To summarize the clinical application and complications of macromolecule absorbable internal fixation materials in the treatment of instable ankle fracture, and prospect its future. The absorbable internal fixation materials can degrade in vivo, so they needn't a second surgery to remove; They degrade constantly and simultaneously lost their intensity, resuilting to avoid the stress force dodging effect; The mechanical character of absorbable internal fixation materials is more like human os integumentale. Therefore, macromolecule absorbable internal fixation materials are promising to treat instable ankle fracture.

Objective: To investigate the characters of the ageing changes in TMJ of New Zealand rabbit from 7 to 10 months old. Metho ds: 12 New Zealand rabbits aged 7,8,9 and 10 months old and 3 in eac h age group, were killed under anesthesia. Bilateral TMJs were histologically examined with HE stainnig. Results: Quite similar histolo gical structures were found in the TMJs in different age groups. Very few change s occurred in the fibre layer of osteo-articular surface. The thickness of the proliferate layer was decreased slightly in anterior and middle part saggitally, resulting in comparable increase of the hypertrophy layer with age. No hypertro phy layer was found in the cartilage over tempora articular surface. The thickne ss of the cartilage-like osteo layer was uneven, the thickest part was in the area towards condyle anterior slope and without age change. The thickness of d isc increased a little bit with age. Conclusion: The thick ness of the cartilage over TMJ articular surface of New Zealand rabbit at the a ge from 7 to 10 months old changes a little. The layer structures keep considera bly constant.

Methods:In a monkey after extraction of right upper first molar and left lower first molar, a fixed orthodontic appliance was used to cause the adjacent teeth inclined to the space and to occlude with opposite in coordinately. Another monkey was used as the control.8 months later, the animals were sacrificed and bilateral temporomandibular condyles were examined with histologic and immunohistochemical methods.Results:In the animal with teeth extraction, degenerative changes were found in anterior medial part of condyles, the thickness of condylar cartilage decreased significantly, especially in the anterior parts of medial and central thirds, and also the intermediate part of medial third ( P

To study the neural morphological basis of the "abdominal reflex spinal cord center bladder" artificial bladder reflex arc established by abdominal reflex. It is achieved by intradural microanastomosis of the right T 13 ventral root was anastomosed under microscope to S 2 ventral root by autogenous nerve grafting intraduraly, with the right T 13 dorsal root remaining intact and the right L 5 ～S 4 ventral roots severed. three to four months were allowed to achieve axonal regeneration, and new "abdominal reflex spinal cord center bladder" artificial bladder reflex pathway was established. Eight months after the operation, it was seen under light microscopy that regenerative nerve fibers of ventral root of T 12 had grown through the anastomotic site to distal nerve root. Under electron microscopy, nerve endings in the detrusor of the bladder were seen on the experimental side. The basic structure of the junction between parasympathetic nerve endings and bladder detrusor cells on the experimental side was similar to that on the control side. These features were not seen in the control group. The results suggested that the somatic motor axons above the lumbosacral paraplegia level could innervate bladder parasympathetic ganglion cells, and thereby transfersed somatic reflex activity to the bladder detrusor muscle, which was the morphological basis of the artificial bladder reflex arc leading to controllable micturition

Objective:To investigate the effect of partial p osterior teeth with reverse cross-bite at one side of mandible on the chewing m ovement. Methods: 16 university students with partial posterior teeth reverse cross-bite and 12 with normal occlusion were included, 5 cycles o f gum chewing movement with left and right side separately were recorded with K6 -Ⅰmandibular kinesiograph (MKG) for the trace and velocity. Results: ①The chewing movement recorded in frontal plane was with a typical cycl e in controls while that in reverse cross-bite individuals was vertically in an d/or out type (59.38%), as well as in and out in same direction type (21.88%). ②Chewing movement in reverse cross-bite patients was in posterior direction, together with a larger angle of closing trace to horizontal plane and higher che wing terminal velocity. Conclusion: Partial posterior teeth with reverse cross-bite at one side have significant effect on both direction and v elocity of chewing movement.

Purpose　To study the relationship between sympathetic nerve and the branches of primary sensory neurons in dominating cervical zygapophyseal joints with the HRP retrograde tracing methods.To explore the mechanism of the external intervertebral foramen's cryical nerve compression syndrome with neck-shoulder pain and the symptom of head and face regions.　Methods　8 Wistar rats were used with the right side as experimental side and the left side as control side.5 μl of 30% HRP solution was injected into the C5/C6 cervical zygapophyseal joint capsule of the right side by microinjection syringe and 5 μl of 0.9% normal saline was injected into the left side as control.The animals survived for 48 hours and were killed by perfusing through ascending aorta.The C1-T1 DRG,cervical sympathetic ganglia and trigeminal ganglia on both sides were sectioned by frozen section method,and treated with TMB method.The HRP labeled cells in sections were observed under optical microscope.The classification and count of HRP labeled cells in DRG and cervical sympathetic ganglia on experimental sides were analysed by image pattern analysis system.　Results　There were HRP labeled cells in middle cervical ganglia,inferior cervical ganglia (stellate ganglia) and C5-C7 DRG on experimental sides after HRP injection.Most of the labeled cells were small or middle size.The sum of mean area and the mean optical density of HRP labeled cells were larger in the middle cervical ganglia and C6 DRG than that in inferior cervical ganglia(stellate ganglia) and C5 or C7 DRG separately (P<0.01).There wasn't any HRP labeled cell in C1-T1 DRG of control side and in trigeminal ganglia.　Conclusions　The cervical zygapophyseal joint mainly dominated by the sensory branches of the three cervical nerves next to it and by the branches of the sympathetic nerves.It may be related to the causing of neck-shoulder pain and the symptoms of head and face regions of patients with the external intervertebral foramen's cervical nerve compression

