Strain F-11 and several other strains of Halobacteria were isolated from saltern soils in China. Strain F-11 is Gram negative rod and obligate aerobe. Optimum salt concentration for strain F-11 growth is 16%-30% NaCl and no growth below 12% NaCl. And strain F-11 can produced carotenoids pigments. Therefore, strain F-11 is considered as one member of extreme halobacteria.Natural pigment B1 is mainly produced by strain F-ll. Compound B1 is obtained as a red crystal and soluble in organic solvents, but no soluble in water. Compound Bl exhibits a molecular ion by EI-MS at m/z 740. 6, corresponding to the formula C50H76O4.The UV and IR spectra of Bl is identical to that of bacterioruberin, which is one member of C-50 carotenoids. These data coupled with 'H NMR and MS spectral data allowed us to consider that compound Bl is identical with bacterioruberin.

Therefore, strain F-5 is considered as one member of extreme Halogacteria.Natural pigment F-5-C1 is mainly produced by strain F-5. F-5-C1 is obtained as a purple crystal and soluble in organic solvents, but no soluble in water. F5-C1 exhibits a molecular ion by EI-MS at m/z 536. 9, corresponding to the formula C40H56. The UV and IR spectra of F-5-C1 is identical with that of fj-carotene (E. Merck product), which was isolated from carrot. These informations coupled with 'HNMR, 13CNMR and MS spectral data allowed us to consider that F-5-C1 is identified with B-carotene. And this is the first report on B-carotene produced by one strain of Halobacteria.

This paper summarizes the literature and gives examples to try and illustrate that the seas are important habitat of new species of microorganisms and ex-tremophiles; the marine environment is a rich source of novel bioactive natutal products, many of which have not been found in terrestrial sources. Undoubtfully ,the resources of marine microorganisms are likely to play an important role in the discovery of new drugs in the 21st century.

Microorganisms isolated from the sea extreme condition have the potential to prqvide. diverse bioactive substances that are present to their metabolites. Organisms with pH optimal for growth in alkaline range and with temperature optimal for growth in lower temperature range are defines as alkalopsychrophilic microorganisms,which are one of rich resources of bioactive compounds for further stuties with both scientific interest and practical use.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the sterilizing effect of Avagard surgery wasting liquid.METHODS All the staff on operation were divided into two groups at random,each no less than 50 persons.Both groups were sterilized by 4% Avagard surgery washing liquid.In one group,hands and forearms were smeared by 0.5% Avagard fast surgery washing liquid(smearing group),the other group was not smeared by 0.5% Avagard fast surgery washing liquid(no-smearing group).In both groups the samples were derived from fingers and cultured right after sterilization and at intervals of 1h,2h,3h,4h,5h and 6h during operation,and to investigate the sterilization effect.RESULTS The bacteriological detections of both groups in all times showed that the number of colony was0.05).CONCLUSIONS The results of the experiment show that 4% Avagard surgery washing liquid is reliable for its sterilizing effect and easy to use.The duration of antibacterial effect is no less than 6 hours,this method could reduce the cost of the operation and improve the efficiency of work.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and atherosclerosis (AS) have considerable similarities in clinical risk factors and molecular pathogenesis. The aim of our study was to investigate the differences between AAA and AS from the perspective of metabolomics, and to explore the potential mechanisms of differential metabolites via integration analysis with transcriptomics. Plasma samples from 32 AAA and 32 AS patients were applied to characterize the metabolite profiles using untargeted liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). A total of 18 remarkably different metabolites were identified, and a combination of seven metabolites could potentially serve as a biomarker to distinguish AAA and AS, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.93. Subsequently, we analyzed both the metabolomics and transcriptomics data and found that seven metabolites, especially 2'-deoxy-D-ribose (2dDR), were significantly correlated with differentially expressed genes. In conclusion, our study presents a comprehensive landscape of plasma metabolites in AAA and AS patients, and provides a research direction for pathogenetic mechanisms in atherosclerotic AAA.

OBJECTIVE: To better understand the pre-operation evaluation of donor kidneys from extended criteria donation after cardiac death and to improve the management during and after renal transplantation. METHODS: Both of the donor kidneys were from the donor who underwent liver transplantation 5 years ago in the Center of Organ Transplantation of Central South University. The donor was admitted because of liver function deterioration which led to hepatic coma, brain death, hepatorenal syndrome and cardiac death sequentially. Deceased donor score (DDS) and "zero point" kidney biopsy were applied to evaluate the donor kidney. After thorough examination of the donor and the renal function, renal transplantation was performed on 2 recipients. RESULTS: The recipients were followed up by 6 months, both of whom developed pulmonary infection and relieved after treatments. The kidney grafts functioned well and no surgical complication and no acute rejection occurred during the follow-up. CONCLUSION Proper evaluation of the donor organs ensures the safety of renal transplantation with kidneys from cardiac death donors who underwent liver transplantation, which is an important way to increase the number of organs for transplantation, yet the long-term effects need further observation.
