Objective Hemangioma had been recognized as one of the most common tumors; however, intramauscular hemangioma (IMH) was a kind of uncommon benign tumor in skeletal muscle. A large number of orthopaedic surgeons knew little about it's specific clinic features. This paper was to report the diagnosis and therapy of 110 IMH cases, and to review tbe causes for misdiagnosis as well. Methods From oct. 1962 to Dec. 1998, 110 patients underwent surgical therapy with the definitive histological diagnosis; the clinical feature, gender, age, value of X-ray imaging, computed tomography(CT), single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)?magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasonography of IMH were analysed. Surgical technique, pathological classification, postoperation effects, prognosis and recurrence reason were discussed. Measures for cmplication and recurrence prevention, differential diagnosis were put forward. Results Anatomical distribution was 11.82% in the neck, 10.91% in the trunk, 16.36% in the upper limb and 60.91% in the lower limb. The disease was characterized by localized pain within soft tissue, local mass, deep tenderness, muscular soreness and mass expansion after exercise. According to Allen's classification, three types were defined: 1) capillary type; 2) cavernous type; 3) mixed type, combination of both, which included miscellaneous types of deep soft tissue(venous,arteriovenous,epithelioid and granulation tissue type). There were capillary type (38.18%), cavernous (33.64%) and mixed type(28.18%). Forty-nine of 110 cases were followed up for an average of six years and two months, the result of 48.98% patients was excellent, 22.45% was good, and 20.41% was unsatisfactory. Only four of 49 cases had local recurrence which was susceptible to infection. Conclusion Intra muscular hemangioma is easy to be mis or under diagnosed, especialy when it is deep or small localized, and it can rarely be diagnosed radiologically unless calcified phlebolithes occurs. Usually, peripheral nerve is not invaded, but could be compressed by the tumor. MRI is most helpful to define the diagnosis, and SPECT can also provide helpful diagnostic information. Although it can be treated by various methods, surgical excision provides the best result. Recurrence can always attribute to incomplete excision. Wide excision of the lesion is the treatment of choice. Preoperative embolization of IMH can reduce intraoperative blood shedding. Embolization combined with surgery forms a new modern approach to treat IMH.

Objective To explore the effects of ultraviolet, magnetic field and drug therapy on chemotherapeutic phlebitis(CP) in rabbits. Methods CP models were established by injecting vinorelbine into ear-edge veins of rabbits, and resulting in red swelling and fever of the skin. Twelve Japanese albino rabbits were randomly divided into four groups: a control group(C group), an ultraviolet therapy group (UT group), a magnetic field therapy group (MF group) and a drug group (D group). Twenty-four rabbit ears were observed by use of naked eyes and pathohistological examination after correspond treatment. Results Compared with those in C group, inflammation symptoms and edema in UT and MF groups were mitigated significantly by using of naked eyes and pathohistological examination (P 0.05) . Objective To observe the toxicity of fangyouling after one month’s transdermal administration in rabbits and evaluate its security. Methods Forty rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups including a control group and low,middle and high dose groups of fangyouling. The rabbits in the control group were administered with sunflower oil,and the other rabbits were administrated dermally with fangyouling of 50,300 and 2 000 mg/kg respectively once a day for 4 weeks. The general con?dition,the skin irritation reaction,body weight,food consumption,hematology,blood biochemistry,organ coefficients and his?topathological changes of all the rabbits were observed. Results There was no obvious effect on the general condition in all the rabbits. However,the mild skin irritation was observed in 2 rabbits of the middle dose group and 4 rabbits of the high?dose group. The decreases of body weight and food consumption were noted in the high dose group. No changes were detected of hema?tology,blood biochemistry or viscera pathological at all dose levels. Conclusion The dose of non?toxic response of fangyouling is 50 mg/kg at this study condition.

Purpose:The efficacy of evaluation of changes of tumoral uptake of 3'-deoxy-3'-[~(18)F] fluorothymidine (FLT) was comparatively analyzed with that of ~(18)F-FDG at early stage after anticancer chemotherapy.Materials and Methods:Cells derived from human lung adenocarcinoma were incubated with cisplatin (CDDP),5-fluorouracil(5-FU),doxorubicin (Dox),for 1,4,24 and 72h.The doses(CD-DP: 67 μM; 5-FU 1,540 μM;MTX: 440 μM;) were determined corresponding to a estimated 10% - 95% proliferation inhibition.The cells were allowed to recover before FLT or FDG being added into the culture media for 60 min.Cell counts,viability,estimated by MTT method,were used to evaluate the cytotoxic effects of chemotherapy.Results: FLT uptake was increased significantly at 1 and 4 h after treatment with 5-FU( 145 ± 12%,150 ± 14%,P <0.01).decreased at 24 h and 72 h.In contrast,FLT accumulation was significantly reduced at cytostatic concentrations of CDDP at different time.The uptake of FDG did not change significantly at early time points after treatment,but decreased at 72 h.Conclusion: The tumor cell uptake of FLT revealed specific changes depending on the auti-cancer drug used at much earlier time than FDG after chemotherpay.

