Objective To study the effects of Qilianmaogentang on the experimental IgA nephropathy (IgAN) rat. Methods The IgAN rat model was induced through oral administration of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and staphylococcus enterotoxin infection. To study the effects of Qilianmaogentan on albuminuria, kidney function, blood plasma albumin and kidney pathology of the IgAN rats, while the control group were treated with Shengyanshuchongji. Results The therapy group's kidney function were better than the control group's, with less urine albumen and the deposit of immunity complex in the glomerular mesangial area. Conclusion Qilianmaogentang can improve the kidney function of IgAN rat, and reduce the deposit of immunity complex in the glomerular mesangial area.

In order to further probe into the therapeutic effect and mechanisms of Shou Wu Huan Jing Capsule for treatment of male infertility, 180 patients were investigated. Results showed that the prescription had reliable therapeutic effect with no side - effect, and the effective rate was 93. 89%. Objective To observe the effects of therapy of tonifying kidney and replenishing essence on protein expression profile in testes of aged rats.Methods Twenty male SD rats with 22 months old were equally randomized into the blank control group and the treatment group.The treatment group received gastric gavage of herbs at the dose of 0.05g?kg-1.d-1,which has the actions of tonifying kidney and replenishing essence.The treatment lasted 60 days.After treatment,the right testes were taken out from the rats,and the differentially expressed proteins in the rats testes of two groups were analyzed by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis(2-DE).Results Compared with the model group,obvious changes were found in 7 kinds of differentially expressed proteins in rats testes of the treatment group,of which 4 kinds were up-regulated and 3 down-regulated.After digestion and identification by the matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrum,5 kinds from the 7 kinds of proteins were identified as phosphatidyl ethanolamine-binding protein(PEBP),heat shock 70 kDa protein 8,triose-phosphate isomerase,glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase(GAPDH),and glutathione S-transferase Mu 1(GSTM1-1).Conclusion The anti-aging mechanism of therapy of tonifying kidney and replenishing essence is probably related with the regulation of testis protein expression in aged rats.

In this study, an analytical method was developed and used to quantify simultaneously protocatechuic acid, neochlorogenic acid, cryptochlorogenic acid and 1, 3-dicaffeoylquinic acid--four bioactive compounds contained in Fructus Xanthii using UPLC. The contents of four phenolic components of 28 batches of samples collected from different product areas and markets were determined and compared by means of this established method. The mobile phase was composed of methanol and water containing 0.1% phosphoric acid. Chromatography was monitored at dual-wavelengths--220 and 327 nm. Flow rate was 0.4 mL x min(-1) and column temperature was 35 degrees C. The correlation coefficient between concentration and chromatographic peak area of protocatechuic acid, neochlorogenic acid, cryptochlorogenic acid and 1, 3-dicaffeoylquinic acid was over 0.9999 in the range of 0.3570-35.70, 2.500-250.0, 1.060-106.1, 1.010-101.0 microg x mL(-1), respectively. The average recoveries of the four compounds were 97.68%, 99.55%, 97.92% and 100.4%, respectively. In conclusion, the established method can rapidly attain an accurate and reproducible result used to control the quality of Fructus Xanthii.