Purpose　To explore the effects of cervical sympathetic nerve on the axoplasmic transport of the trigeminal nerve.　Methods　48 Wistar rats were used with the right side as experimental side and the left side as control side.5 μl of 30% horseradish peroxidare(HRP) solution was injected into the symmetrical areas on both sides of the infraorbital regions.Then 0.4 ml of suspension made up of 0.2 ml 0.5% bupivacaine and 0.2 ml hydroprednisone-A was injected into C5 transverse process on the right side,and 0.4 ml of 0.9% normal saline on the control side.The animals survived for 4,6,8,10,12,14h,and were killed after perfusing through the ascending aorta.The superior cervical sympathetic ganglia and the trigeminal ganglia on both sides frozen sectioned,and treated with TMB method.The HRP labeled cells in the sections were observed under light microscope.The positive labeled cells were classified and counted.The sum of mean area and the mean optical density of HRP labeled cells in superior cervical sympathetic ganglia and the trigeminal ganglia on both sides were analysed by image pattern analysis system.　Results　The labeled cells were found in the trigeminal ganglia of the experimental sides after 6 h,the control side,8 h.The velocity of HRP axoplasmic transport of the experimental side was (5.50±0.95)mm/h,the control side (3.99±0.81)mm/h(P<0.01).The sum of mean area and the product of the sum of mean area and the mean optical density of HRP labeled cells in the trigeminal ganglia of the experimental side were larger than those of the control side (P<0.01).The labeled cells were found in the superior cervical sympathetic ganglia on both sides after 8 h.The sum of mean area and the mean optical density of HRP labeled cells in the superior cervical sympathetic ganglia on the control sides were larger than those of the experimental sides (P<0.01).　Conclusions　Cervical sympathetic nerve can affect the velocity of the axoplasmic transport of the trigeminal nerve.The cervical local block slows accelerates the axoplasmic transport of the cervical sympathetic nerve and the axoplasmic transport of the trigeminal nerve.

Objective To evaluate the imaging quality and radiation doses of dual-source computed tomography (DSCT) coronary angiography at a low tube voltage in patients with medium and low heart rate.Methods Eighty-five patients[heart rate (HR) ＜ 91 beats per minute (bpm); body mass index (BMI) 17. 51-30. 00 kg/m2]suspected of coronary artery disease received retrospectively ECG-gating coronary angiography with dual-source CT scanner (Somatom Definition, Siemens) at a tube voltage of 100 kVp. For all patients, no beta-blocker was used before CT scan. According to the HR, the patients were divided into three groups: Group A, HR ≤ 59 bpm, n = 27; Group B, HR 60-69 bpm, n = 29; Group C,HR ≥70 bpm, n = 29. All images were transferred to a workstation for postprocessing. The best R-R interval reconstruction images of all groups were evaluated. The value of pitch, CT volume dosage index (CTDIvol), dose length product (DLP)and effective dose (ED)were recorded. The pitch, the score of imaging quality of coronary artery segments and the radiation dose were compared with one-way ANOVA. The influence of HR on image quality and radiation doses of coronary artery was analyzed. Results The value of pitch in Group A, Group B and Group C was 0. 241 ± 0. 025, 0. 286 ± 0. 034 and 0. 335 ± 0. 036,respectively. The mean score of imaging quality of coronary artery segments in Group A, Group B and Group C was 4. 78 ± 0. 26, 4. 66 ± 0. 56 and 4. 70 ± 0. 46, respectively. The value of CTDIvol in Group A,Group B and Group C was (18.06 ±5. 16), (19. 62 ±7. 15) and (17. 50 ±7. 13) mGy, respectively. The value of ED in group A, Group B and Group C was (4.23 ± 1.76), (4.59 ± 1.75) and (4.12 ±1.39) mSv, respectively. There was statistical difference in value of pitch among the three groups (F =60. 00, P= 0. 00). There were no statistical difference in score of imaging quality, CTDIvol and value of ED among the three groups (F = 0. 53, P = 0. 59; F = 0. 83, P = 0. 44 ; F = 0. 86, P = 0. 43). Conclusion Medium and low HR have little influences on image quality of dual-source CT coronary angiography at a low tube voltage. When the auto ECG-gating is selected, there is little influence on radiation dosage as well.

BACKGROUND: The selective innervation of different sacral nerve roots on bladder in SD mice is still uncertain.OBJECTIVE: To study the selective innervation of sacral nerve roots to bladder in order to provide evidence for rebuilding bladder function after spinal cord injury and establishing experimental animal model of artificial bladder.DESIGN: Randomized and controlled study.SETTING: Department of orthopaedics in two universities and physiological department of a medical university.MATERIALS: The experiment was conducted in the Key Laboratory of Hand Function Reconstruction of Ministry of Public Health in Medical College of Fudan University from October 2000 to June 2002. Totally 10 male SD mice of clean class with body mass between 250 and 300 g were chosen.INTERVENTIONS: The mice were randomly divided into two groups of which one used left side as experimental side and the other used right side. Extradural electric stimulation was conducted to St -4 nerve roots of SD mice after spinal cord injury.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: To record the change of action potential of cystic nerve plexus and compound muscle action potential of bladder smooth muscle, and insert the pressure monitor into bladder to record internal pressure of bladder by pressure transducer.RESULTS: S1 -4 nerve all participate the innervation of bladder in SD mice,among them, the S2 nerve is the most important one, next with S1, S3 and S4is the minimum one.CONCLUSION: Different sacral nerve roots have different dominative effects to bladder smooth muscle. It is meaningful for patients of spinal cord injury to improve their urination function by performing artificially electric stimulation for emiction through the main nerve roots controlling of bladder or rebuilding artificial bladder reflex arc by neurorrhaphy
