Objective To study the intelligence and memory impairment of patients with craniocerebral injury during traffic accident and its correlated factors. Method Data of psychological tests, eletroencepa-lograph (EEG) and brain image information of 652 subjects with brain injury who survived from traffic accident in Chengdu from Jan. 1,1999 to Dec. 31,2001 were collected and analysed. Results The average intelligence quotient (IQ) of patients in patients group was 77.85?15.97. 27.9 % patients's IQ was lower than 70. 51.9% patients's memory quotient (MQ) was lower than 51. The intelligence impairment was correlated with education level, left temporal lobe injury, three or more lobes of the brain injuried and EEG abnormality. Memory impairment was correlated with education level, interval between injury and e-valuation, brain stem injury, left temporal lobe injury, and EEG abnormality. Conclusion Impairment of intelligence and memory in different degrees were observed in most patients with traumatic brain injury during traffic accident. Intelligence and memory impairment were correlated with left temporal lobe injury, EEG abnormality, brain stem injury and education level.

Angiosteosis is associated with increased vascular stiffness and leads to clinical manifestations such as high blood pressure and heart failure,which increases the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.Angiosteosis is considered to be ectopic deposits of calcium phosphate crystallization in the form of hydroxyapatite in cardiovascular tissue.However,the mechanism of angiosteosis is not yet clear.The pathophysiologic process of angiosteosis is similar to normal bone mineralization.Matrix vesicles (MV) play an important role in bone mineralization.Researches confirmed the existence of MV in the calcified arteries under the microscope.Angiosteosis is widely found in clinical diseases,so the studies of the mechanism of angiosteosis and the role of MV in angiosteosis are of great significance.

Objective To estabhsh a set of consummate evaluation methods of animal models which are with syndromes of Traditional Chinese Medicine.Methods By means of Streptococcus pneumoniae-induced pyretic pulmonary syndrome model for the entry point,in the base of the conventional evaluation methods,further attempt were made through metabonomies,through analyzing metabolic fingerprint data of rats'urine in the control group together with the model group and metabolome of rats'urine in model group at different times,in order to approach the evaluation methods of animal models.Results After rats were given Streptococctts pneumoniae through nose,compared with the control group,both the body temperature variance and lencocyte count in model group were statistically significant with P <0.01,pathological changes of lung was obvious;According to the metabolic results,metabolic profiles of rats'urine in model group changed and metabolome diverged obviously in scores plot,the research results of metabonomics were coincide with the results of macroscopy physical sign and pathological biochemistry of Pyrefic pulmonary syndrome.Conclusion Metabonomics can be used to evaluate the studies of animal models with syndromes of traditional Chinese medieine.

IgA vasculitis (IgAV) is a common systemic small-sized vessel vasculitis.It's characterized by non-thrombocytopenic palpable purpura,arthralgia/arthritis,bowel angina,and nephritis,but some details of etiology and pathogenesis is not very clear.The disease course is usually benign and self-limited,however,it is necessary to discuss the therapy of severe or chronic cases,especially there is not enough evidence-based basis for using key drugs to IgAV.Excellent clinical trails is expected to establish scientific system of prediction and evaluation of disease course,which will be helpful to individualize treatment of IgAV.

Objective To study the effect of astragaloside on TGF-β1,SMAD2/3,and α-SMA expression in the kidney tissue of diabetic KKAy mice,and evaluate its potential role in renal interstitial fibrosis.Methods 20 type 2 diabetic KKAy mice were randomly divided into model group and astragaloside group,while 10 male C57BL/6J mice were selected as the control.Astragaloside at 40 mg · kg-1 · d-1 was given when the KKAy mice fed with high-fat diet to 14 weeks old.The mice in the control and model group received normal saline at 40 mg · kg-1 · d-1.Blood glucose meter was used to detect the blood glucose value of each mice at 16th,20th and 24th week.The mice were killed at 24 weeks old and the kidney tissue samples were collected.Pathology morphological changes were observed.Results (1) blood glucose value:cmpared with the control group,the blood glucose value of KKAy mice at 14 week increased significantly,and that of model group also increased significantly at 16th,20th and 24th week (P＜0.05);the blood glucose value of astragaloside group decreased compared with control group (P＜0.05).(2) Morphology of kidney:in the control group,the glomerular and tubular had clear structure,there was no renal interstitial fibrosis;in the model group,the renal glomerular mesangial matrix had broaden,mesangial cell had increased,renal tubular epithelial cell cytoplasm showed vacuole degeneration,renal interstitial inflammatory cell had increaised.In astragaloside group,there were few renal tubular epithelial cell cytoplasm,and there was no obvious fibrosis.(3)TGF-β1,SMAD2/3,and α-SMA expression levels of the kidney issuse:compared with control group,mice in model group up-regulated TGF-β1,SMAD2/3 and α-SMA expression (P＜ 0.05).TGF-β1,SMAD2/3,and α-SMA expression levels in astragaloside group were significantly lower than those in the model group (P＜0.05).There was few phosphorylated SMAD2/3 expression in renal tubular and glomerular nuclei,while that of model group increased (P＜0.01),and compared with model group,that of the astragaloside group decreased (P＜0.05).Conclusion Astragaloside can delay the renal fibrosis process in diabetic mice by influencing the TGF-β/SMADS signaling pathway and down-regulating TGF-β1 and α-SMA expression,thus to relieve renal fibrosis in diabetic mice.

