A biological study was made to estimate the influence of excess dietary zinc, in vivo, on iron and copper status and their antagonism. Chicks were randomly divided into four groups (n= 22 each) according to body weight and were fed on experimental diet with different amounts of zinc, iron and copper for 28 days. The results were as follows; 1. Excess dietary zinc (400ppm) caused retardation of growth rate in experimental chicks, hypochromic anemia, elevation of blood and tissues (liver, kidney) zinc levels and lowering iron, copper and ceruloplasmin content,and eryth-rocyte Cu-Zn-superoxide dismutase activity; 2. Copper alone supplemented up to 40ppm to the excess zinc diet was able to improve the growth rate, body copper status and Cu-Za-superoxide dismutase activity, but no effect on anemia and body iron status; 3. Iron and copper were supplemented up to 400ppm and 40ppm respectively to excess zinc diet at same time, all the parameters were similar to the chicks fed basal diet. These data suggested that supplement of iron and copper at proper proportion to excess zinc diet can prevent the adverse effects of excess zinc on chicks.

Objective To explore the effects of α-keto acid combined with low protein diet on oxidative stress and electrolyte levels in patients with diabetic nephropathy. Methods Ninety-eight cases with type 2 diabetic nephropathy were randomLy divided into the treatment group(low-protein diet with α-keto acid 1 tablet,n=58) and the control group(normal protein intake,n=40). The 24 h urinary albumin excretion rate,glomerular filtra-tion rate ,serum oxidative stress (SOD ,MDA ,AOPPs) and electrolyte levels were measured before and after treatment. Results After 24 weeks of treatment,the 24 h urinary albumin excretion rate of DN patients in the treatment group was significantly lower than that before treatment and the control group (P < 0.05). However, there was no significant change in the glomerular filtration rate of the patients. Compared with the control group , the serum SOD activity of DN patients was significantly increased and the levels of MDA and AOPPs were decreased(P < 0.05)after 24 weeks of treatment. Simultaneously,the levels of serum potassium and phosphorus in the treatment group was decreased ,while the levels of calcium and magnesium were improved (P < 0.05). Conclusion α-keto acid combined with low protein diet can significantly reduce the urinary albumin excretion rate,improve the body′s antioxidant activity,and maintain serum electrolytes balance.

[Objective]To introduce a new technique of ankle arthrodesis with trephine by lateral approach and evaluate its clinical effects.[Method]Ankle arthrodesis with trephine was performed in 20 patients with serious lesions.Lateral incision was adopted and osteotomy of fibula facilitated the exposure of the fusion site.A trephine of appropriate diameter was used for bi-osteotomy,thus inside the trephine gaining two bone blocks were then rotated 90? and replanted in situ.The pruned fibula was fixed with screws as on-lay!grafting.Proper cast was utilized postoperatively to maintain a functional position.[Result]The average follow-up period was 26 months(ranged from 6 months to 4 years).All the wounds healed well at 2 weeks and the callus appeared 4 weeks postoperatively.Sufficient pain relief was obtained in all patients at 12 weeks and appearance improved greatly.A solid union was achieved in all cases through the radiograph.[Conclusion]The use of trephine in ankle fusion by lateral approach is proved to be a simple technique with high union rate.The main advantages of the technique over other methods of arthrodesis include: excellent exposure by regular incision;less disturbance of the original joint,thereby preserving normal height of the joint and length of the extremity;no need for extra graft through in-situ grafting of the bone blocks and rigid on-lay grafting of lateral malleolus for high primary stability.

Objective:To study the application value of different operation methods in the treatment of left hepatolithiasis in special position (the stone is located in the sagittal section of left portal vein and/or near the proximal end of left hepatic vein).Methods:From July 2015 to June 2018, 58 patients with left hepatolithiasis in special position in Department of General Surgery, the First People′s Hospital of Tianmen City of Hubei Province were analyzed retrospectively. According to the different operation methods, they were divided into two groups: left liver excision under laparoscopy and gallbladder incision stone group (left liver excision group, n=28) and laparoscopic left-half liver excision and bile tube excision stone removal group (left half liver excision group, n=30). The operation time, intraoperative bleeding, postopera-tive hospital stay, postoperative biliary fistula, postoperative bleeding, postoperative stone residue and stone recurrence were compared between the two groups.The measurement data with normal distributions were represented as ( Mean± SD), and comparison between groups was done using the t test. The chi-square test and Fisher precision test were used for comparison between counting data. Results:All 58 patients underwent laparoscopic surgery. Left liver excision group surgery time, in-serum bleeding, number of days hospitalized after surgery, number of postoperative bile fistula cases, number of postoperative bleeding cases were (161.53±30.56) min, (203.45±26.69) mL, (9.26±3.3. 86) days, 1 case, 1 case, left half liver excision group (153.16±42.63) min, (198.79±30.82) mL, (9.59±4.01) days 1 case, 1 case, The difference between the two groups was not statistically significant ( P>0.05). The number of postoperative stone residues was more than that of the left liver and outer leaf excision group (4 cases) than that of the left half of the liver excision group (1 case), and the number of postoperative stone recurrence cases was more than that of the latter (1 case), all of which were statistically significant ( P<0.05). The number of stone residues and stone recurrences after left liver excision group was 4 and 5 cases respectively, and the left half liver excision nurses were 1 case and 1 case, respectively, and the difference between the two was statistically significant ( P<0.05). Conclusion:For the left hepatolithiasis in special position (the stone is located in the sagittal section of the left branch of the portal vein and (or near the proximal end of the left hepatic vein in imaging), the lower abdominal left hemihepatectomy + choledocholithotomy is a safer and more effective treatment.

