An indirect square polarographic method was established f or the determination of ascorbic acid in pharmaceuticals using the oxidation-re duction action between Cu2＋ and ascorbic acid. There was a reduction wav e of Cu2＋ at about －0．24　V in buffer solution of NH3-NH4 Cl. The quantities of ascorbic acid is determination according to the decrement of peak heights when ascorbic acid was added. The linear range for ascrobic acid was 2.0×10－6～3．0×10－4 mol/L. Ascorbic acid in Vitami n C tablets was determined, the relative standard deviation is 2.9%.

Objective To understand the indoor air quality in some residential houses decorated for different times in Shijiazhuang, China. Methods To monitor formaldehyde, ammonia, benzene, toluene and dimethylbenzene levels in indoor air of 220 rooms decorated within 2 years. Results The exceed standard rates of formaldehyde, ammonia, benzene, toluene and dimethylbenzene in indoor air were 51.63%, 42.13%, 5.39%, 7.46% and 7.69% respectively. The exceed standard rate of indoor air was the highest, 66.13%, in rooms decorated for 3 months. Conclusion Indoor air pollution caused by decoration is serious in Shijiazhuang. A correct choice of decoration materials and ventilation is essential to avoid the human heath damage caused by indoor air pollution.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Tiaoxinyin treatment for diabetic cardiac autonomic neuropathy (DCAN);To evaluate its efficacy and safety.Methods One hundred patients of DCAN were randomly divided into experimental group (51 cases) and control group (49 cases). Both groups were given basic treatment of diet control and Metformin hydrochloride tablets orally taking. Patients in the experimental group were given Tiaoxinyin, while patients in the control group were treated with Mecobalamin tablets for 8 weeks. Changes and untoward effects in blood glucose, blood fat and heart rate variability were observed before and after treatment so as to compare the efficacy of two groups.Results The total effective rate of the experimental group was 82.35% (42/51) and the control group was 63.27% (31/49), with statistical significance between the two groups (P<0.01). The TCM scores of the two groups decreased after treatment, with statistical significance compared with those before treatment (P<0.01). The difference in TCM scores between the two groups was significance (P<0.05). The level of FBG and 2 h PG in the two groups declined (P<0.05). Heart rate variability had statistical significance compared with that before treatment (P<0.05), with statistical significance between the two groups (P<0.05). No obvious adverse reaction was found.Conclusion Tiaoxinyin is effective and safe in treating DCAN and can improve the heart rate variability indicators in patients.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the distribution and drug resistance of pathogenic bacteria which caused respiratory infection among suscepted patients and offer scientific basis for reasonable usage of antibiotics.METHODS Oropharyngeal swabs among 709 cases of respiratory infection neonates were investigated by the routine methods and drug resistance was analyzed by K-B method.RESULTS Totally 438 bacterial strains were isolated from 709 neonates.most of these bacteria were Gram-negative bacilli(70.3%),among which Haemophilus influenzae and Klebsiella pneumoniae were accounted for 39.8% and 10.3%,respectively;fungi and Gram-positive cocci were accounted for 23.5% and 6.2%.CONCLUSIONS Most strains present higher resistance rates to penicillin and ampicillin;but cefoxitin,amikacin,vancomycin,imipenem and the third generation cephalosporins are revealed with higher sensitivity rates for pathogenic bacteria in newborns.

Objective To investigate the curative effect of the adenovirus-mediated fusion gene system driven by KDR promoter (AdKDR-CDglyTK) on a model of pancreatic cancer. Methods By using transplantation of the cultivated cells, human pancreatic cell line Capan-2 was injected subcutaneously on the back of nude mice to establish the animal model of the pancreatic cancer. Twenty nude mice were divided randomly and equally into four groups. The mice in group Ⅰ were injected with AdKDR-CDglyTK and 5-FC/GCV, those in group Ⅱ were injected with 5-FC/GCV, those in group Ⅲwere injected with AdKDR-CDglyTK and those in group Ⅳ received no any injection. AdKDR-CDglyTK was injected directly into the tumor and 5-FC/GCV was given by intraperitoneal injection. The observing parameters included common status, tumor bulk, tumor weight, inhibition rate of tumor growth, pathology, immunohistochemistry and treatment effect in each group. Electron microscopy was performed to observe the pathological changes of cells. The apoptotic cells in tumor were detected using the TUNEL assay. The expression of CDglyTK in tumors from each group was examined by RT-PCR. Results Tumor growth was dramatically inhibited in group Ⅰ. Tumor growth has no significant difference among groupⅡ , group Ⅲ and group Ⅳ. The apoptotic rate (34.20±4.60)% was significantly increased in group Ⅰ (F= 243. 22, P= 0. 00) and it had no significant difference among groupⅡ , group Ⅲ and group Ⅳ (P＞0.05). Conclusion AdKDR-CDglyTK with 5-FC/GCV can obviously inhibit the growth of human KDR-expressing pancreatic cell line Capan-2 and induce the cell apoptosis in vivo. The probable molecular mechanism lies in the facts that the system can cause a decline in the level of Bcl-2.

