1.Development of the Korean Form of Zung's Self-Rating Anxiety Scale.
Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1996;13(2):279-294
This study was carried out to develop a Korean language version of Zung's self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) from august, 1994 to September, 1996. The subjects consisted of 205 normal control subjects from the general population group, and 97 subjects with anxiety disorders. These 97 subjects were chosen from a group by the structured clinical interview for DSM-IV of in patients and out patients. Both normal control subjects and anxiety disorder subjects were drawn utilizing a cluster of sampling methods. In order to analyze the data on anxiety scores, Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient method was carried out, as well as reliability, factor analysis and discrimina;it function analysis, utilizing the SPSS/PC+ program. The results obtained were - as follows: The mean average of the total anxiety scores were 32.36 + 6.35 for the normal control subjects and 50.53 + 7.67 for anxiety disorder subjects. Test-retest reliability(coefficient r=0.98, p < 0.001), and internal consistency(coefficient r=0.96, p < 0.001) were satisfactory. Factor analysis using oblique technique rotation yielded four factors. _ The . normal control subjects scored higher concerning the symptoms such as sweating, restlessness, apprehension, insomnia and dyspnea, and lower for faintness, mental disintegration, paresthesia, dizziness and .tremor. On the other hand, for the anxiety disorders, apprehension, restlessness, sweating, dyspnea and insomnia scored higher, and lower for faintness, paresthesia, nightmare, dizziness and tremor.

4.Role of Radiotherapy in High-Risk Colon Cancer.
Journal of the Korean Medical Association 2002;45(7):842-850
For selected subsets of colon cancer (T4 lesions or those with cancers in areas of the colon where anatomic factors preclude surgery with adequate resection margins), local failure rates are similar with those of rectal cancers. The role of adjuvant external beam radiation therapy in this subset of patients has been evaluated in both retrospective and prospective studies. Postoperative radiation with or without 5-FU improved local control and disease-free survival when compared with historical controls in many single-institution studies such as MGH series, however, there is no phase-III prospective randomized study to elucidate the role of postoperative radiation therapy. One must treat each patient on the basis of through evaluation of stage, operative findings, and results of pathologic and imaging studies.

5.Comparison of Intravaginal Misoprostol and Prostaglandin E2 Vaginal Tablet in Termination of Mid - Trimester Pregnancy.
Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 1999;42(2):388-391
OBJECTIVE: To compsre the efficiency, success rate, and abortion time of applications of intravaginal misoprostol versus prostaglandin E2 vaginal tablet for mid-trimester pregnancy termination Subjects and methods: Eighty four patients between 17-29 weeks of gestation with medical, obstetric, or genetic reasons far termination were randomized to receive either 50 ug tablets of misoprostol placed in the posterior vaginal fornix or prostaglandin E2 3mg in tables placed into the endocervix. RESULTS: Among eighty four patients recruited, fourty five patients received misoprostol and thirty nine patients received prostaglandin E2 vaginal tablets. The average interval hom start of induction to vaginal delivery was 13.35 +/- 3.34 hours in misoprostol poup and 19.14 +/- 10.64 hours in the prostaglandin E2 group. The success rate of complete termination within 12 and 24 hours in misopr-ostol group were 57.7%, 93.3%, respectively, while in prostaglandin E2 group were 20.5%, 82.1% repectively. Oxytocin augumentation was 6.7% in misoprostol group and 17.9% in the prostaglardin E2 group. No serious complication occumd. CONCLUSION: Intracervicovaginal misoprostol appears to be acceptably safe and effective agents for second trimester pregnancy termination. The abortion time is less in misoprostol group than those in the prostaglandin E2 group. Misoprostol has the advantage of being expensive, easily stored and readily available. We used 50 ug tablets of misoprostol every four hours. But, we suspect that the regimen of 100ug misopostol inserted intracervico-vaginally every eight hours will beis the proper and optimal method for pregnancy termination.

6.NO EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM VITAMIN E SUPPLEMENTATION ON INFLAMMATORY AND MUSCLE DAMAGE MARKERS AFTER REPEATED BOUTS OF PROLONGED EXERCISE IN HEALTHY YOUNG MEN
MASASHI MIYASHITA ; JONG-HOON PARK
Japanese Journal of Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine 2008;57(3):383-392
After a single bout of prolonged strenuous exercise, inflammatory and muscle damage markers increase. The present study investigated whether vitamin E supplementation can attenuate inflammatory (C-reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin-6 (IL-6)) and muscle damage (creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenese (LDH)) markers after prolonged repeated bouts of cycling in healthy young men. Eight young males (aged 21–30 y) were received both vitamin E supplement (300 mg/day) and placebo (control) for 14 days separated by at least an interval of 1 month in a randomised, counterbalanced design. On day 12 of both trials, subjects cycled at 80% of maximal heart rate in two, 90-min bouts (150 min rest between each). Blood samples were collected on days 1 (baseline), 12 (pre- and post-exercise 1 and pre- and post-exercise 2), 13, 14, and 15. After 14 days of supplementation, serum α-tocopherol concentrations increased in the vitamin E trial (P<0.0005) but not the placebo trial. Serum CRP concentrations did not differ between trials and did not significantly change over the observation period in both trials. Serum IL-6, CK, and LDH concentrations increased (P≤0.024) in response to repeated bouts of exercise in both trials but did not differ between trials. The study demonstrates that short-term vitamin E supplementation appears to have no effect on attenuating markers of inflammatory and muscle damage in response to repeated bouts of prolonged exercise in healthy young men.

10.A Case of Reactive Perforating Collagenosis.
Jeung Hoon LEE ; Jong Myung HYUN
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1985;23(6):790-794
Reactive perforating collagenosis, first described by Mehregan et al in ]967, is a skin disorder characterized by transepidermal eliniination of altered collagen fibers. This rare disease appears as recurrent, umbilicated, crusted papules in response to minor trauma. We report here a case of reactive perforating collagenosis in a 21-year-old man. Examination of the skin revealed a number of centrally umbilicated, asymptomatic papules filled with keratotic plugs in various development and regression. The lesions were distributed on the dorsa of the hands, face, and neck. The biopsy spccimen showed a few of thin bundles of collagen which v ere extruded from the dermis through the atrophic epidermis and the turinels within the epidermis, reaching the buttom of the plug.