From the perspective of portable monitoring devices,we use an analog front-end AFE4490 design a module of Non-invasive blood oxygen measurement, used to collect human pulse wave signal and peak (valley) value detection and then use the principles of non-invasive oximetry calculated oxygen saturation (SPO2). This design of noninvasive oximetry module has the characteristics of small size, low power consumption, and the results of test show that the measurement of oxygen saturation are correct.

BACKGROUND:Fetal bovine serum based media used for expanding and cryopreserving human mesenchymal stem cells raise safety concerns in the clinical setting. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the feasibility of human umbilical cord blood plasma as a replacement for fetal bovine serum in culture and cryopreservation of human mesenchymal stem cells derived from umbilical cord. METHODS:Umbilical cord blood units were suitable for this research if they fulfil ed the donor selection criteria of the Guangzhou Cord Blood Bank strictly. Cord blood plasma was ready to use after col ected from the plasma reduction during the suitable cord blood units processing and pooling. Umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells were harvested from the umbilical cord tissue of health ful-term newborns after delivery by enzyme digestion and were cultured in the presence of Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium/Ham’s nutrient mixture F-12 containing either fetal bovine serum or pooled cord blood plasma. Morphology, proliferation, immunophenotype detected by flow cytometry and differentiation toward adipogenic and osteogenic lineages were utilized for investigating the effect of media on umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells after 3-5 passages. Then cells were cryopreserved in media containing 10%dimethyl sulfoxide, 20%fetal bovine serum or 20%pooled cord blood plasma for at least 6 months. Viability, adhesion, proliferation, immunophenotype and osteogenic differentiation of the cells were assessed after thawing. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The morphology (spindle-shaped and plastic-adherent), phenotype and differentiation potential (osteogenic and adipogenic) were almost indistinguishable between cells cultured in fetal bovine serum or cord blood plasma medium, while cells grown in cord blood plasma medium demonstrated significantly higher proliferation rates than those in medium containing fetal bovine serum. After thawing, the cells maintained their adherence to the culture surface and differentiation potential to osteoblasts, but cells from cord blood plasma cryopreservation medium showed significantly better plastic attachment and produced greater cellnumbers than fetal bovine serum for the first three post-thaw passages. The results demonstrate that cord blood plasma can sever as an effective substitute to fetal bovine serum for growth, maintenance and differentiation of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells, and thus it wil be a safe choice for clinical-scale production of human mesenchymal stem cells.

Objective To evaluate the early and mid-term efficacy of endoscopic vein harvesting(EVH) undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting(CABG) in patients over 70 years old.Methods Patients' data of CABG were analyzed retrospectively in General Hospital of Shenyang Military Region from June 2011 to January 2013.400 patients were enrolled in the study according to the inclusion criteria.All patients were divided into two groups by the method of harvesting great saphenous vein (GSV):EVH group (n =200) and open vein harvesting(OVH) group(n =200).Each group was divided into two subgroups:group A(age≥70 years old) and group B (age ＜ 70 years old).The number of the group A was 85 in the EVH group and 79 in the OVH group.The number of the group B was 115 in the EVH group and 121 in the OVH group.The intraoperative findings,the quality of GSV and postoperative pain were evaluated,patients were followed up regularly after discharge.Results The postoperative complications occurred in the EVH group such as numbness and edema of lower limb in group A reduced greatly compared with group B(P ＜ 0.05).However,in the OVH group,there were no great difference in group A and group B(P ＞ 0.05) besides the postoperative pain (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The early and mid-term efficacy of EVH undergoing CABG is satisfied,especially in the patients over 70 years old.

Object　To determine the amount of acacetin-7-O-β-D-glucoside and apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucoside in Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat. from different localities. Methods　By the use of HPLC. Results　The contents of acacetin-7-O-β-D-glucoside in Boju1, Chuju2, Gongju3 and Hangju4 were 0.082 6%～0.124 9%, 0.015 7% and 0.033 5% respectively; the contents of apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucoside in Chuju, Boju, Gongju and Hangju were 0.012 6%, 0.027 4%, 0.117 7% and 0.587 7% respectively. Conclusion　The contents of the two flavone glycoside in C. morifolium from different localities were markedly different.

Purpose:To clarify the different expression patterns of the cyclins and P21 between the normal breast epithelium cells and breast cancer cells of different degrees of malignancy.Methods:Using Western Blot, we detected the protein expression of cyclin D1, E, and p21 in the normal breast epithelium cells AG11132A, ER positive MCF 7 breast cancer cells and ER negative MDA MB 231 breast cancer cells.Results:(1) P21 protein was highly expressed and cyclin E lowly expressed in the normal breast epithelium cells. Compared with the normal breast epithelium cells, Cyclin E were highly expressed in breast cancer cells of MCF 7 and MDA MB 231 cells. Abnormal low molecular weight cyclin E was co expressed with normal cyclin E in both MCF 7 and MDA MB 231 breast cancer cells, but not in normal breast epithelium cells AG11132A. (2) In breast cancer cells, compared with the ER positive MCF 7 cells the ER negative MDA MB 231 cells expressed a high level of cyclin E protein but low p21.Conclusions:(1) There are many forms of differences both quantitive and qualitative between normal cells and cancer cells, as well as between relatively low degree and high degree invasive malignant cancer cells. (2) Cyclin E and P21 may be potential indicators that reflect the malignancy of breast cancer cells, but they should be analyzed as a whole in order to get more accurate prognostic information. [