We injected collagenase into the lumbor disc(20 cases)or outside the lumbar disc(230 cases)for treating the patients with lumbar disc herniation from December 1994 to August 1996.200 cases had been followed up.The results were excellent or good in 91%.The authers in- troduced the operative method and its indications in detail,and suggested that chemonucleolysis is sate,good and easy to be operated with littlecomp lieation.Herniation more than 10mm in with cal- cification,lateral recess stenosis or recumance after the laminectomy are not the absolute contraindi- cations.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disorder primarily occurred in small joints.Our previous studies suggested that sufficient lymphatic drainage was favorable for the recovery of RA.This study aimed at exploring the effect of Er Chen combined with Tao Hong Si Wu Tang (ECSWT) on RA in TNF transgenic (TNF-Tg) mice.Ten-week old TNF-Tg mice and WT littermates were detected with indocyanine green-nearinfrared (ICG-NIR) lymphatic imaging system before and after accepting the 12-week intragastric administration of ECSWT.All ankle joints were assessed by micro-CT scanning.According to three dimensional images of Micro-CT,it was found that the ankle joints in the TNF-Tg group were much eroded compared with the control group.The bone mass and structure were protected after the treatment of ECSWT.ICG-NIR results showed that lymphatic clearance rate of the TNF-Tg group decreased compared with those of the control group.In comparison with the TNF-Tg group,ECSWT promoted the repair of lymphatic function.Compared with the control group,the pulse value of the TNF-Tg group declined;while this condition could be rescued by ERSWT.In conclusion,ECSWT mitigated bone erosion of astragalus bone area in TNF-Tg mice in contrast to the saline mice,while promoted the pulse value and clearance of lymphatic vessels afferent from footpad to popliteal lymph node,implying that ECSWT was a promising agent for treating RA through its promoting lymphatic drainage function effects.

Objective To understand the characteristics of the superinfection of hepatise B virus (HBV)together with hepatitis D virus(HDV)by comparing the differences of serum markers ALT,HBV DNA,HBVM,etc.In the pure HBV infection and the superinfection of HBV and HDV and to preliminarily invesitigate the pathogenesis of HDV.Methods The results of major bio-chemical indicators and hepatitis virus markers in 95 cases of HBV together with HDV infection and 100 cases of pure HBV infec-tion as the control group were statistically analyzed.Results Among 95 cases in the superinfection group,the incidence rate of chronic HBV was the highest,accounting for 66.32% and followed by liver cirrhosis.There was no statistical difference between the two groups according to the HBV DNA loads(P >0.05).The good positive correlation existed between the ALT abnormal rate of the liver function and HBV DNA in the superinfection group(r=0.90,P <0.05).The HBeAg negative mode was predominant in the superinfection group (P <0.05 ).There was no difference beween the two groups according to HBsAg > 250 IU/mL (P >0.05).According to HBsAg>250 IU/mL and HBeAg > 1 S/CO,the pure HBV infection group was higher than the super infec-tion group (P <0.05).The positive rate of HBcAb-IgM in the super infection group was significantly higher than that in the pure HBV group (P <0.05).Conclusion The superinfection of HBV together with HDV infection has the high occurrence rate in chro-nic hepatitis B.With the HBV DNA level increase,the abnormal rate of the liver function is also increased.HDV infection can inhib-it the HBeAg expression.The high positive rate of HBcAb-IgM in the superinfection patients might be related with chronic hepatitis B aggravation and recurrence.

60 curved root canals of permanent teeth with angles of curvature ranging from 15°to 40°(Schneider's methodology)were prepared using the instruments of Hyflex CM(HC) and ProTaper(PT) Universal respectively(n=30).Using standardized pre-and post-instrumentation paralleling periapical radiographs,canal curvature was determined by image analysis software and the clinical shaping effect of Hyflex CM and ProTaper rotary NiTi files were compared.The canal curvature in group HC and PT decreased by 4.54°±3.25° and 5.63°±3.84° respectively(between pre-and post-treatment in both groups,P<0.05;between groups,P>0.05).Hyflex CM can meet the clinical necessity for the instrumentation of curved root canals.

Objective To investigate the effect of acupuncture at Zusanli, Sanyinjiao and Danzhong on mammary estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) expressions in rats with dimethylbenzanthracine (DMBA)-induced mammary cancer. Methods One hundred and twenty female SD rats aged 6-8 weeks were randomized into a model group of 60 rats and a blank group of 30 rats. The model group received an oral gavage of DMBA for model making. The blank group received an oral gavage of equal volume of sesame oil. At 15 weeks after model making, the model group of rats was randomized into treatment and control groups. The treatment group received acupuncture at Zusanli, Sanyinjiao and Danzhong, and the control and blank groups, only the same grasp and release. After the completion of acupuncture treatment (twenty-seventh week), abdominal venous blood was taken and serum tumor markers were determined by electrochemiluminescence immunoassay. Tumor masses were counted and their shapes were recorded. The mass was taken and its height, maximum diameter and vertical diameter were measured using a 1 mm precision vernier caliper. Pathological changes in tumor tissues, and ER and PR positive areas and mean optical densities were observed under an Olympus optical microscope.Results There were statistically significant post-treatment differences in the average number and volume of mammary tumors between the treatment group and the control or blank group (P<0.01,P<0.05) and between the control and blank groups (P<0.01). There were statistically significant post-treatment differences in the concentrations of various tumor markers (CA724, CA125, CA199, AEP, CA15-3, CEA and CA50) between the treatment or control group and the blank group (P<0.01,P<0.05) and between the control and blank groups (P<0.01). There was a statistically significant post-treatment difference in CA15-3 concentration between the treatment and control groups (P<0.01). There were statistically significant post-treatment differences in ER and PR positive areas and mean optical densities between the treatment group and the control or blank group (P<0.01) and between the control and blank groups (P<0.01).Conclusions Acupuncture can reduce the occurrence of rat DMBA-induced mammary tumor (including the number and volumes of the tumors). The mechanism of its action may be related to decreasing the concentrations of tumor markers CA724, CA125, CA199, CA15-3, AEP, CEA and CA50 and especially to decreasing CA15-3 concentration, and ER and PR positive areas and mean optical densities.
