AIM: To study the processing principle of Fructus Schisandrae Sphenantherae steamed with wine. METHODS: The content of volatile oil was measured by means of volatile oil measuring method and identified by TLC. The total lignans was determined by spectrophotometry and the water-soluble extractive was measured by determination of extractive method. RESULTS: The volatile oil content in Fruetus Schisandrae Sphenantherae by steaming with wine decreased by 35.3%, TLC showed that a new spot was added; the lignans content had an increase of 28.9% and the water extractive was 2% less than in crude drug. CONCLUSION: Tranditional process is reasonable.

OBJECTIVETo establish a method for quick finding of the absorption ingredients of Paeoniae Radix Alba in order to select the index of quality control.
METHODThe absorption ingredients of three concentration of Paeoniae Radix Alba were investigated with the in vitro-everted intestinal sac (VEIS) model. The intestinal sac fluids of jejunum and ileum were collected in different time and detected by HPLC. The accumulative absorption quantity of albiflorin and paeoniflorin were calculated, respectively.
RESULTFive ingredients could be detected. In different concentrations of Paeoniae Radix Alba, albiflorin and paeoniflorin in various intestinal sections were the linear absorption (R2 > 0.9), conformed to the zero order absorption rate. The values of Ka in the jejunum and ileum were increased along with the raised dosage of the Paeoniae Radix Alba (P < 0.05), indicating a passive absorption manner.
CONCLUSIONSEMAC could be used as a tool to find the absorption ingredients of Paeoniae Radix Alba. Compared with the jejunum, the ileum could provide the more absorption information. It was showed that the optimal detecting time was 60 min.

Objective 36 non-Kaschin-Beck disease villages in five provinces including Jilin,Liaoning,Shaanxi,Shanxi and Inner Mongolia in the severe endemic areas of Kaschin-Beck disease (KBD) were selected. The aim of this project was to provide the basis showing these KBD villages had already eliminated the KBD.Methods Fully digital versatile X-ray radiography systems (DR) was used to shoot children's right hand X-ray,in accordance with the "Kashin-Beck Disease Diagnosis Standard" (WS/T 207-2010) for diagnosis. Results Results indicated that children showing metaphyseal changes only appeared in 13 of the 36 villages, where the rate of change on metaphyseal was less than or equal to three percent. Conclusion When KBD had been eliminated in a village, the rate of change on aged 7 to 12 children' s metaphyseal would have been less than three percent.