BACKGROUND:At present, some neurological imaging methods, including MRI, fMRI, 2-(1-(6-[(2-[18F]fluoroethyl)(methyl)amino]-2-naphthyi) ethylidene) malononitrile (18F-FDDNP) positron emission tomography (PET), are helpful but not specific for the diagnosis of Alzheimer disease (AD). 18F-FDG is a special marker of beta-amyloid (Aβ), thus AD can be diagnosed by 18F-FDDNP PET at early period.OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the role of 18F-FDDNP PET in the diagnosis of AD, and establish reliable clinical biological indexes for the diagnosis of AD patients.DESIGN: A controlled analysis.SETTINGS : Department of Geriatric Neurology and Department of Nuclear Medicine, the General Hospital of Chinese PLA. PARTICIPANTS: Patients visiting the General Hospital of Chinese PLA from May 2004 to March 2005 were selected. Informed consents were obtained from all the participants. ① AD group (n =7): (74.88±12.03) years old; Accorded with the criteria related to diagnosis of AD in NINCDS/ADRDA (National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke/Alzheimer Disease and Related Disease Association) and revision of Diagnostic and statistical Manual (DSM-Ⅳ, 4th ed.); brain CT or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination displayed that inter-uncus distance of temporal lobes was ≥ 30 mm. ② Vascular dementia group (n =6): (73.83±4.75) years old; Accorded with the diagnostic criteria of NINDS-AIREN (National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke, USA) and DSM-Ⅳ for vascular dementia; Inter-uncus distance of temporal lobes ＜ 30 mm. ③ Control group (n =6): (71.17±3.71) years old; Without rarefaction of white matter; Intelligence examination was normal.METHODS: PET was performed in all the subjects. PET scanner type was SEIMENS ECAT EXACT HR. The tracer selected was 18F-FDDNP which had radiochemical purity higher than 95% and error of radioactivity measurement lower than 10%. The images were collected at 5, 25 and 45 minutes after injection of 18F-FDDNP. Horizontal and coronary tomograms of brain were obtained after reconstruction.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Characteristics of 18F-FDDNP brain PET images.RESULTS: ① In the control group, signs of obvious atrophy of brain were not seen. At about 45 minutes, the radioactivity in cortex and subcortical nucleus groups was essentially cleared and the structures of brain could not be differentiated clearly. ② In the vascular dementia group, brain atrophy and enlargement of ventricular system to various degrees could be seen. The clearance of radioactivity at three time points was similar to that in the control images. ③ In the AD group, the brain was obviously atrophied and the ventricular system was enlarged. The clearance of radioactivity at the three time points was significantly different from the images of other two groups. The radioactivity in cortex and hippocampus was cleared slower. At 45 minutes, the gray matter could still be clearly differentiated from the white matter, but the radioactivity in corpus striatum and thalamus was not higher than that in cortex and much radioactivity retention could be seen in cortex and hippocampus.CONCLUSION: 18F-FDDNP PET brain images can differentiate AD and vascular dementia, and it is an effective imaging index for the diagnosis of AD.

Objective To evaluate the roles of positron emission tomography (PET) with N-methyl [11C]2-(4' -methylaminophenyi-6-hydroxybenzathiazole) (11C-PIB) in the early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD).Methods Six AD patients,7 mild cognitive impairment (MCI) patients and 6 normal controls (NC) were diagnosed and assessed with brain PET with 11C-PIB.The emission images obtained at 5,25 and 45 min after 11C-PIB administration were analysed.Results Using visual analysis to summarize the characteristics of the imagings of each group: comparing to NC,the AD patients show high 11C -PIB up take,and low clearance rate of 11C-PIB at 45 min.The imagings of MCI group show heterogeneous,overlapping with AD and NC group.The statistical analysis shows: in AD group,the standard uptake value (SUV) ratio of parietal lobe,frontal lobe,temporal lobe,occipital lobe and hippocampal at 45 min was 1.91±0.21,2.09±0.41,1.92±0.35,1.66±0.41,1.55±0.28 respectively,and were higher than that of NC group (value being 1.48±0.53,1.57±0.64,1.36±0.53,1.27±0.40,1.17±0.33) with statistical significance,t=8.114,5.620,5.705,3.650 and 2.866,P=0.0001,0.0002,0.0002,0.0045 and 0.0170 respectively.In MCI group,the SUV ratio of parietal lobe,frontal lobe,temporal lobe,occipital lobe and hippocampal at 45 min was 1.48 ± 0.53,1.57 ± 0.64,1.36±0.53,1.27 ± 0.40,1.17±0.33 respectively,and were higher than that of NC group,but there was no statistical significance.Conclusion 11C-PIB PET imaging can differentiate AD patients from normal and anticipate the transformation of MCI patients.

