Musashil is an evolutionarily conserved RNA binding protein. It plays an important role in the aspects of maintaining stem cell state, differentiation and tumorigenesis. Notch signal pathway plays an important role in the proliferation of neural stem cells after cerebral ischemia. This article briefly introduces the structure and molecular characteristics of Musashil and Notch, and reviews the interaction in the neurogenesis of Musashil and Notch signaling pathway after cerebral ischemic reperfusion.

Objective To improve the curative effect of non-invasive therapy for biliary ascariasis to shorten the course of treatment and minimize the chance of invasive managements such as surgery and endoscopic therapy. Methods The sequential therapy was conducted as: intravenous injection of vitamin C → oral administration of acid drug → expel the worm in the biliary tract. Results For the 19 cases of biliary ascariasis, 15 responded to the conservative treatment after one course of treatment,2 responded to it after two courses, 1 after 3 courses and 1 did not. Conclusion Sequential therapy is effective, convenient and simple for biliary ascariasis and it can reduce the chance of invasive management.

Objective To investigate the cognitive behavioral characteristic longitudinally of the patients after subcortical infarction engaged in feature and binding working memory tasks.Methods The behavioral performances were recorded from 28 patients after subcortical infarction at the 1 st week (W1),3 rd moth (M3) and 6th month (M6) while performing color,location,and color-location binding delayed match-to-sample working memory task.25 healthy volunteers(controls) were investigated once using the same task protocol during the study period.Computer recorded the behavior reaction time and accuracy.Single factor variant analysis of repeated measurement was adopted.Results The accuracy of three memory tasks of M3 ((64.92 ± 5.47) ％ ; (92.88 ± 2.98) ％ ;(82.35 ±7.44)％) was improved than that of W1 ((61.06 ±7.78)％; (90.59 ±2.95)％; (77.06 ±5.58) ％) and the difference had statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).But the reaction time of M3 ((868.31 ±118.91)ms; (833.37 ± 120.99) ms; (918.72 ± 101.28) ms) was shortened than that of W1 ((914.02 ±110.53) ms; (859.89 ± 139.94) ms; (1150.17 ± 92.02) ms) and the difference also had statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).In the location-memory task,the correct rate of M6 ((93.91 ± 2.86) ％) was improved than that of M3 ((92.88 ± 2.98) ％) and the reaction time of M6 ((813.24 ± 119.54) ms) was shortened than M3 ((833.37 ±120.99) ms).M6 and M3 to be compared in the color memory task,the correct rate ((64.50 ± 4.49) ％ ; (64.92 ± 5.47) ％) and the reaction time ((866.47 ± 123.87) ms; (868.31 ± 118.91) ms) had no significant difference (P ＜ 0.05).But in the color-location binding task,the correct rate of M6 ((78.49 ± 7.85) ％) and M3 ((82.35 ± 7.44)％) to be compared had significant decreased nearly the level ((77.06 ± 5.58)％) of the stroke beginning.All behavioral performances of patients were worse than that of control subjects except the compare result of location-memory task in M6((93.91 ± 2.86) ％ ; (813.24 ± 119.54) ms).Conclusion Feature memory and binding memory had been damaged in different degrees in the patient after subcortical infarction.The binding memory had the secondary damage what might be related to the secondary nerve fiber degeneration after infarction.

Objective To explore the clinical value of the serum cystatin C (Cys C) changes in different periods of the infantile pneumonia.Methods Ninety-two cases of infantile pneumonia (59 mild pneumonia patients and 33 severe pneumonia patients) from November 2012 to March 2013 were collected and 40 cases of healthy infant were enrolled for control group.The levels of serum Cys C,urea and creatinine in acute and recovery period were detected.Results In severe pneumonia patients,the average level of Cys C in acute period [(1.98±0.33) mg/L] is significantly higher than that in control group [(0.85 ±0.24) mg/L] (P ＜0.01),and there was no significant difference between recovery period [(1.12 ± 0.23) mg/L] and control group (P ＞ 0.05),and there was significant difference between acute and recovery period (P ＜0.05).In mild pneumonia patients,there were no significant differences in the level of Cys C between the acute period [(1.10 ±0.22) mg/L] and recovery period [(0.94 ±0.21) mg/L] as well as control group (P ＞ 0.05).The positive rate of Cys C in severe pneumonia patients (51.9％,14/27) was higher than that of urea and creatinine (3.7％,1/27) (P ＜0.01).Conclusion Severe pneumonia could result in renal dysfunction,which is reversible.Cys C can be the clinical reference for early diagnosis and the therapeutic effect in severe pneumonia patients with renal dysfunction.