Objective To explore DSA findings curative measures and effects of bronchial arterial embolization(BAE)of bronchiectasis with massive hemoptysis. Methods 35 patients with massive hemoptysis due to bronchiectasis were performed selective bronchial arterial DSA and BAE referring to image data of chest plain film and CT. Embolic materials were polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)and/or gelatinum sponge particles. Curative effects were followed-up for 3 months to 3 years. Results ①DSA revealed bronchial artery as being the only abnormal vessel accounted for 74.3%,bronchial artry combined with nonbronchial systemic artery as 22.9% and only non-bronchial artery involved 2.9%. Abnormal vessel number was 1 -5(mean 1.8) per case. Direct and indirect bleeding sign was displayed as 25.7% and 100% respectively. ②Curative and embolization effects were shown as 61 target vessels of 34 patients being embolized and total effective rate reaching 85.3%; of which 16 cases were adopted super-selective technique,1 case was failure of stopping bleeding for two times within 3 days,4 cases recurred within 3 months and 2 cases recurred over 3 months; with recurrent rate of 20.6%,but no serious complications such as spinal cord injury. Conclusions DSA examination and selective BAE of bronchiectasis with massive hemoptysis could provide high positive angiographic features and reliable curative effect.

Objective To investigate serum amino acid spectrum in patients with acute stroke in response to different nutritional support strategies and its effects on neurological function.Methods A total of 60 cases of acute stroke with dysphagia were randomly distributed into two groups:enteral nutrition group (30 cases) and control group (30 cases) using simple randomized design.Serum amino acid spectrum,hemoglobin,total protein,albumin,prealbumin,immunoglobulins,complement,and infection rate were assessed at three time points:within 48 hours,(7 ± 1) days and (14 ± 1) days after admission,and neurological deficit and activities of daily living are scored according to National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Barthel Index (BI).Results (7 ± 1),(14 ± 1) days after admission,serum amino acid spectrum,hemoglobin,total protein,albumin,prealbumin,immunoglobulins,complement,and neurological deficit scores of enteral nutrition group patients were significantly better than those of non-enteral nutrition control group; and infection rate was lower than that of control group.Follow-up for a month,3 months,NIHSS of enteral nutrition group patients (9.0 ± 1.4,7.9 ± 1.3) were significantly better than nonenteral nutrition control group(11.1 ± 1.5,10.6 ± 1.4,F =46.042,P ＜ 0.05).While BI score seemed to be not insignificant different between enteral nutrition group (50.1 ± 1.8,52.0 ± 2.4) and control group (49.0±2.1,51.3 ±2.8,F=2.707,P＞0.05).Conclusion For patients suffering acute stroke with dysphagia,enteral nutrition support could reduce infectious complications,improve short-term neurological function and long-term prognosis by improving serum amino acids level and thus the whole body' s nutritional status.

Objective To study angiography features and clinical significance of "multiple tumor feeding embolization".Methods Twelve patients with pelvic tumor were reviewed retrospectively.The lesions included fibrosarcoma(n=1),chondrosarcoma(n=2),osteosarcoma(n=2) and metastatic tumor(n=7).Results Angiography features were:(1)multiple origin and branch of tumor-feeding vessels.(2)large vascular mass with dense tumor stain.(3)larger size of tumor stain comparing with that of bone destraction.After treatment,symptom relief and tumor shrink were obviously using"the multiple tumor-feeding embolization".Conclusion Angiography features of pelvic tumor are great value in guiding the clinical therapy.