Objective To discuss the security and reliability of preoperative thoracoscopic pericardial exploratory and to evaluate of the surgical indications.Methods Video full-assisted thoracoscopic pericardioscopy has been implemented in 41 central type lung cancer cases before radical resection.Results Video assisted pericardioscopy group underwent thoracotomy lung resection with procession of intrapericardial pulmonary artery in 8 cases (partial pericardial resection in 2 cases),with pulmonary vein in 10 cases,and out-pericardial lung resection in 9 cases.Spiral CT projections were consistent with surgery was only 65.8 ％.The average time of explorationa was (23±10) min.Conclusion Except for widely used in pulmonary wedge resection and lobectomy,video-assisted thoracoscopic pericardial exploration can improve resection rate and survival rate in central type lung cancer patients which can reduce the need for exploratory thoracotomy.

Objective To explore the composition principles of prescriptions for simple obesity based on the analysis of medical literature issued in recently 30 years about Chinese medicine for simple obesity. Methods We collected literature of Chinese medicine in treating simple obesity from VIP, CNKI, Wanfang, CBM and CMCC/CMCI databases, and screened out the formulas for simple obesity to establish a formula database. And then the medication rules were figured out with the Traditional Chinese medicine Inheritance Support System version 2.5 (TCMISS 2.5) software. Results A total of 57 formulas were screened out. And the top 10 herbs with highest occurrence frequency in the prescriptions were Poria, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Rhizoma Alismatis, Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, Fructus Crataegi, Radix Astragali, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Folium Nelumbinis, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae and Semen Cassiae. After data mining, we got 13 high-frequency herb-pair combinations and 31 core combinations, and 8 new prescriptions were extracted. Conclusion The research has achieved the quantitative description of the relationship between the Chinese medicines, the extraction of the core combinations and the discovery of new Chinese medicine prescriptions for simple obesity. The results will provide references for the development of new Chinese medicines for the treatment of simple obesity .

Objective To evaluate the clinical outcomes of periprosthetic femoral fractures (PFF) following hip arthroplasty utilizing locking compression plates (LCP) in regard to tips and tricks on the construction of LCP augmented with locking attachment plate (LAP) and titanium cables (TC).Methods A total of 41 cases of PFF follow hip arthroplasty (THA 3,Hemi-arthroplasty 2) between May 2008 to April 2016 have been retrospectively analyzed.There were 13 males and 28 females with an average age of 70.5±8.6 years,including 11 case of Unified Classification System (UCS) type Ⅳ.3B1.1,21 cases of B2.1 and 9 cases of type C.All were closed fractures caused by simple fall in terms of low-energy injury.Surgical options depended on individual configuration of the fractures with the combination of LCP and LAP or TC.In respect of reduction techniques,minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) was used in 5 cases for type B1.1 and 8 cases for type C,Mini-open in 6 cases for type B1.1 and 1 case for type C.Posterolateral approach with open reduction internal fixation were selected for type B2.1.The patients were followed up periodically.Harris score,Mukundan criteria and complications were recorded.Results Five cases died of the comorbidities (heart failure 3,pulmonary infection 1,multiple organs failure 1) within 1 year postoperatively.The follow-up rate was 78.0％ (32 out of 41 cases) and the average follow-up time was 41 months (ranging 11 to 71 months).No malunion,no reduction lost,no hardware failure,no hip dislocation and revision surgery following PFF care found.All cases showed the signs of fracture healing from 8 to 12 (average 10 weeks) postoperatively except 2 cases of delay union.The postoperative complications shown in 11 cases,including 2 cases of superficial infection of the wound,6 cases of deep vein thrombosis (popliteal vein 2,intramural gastrocnemius vein 4) and 3 cases of the prosthetic loosening.Harris score at the latest follow-up were 91.5±2.1 for group B1.1,77.5±4.2 for group B2.1 and 83.5±3.8 for group C.The LCP lengths were 248.9±24.3 mm,258.6±25.2 mm,280.4±24.0 mm for group B1.1,B2.1 and C respectively.The LCP length of group B1.1 was short than that of group C (P＜0.05).The screw numbers for the proximal fragments were 6.1±1.8,6.5±0.7 and 3.8±0.7 for group B1.1,B2.1 and C respectively.The number of screws used in B1.1 and B2.1 were more than that in C (P＜0.05).The screw numbers for the distal fragments were 3.5±0.5,3.9±0.5 and 5.1±0.8 for group B1.1,B2.1 and C respectively,indicating less screws used in B1.1 and B2.1 than that in C (P＜0.05).The cable numbers were 1.9±1.3,2.5±0.9 and 3.7±0.7 respectively for group B1.1,B2.1 and C (P＜0.05).The LAP used in 2,12 and 6 cases for type B 1.1,B2.1 and C respectively without significant difference statistically (P＞0.05).Conclusion Utilizing LCP for PFF following hip arthroplasty can achieve satisfactory short and mid-term clinical outcomes with the prerequisites of precise and individualized preoperative planning.LCP augmented by LAP and TC is a reliable option with low complication rate.However,type C PFF needs longer plate with more screws at distal fragment and more titanium cables.