Objective To observe the characteristic, mechanisms and the change of pathophysiology about thoracic explosive injury from an explosive device. Methods Seventy-three millimetres prefabricated steel-ball bomb was used to be the center of explosion. According to the distance from each group to the center of explosion, 30 sheep were randomly divided into 5 groups. The injuries of thoracic wall, lung and surrounding organs were observed from fragments and blast wave. Results The mortality of thoracic explosive injury on the ground testing was 56.7%.Most of fragment wounds were blind wound. The track of wounds was often complicated and curved. The major associated injuries were myocardial contusion, splenic-hepatic rupture and gastric-enteric rupture. There were much severe pulmonary hemorrhage and lung edema. The parameters of trauma were well correlated with the severity of thoracic injury.　Conclusion The parameters of trauma were well correlated with the severity of thoracic injury. The characteristic of thoracic injury from explosive device was more complicated and severe.

ObjectiveTo investigate the correlations between Herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection and acute myocardial infarction(AMI).MethodsSpecific antibodies and DNA to HSV-1 were measured in 51 patients with AMI(AMI group),42 patients with old myocardial infarction (OMI group) and 31 normal controls (NC group) who had no angiographic evidence of coronary artery disease.Moreover,the changes of and relationships between fibrinogen(Fg),6-Keto-prostaglandin-F 1? (6-Keto-PGF 1? ),Thromboxane B 2 (TXB 2 ),P-selection(GMP 140 ) and HSV-1 infection were determined in the three groups.ResultsThe prevalence of HSV-1IgG antibody was associated with AMI(OR4.266).Adjustment for the major cardiovascular risk factors didn't attenuate this correlation(OR3.321).Those who were HSV-1 positive in the AMI group had significantly higher levels of Fg,TXB 2 and GMP 140 and a significantly lower level of 6-Keto-PGF 1? than those who were HSV-1 negative in the same group.Correlation analysis revealed that the average concentration of IgG antibody to HSV-1 was positively associated with the levels of Fg,TXB 2 and GMP 140 but negatively associated with the level of 6-Keto-PGF 1? in the HSV-1 positive patients of the AMI group.ConclusionThere is a significant correlation between HSV-1 infection and AMI.HSV-1 infection is associated with Fg,TXB 2 ,6-Keto-PGF 1? and GMP 140 .

Objective To investigate the correlations between chlamydia pneumoniae (Cpn) infection and acute myocardial infarction(AMI). Methods Specific antibodies and DNA to Cpn were measured in 51 patients with AMI(AMI group),42 patients with elderly myocardial infarction (OMI group) and 31 normal controls (NC group), 33 patients(UC group)who had no angiographic evidence of coronary artery disease. Moreover,the levels of fibrinogen(Fg),6-ketoprostaglandin f1alpha(6-Keto-PGF1?),thromboxane B2(TXB2) and P-selection(GMP 140) were determined in the four groups. Results The prevalence of Cpn IgG antibody was associated with AMI(OR 3.65).Adjustment for the major cardiovascular risk factors did not attenuate this correlation(OR 3.17). Those who were Cpn positive in the AMI group had significantly higher levels of Fg,TXB2 and GMP 140, and a significantly lower level of 6-Keto-PGF1? than those who were Cpn negative in the same group.Correlation analysis revealed that the average concentration of IgG antibody to Cpn was positively associated with the levels of Fg,TXB2 and GMP140 but negatively associated with the level of 6-Keto-PGF1? in the Cpn positive patients of the AMI group. Conclusions There is a significant correlation between Cpn infection and AMI. Cpn infection is associated with the levels of Fg,TXB2, 6-Keto-PGF1? and GMP140 in plasma.

