. Sixteen multiple regression equations were established to predict upper incisor position balancing with dentofacial pattern. 5. It does not have much power of persuasion to predict esthetic upper incisor position from the measurements for dentofacial pattern.

We herein present a case of simultaneous occurrence of apocrine adenocarcinoma, syringocystadenoma papilliferum, syringoma, and eccrine hydrocystoma arising in an organoid nevus (nevus sebaceus of Jadassohn) which had been present on the right occipitoparietal scalp of a 60-year-old man since birth.

Journal of the Korean Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery 1999;5(2):305-312
Augmentation mammoplasty can be done in various manners according to the way of approach. the type of implant or implatation site depending on the status and demand of the patients or the operator's preferrence. In reviewing the many published reports about augmentation mammoplasty, they compare their surgical outcomes with mixed factors, so it is difficult to compare the results of mammoplasty simply with one factor under the same conditions. We think that analyzing the surgical results with one consistent method enables to compare and decide the influencing effect of one factor within it in augmentation mammoplasty. We could find the fact that the Korean women who wanted augmentation mammoplasty had same physical characteristics and demands, so developed the standardized method of augmentation mammoplasty among those debatable data for the purpose of increasing the patients' satisfaction, decreasing the complications, and shortening the operation time. The method we adopted was placing the implant through transaxillary subpectoral approach and using the endoscope auxiliarily in additional dissection and hemostasis. We employed saline-filled implants of round, textured type with the size ranging fro 125cc to 175cc and overinflated them by 10 to 30% beyond its original volume. After irrigation of the dissected pocket, we placed the suction drainage system into the subpectoral pocket. We educated the patients to massage their breasts right after removal of the drain. During the period of follow-up (from 6 months to 24 months), most of the patients were satisfied with their operative results. Though we experienced one case of capsular contracture, one case of malposition of the implant, and three cases of scar contracture on axillar incision site, as a whole, we could minimize the complications associated with augmentation mammoplasty. We present our postoperative results with the conclusion that our standardized method of augmentation mammoplasty can bring results of high satisfaction rate, minimal complication, predictability of postoperative results, shortening of operation time when applied consistently to the Korean patients whose physical characteristics are similar. We also hope that stanadardized method can be used to compare the influencing effect of many factors in the case of changing one factor within the standardized in the future follow up period.

Journal of the Korean Pediatric Society 1993;36(10):1458-1465
Virus associated hemophagocytic syndrome, class ll histiocytoses, characterized by high fever, severe constitutional symptoms, abnormal liver function and coagulation, perigheral blood pancytopenia and histiocytic hyperplasis with prominent hemophagocytosis in bone marrow and lymph nodes has been reported and associated with active viral infection. It is non-malignant and reversible. It must be differentiated from histiocytic medullary reticulosis because of the inappopriateness of immunosuppressive of cytotozic therapy which is the therapeutic method for HMR, but is contraindicated in the treatment of VAHS. This paper describes two patients whose clinicopathology was compatible with the diagnosis of virus associated hemophagocytic syndrome.

Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 2000;18(4):459-464
Primary progressive aphasia (PPA) is an uncommon neurodegenerative syndrome characterized by a progressive deterioration of language, while nonverbal cognitive and other neurological functions of PPA are relatively preserved for a longer period. However, it still remains unclear whether PPA represents a distinct diagnostic entity or a precursor of global dementia syndrome. We report PPA cases that presented with a slowly progressive language dysfunction without disturbing other daily living activities for several years. Repeated neuropsychological tests revealed progres-sive deterioration of executive aspects of language and mild memory dysfunction, although their receptive language and nonverbal cognitive functions were relatively preserved. The imaging of the brain showed prominent atrophic changes in the left perisylvian and the adjacent temporal region. In considering the mild cognitive decline accompanied by language deterioration, we conclude that in these cases it is clinically heterogenous and may be parts of a spectrum of focal forms of non-Alzeimer type dementia.

Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1987;4(2):205-210
Kaposi's varicelliform eruption is a more or less generalized infection of the skin, and sometimes of internal organs, with herpes simplex, vaccinia or Coxsackie virus A 16; it appears in people who have atopic dermatitis or some other skin diseases. There is a predilection for infants and children, but no age-group is exempt. We reported 3 cases of Kaposi's varicelliform eruption with atopic dermatitis. They had characteristic multiple umbilicated vesicles on the sites that atopic dermatitis had been involved. A 14-year-old boy and a 2-month-old infant had fever. A 17-year-old boy had wide-spread vesicles. All three patients showed multinucleated giant cells on Tzanck test, that suggests herpes simplex virus origin. They were treated with acyclovir. Within 1 to 2 days after the initiation of the therapy, new lesions had ceased to develop. Most of the lesions were cleared in 7 days without complication.