Objective To investigate whether tolterodine combined with pelvic floor electrical stimulation is more effective than tolterodine alone in the treatment of wonen with overactive bladder(OAB) and the underlying mechanism.Methods Seventy-three female patients with OAB were recruited from our hospital during Oct.2009 to Dec.2010 and prospectively studied,of whom 39 cases were given tolterodine(2 mg each time,twice daily for4 weeks)alone while the other 34 cases were given tolterodine combined with pelvic floor electrical stimulation for the treatment of OAB.Data on urgency,incontinence,micturition frequency,nocturia episodes and voided volume were collected before and after 4 weeks' treatment using a week micturition diary.Results The differences of changes of OAB symptoms between the 2 groups had statistical significance (P ＜ 0.05).Patients in the tolterodine combined with pelvic floor electrical stimulation group reported treatment benefit than the tolterodine group in the micturitions and the volume voided per micturition(P ＜ 0.05).There were no difference in the number of urgency episodes per 24 hours,incontinence episodes and nocturnal episodes (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusion A combination of toterodine with pelvic floor electrical stimulation could significantly improve the OAB symptoms,and is a potential therapy for female patients with OAB.

The clinical data were retrospectively analyzed for 21 cases of liver neoplasms undergoing laparoscopic hepatectomy from December 2007 to October 2012.Among 11 cases of borderline hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) (1.0-9.0 cm),6 of them were of micro hepatocellular carcinoma (MHCC) with a diameter ≤2 cm.There were 10 cases of borderline hepatic benign tumor,including liver hemangioma (n =7),hepatic adenoma (n =1),liver lymphoma (n =1) and liver focal necrosis (n =1).According to Couinaud's liver segmentation method,neoplasm was located on segment Ⅲ (n =13),segment Ⅳ (n =6),segment Ⅴ (n =1) and segment Ⅵ (n =1).Laparoscopic hepatectomy was successful in all patients.There was neither conversion into open approach nor postoperative complications of bile leakage,air embolism or perioperative mortality,etc.The mean operative duration was (120 ± 30) minutes,average hemorrhagic volume (165-±79) ml and normal diet & ambulation at Day 1-2 post-operation.The average postoperative hospitalization stay was (16 ± 10)days and l-year survival rate 100％.The parameters of leucocyte,liver enzymes,albumin and bilirubin returned to normal at Week 1 post-operation.Once a reasonable surgical indication is selected,laparoscopic resection is both safe and effective for peripheral micro hepatocellular carcinoma.

Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of the estrogen receptor beta isoforms and survivin in thyroid tumors. Methods The pathological data of 125 patients with thyroid tumors were, collected from june 2003 to june 2007 in our institution, including thyroid carcinoma (86 cases), thyroid follicular adenoma (39 cases) and normal thyroid tissue (10cases). SP immunohistochemistry was used to measure the expressions of ERβ and survivin in the thyroid tumors. Results ERβ not only was detected in the thyroid epithelial cell plasma and nuclear, but also in the stroma. The positive rate of ERβ in cases with thyroid carcinoma, adenoma and normal thyroid tissue were 83.72 %, 51.28 % and 20.00 % respectively. There was significant difference between carcinoma and the adenoma or normal thyroid tissue (P<0.05). The positive rate of survivin in cases with carcinoma, adenoma and normal thyroid tissue were 59.30 %, 17.95 % and 0 respectively. There was significant difference between carcinoma and the adenoma or normal thyroid tissue (P<0.05). The expressions of ERβ and survivin correlated with TNM staging and lymph node metastasis of thyroid carcinoma (P<0.05). Conclusion ERβ may play a role in accelerating proliferation in the occurrence of the thyroid carcinoma. The expressions of ERβ and survivin are related to invasion and metastasis of thyroid carcinoma.
