Journal of Environment and Health 2007;0(07):-
Objective To describe the relationship between ambient air pollutants(TSP,SO2,NOx) and the level of children’s lung function (FVC,FEV1,MMEF) in China. Methods The papers on ambient air pollution and children lung function published from 1985 to 2006 were collected and 11 of them were selected according to the following criteria: children aged 7-15; local air quality monitoring results were reported; strict quality control were taken when testing children lung function; the results were expressed by the average of measure. Results The selected papers included the results of 7 cities in China. Among them, the result of 6 cities showed that the levels of children lung function were significantly lower in the heavy air pollution areas compared with that in the light pollution areas. According to the papers, the average levels of ambient air TSP were in the range of 0.084 mg/m3-0.835 mg/m3,SO2(cSO2) were 0.013 mg/m3-0.929 mg/m3,NOx were 0.044 mg/m3-0.229 mg/m3,there was a significant negative correlation between the levels of TSP and SO2 and children FVC and FEV1,as well as the levels of NOx and children MMEF,the correlation coefficients were as follows,-0.797(t=-4.384,P=0.001) between TSP and FVC,-0.693(t=-4.190,P
2.Gegen Qin Lian Tang combined with human amniotic mesenchymal stem cell transplantation for early diabetic retinopathy
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2016;20(19):2824-2830
BACKGROUND:Human amniotic mesenchymal stem cel s have the potential to differentiate into insulin-secreting cel s and have immunomodulatory effects. Additional y, it has been clinical y proved that Gegen Qin Lian Tang can lower blood sugar. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of Gegen Qin Lian Tang combined with human amniotic mesenchymal stem cel transplantation on rat early diabetic retinopathy, by detecting pathological changes, levels of blood indicators and expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor in retinal tissues. METHODS:By intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin, 42 Wistar rat models with diabetes mel itus were prepared and then randomly divided into model group, human amniotic mesenchymal stem cel transplantation group (cel transplantation group) and combination of human amniotic mesenchymal stem cel s and Gegen Qin Lian Tang group (combination group). At 4 weeks after transplantation, levels of blood sugar and serum insulin in diabetic rats were detected;pathological changes of the retina in diabetic rats were observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining. Besides, expressions of CD45 and vascular endothelial growth factor mRNA were detected using immunohistochemistry staining and RT-PCR technology, respectively. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with the model group, the levels of blood glucose and serum insulin in both cel transplantation and combination groups were significantly decreased and increased, respectively, and these changes were even more significant in the combination group (P<0.05). In the model group, the retinal edema could be found, accompanied by structural disorder and irregular cel arrangement, while these retinal lesions were relatively milder in the cel transplantation group and significantly improved in the combination group. In addition, the CD45 expression and in the retina was highest in the model group subsequently fol owed by the cel transplantation group (P<0.05) and lowest in the combination group (P<0.05). Furthermore, compared with the model group, the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor mRNA was also significantly lower in the other two groups, especial y in the combination group (P<0.05). These data show that Gegen Qin Lian Tang combined with human amniotic mesenchymal stem cel transplantation improves the severity of diabetic retinopathy by inhibiting expressions of CD45 and vascular endothelial growth factor in the retinal tissues.

Objective: To study the dosage application of herbs in class formulas of KaixinSan recorded in Prescriptions of the Bureau of Taiping People's Welfare Pharmacy (Taiping Huimin Hejiju Fang), Essential Recipes for Emergent Use Worth A Thousand Gold (Beiji Qianjin Yao Fang) and Records of Approved Cases of Ancient and Recent Times (Gujin Luyan) and their actions on depression. Method: According to the dosage proportion of different herbs in the three formulas in the three books, two methods were adopted in terms of decocting different herbs separately and mixing them thereafter(group of decocting separately) as well as extracting after decocted all the herbs together (group of decocting together). Classical anti-depression mice models--forced swimming and tail suspending experiments were observed. The data of immovability time of mice were analyzed by statistics. Result: All the class formulas of KaixinSan which have the same medication but different proportion in the three medical books can reduce the immovability time of mice in forced swimming and tail suspending experiments. But the action of KaixinSan recorded in Prescriptions of the Bureau of Taiping People's Welfare Pharmacy was prominent, and the action of the group of decocting together was superior to that of separated decocting. There was significant difference between the group of decocting together in low dosage and the controlled one (P

Objective To estimate the impact of cold wave on daily death of cerebra-cardiovascular diseases in Beijing by using case-crossover design. Methods The data of death counts was provided by Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention while the meteorological data was provided by Institute of Urban Meteorology,China Meteorological Administration (CMA),Beijing. The impact of six cold waves from Jan 1,1998 to Jun 30,2000 on daily death of cerebra-cardiovascular diseases were analyzed by using 1∶1 one-directional retrospective design and 1∶2 bi-directional symmetry control design. The cases were the people who dead during winter. Controls were the seventh day before or after the date of cases (or the fourteenth day). Results There were six cold waves in the investigation duration. The third cold wave in which minimum temperature declined obviously with decreasing humidity and increasing air pressure had significantly statistical significance in OR and the lag time of this cold wave was 0 day,the OR values were 1.500 (95%CI:1.032-2.181) for cardiovascular disease (CVD),respectively 1.913 (95%CI:1.066-3.432) for acute myocardial infarction,1.679 (95%CI:1.139-2.474) for cerebra-vascular disease(CBD) respectively. The other five cold waves do not have significant impact on cerebra-cardiovascular diseases. Conclusion Most cold waves studied in Beijing do not impact the daily death counts caused by cerebra-cardiovascular diseases. The cold wave with significant increased air pressure may increase the risk of death of cerebra-cardiovascular diseases without any lag time in Beijing.

Objective To investigate the histologic basis of imaging manifestations on adrenal myelolipoma and evaluate the value of various imaging modalities in diagnosing the tumor. Methods The imaging manifestations and pathological features of 21 cases of adrenal myelolipoma proved by postsurgical pathology were retrospectively analysed. Results Histologically, the myelolipoma presented hematopoietic elements amidst fatty tissue and showed indefinite border. The myeloid tissue was well vascularized and were adherent closely to normal adrenal gland. Both CT and MRI detected a single mass with irregular plaque or streak of bone marrow tissues between fatty components. The capsule of the tumor was not apparent, but rarely it presented an irregular local “capsule”which was composed of adrenal tissue with compression surrounding the tumor.Enhanced-scan found foggy enhancement in fatty tissue and enhancement of bone marrow tissue which made myeloid plaque enlarged and the edge misted.Ultrasonography demonstrated highly echogenic fat-containing ball of adrenal, while intravenous urography only showed translocation and renal axis alteration of homolateral kidney. Conclusion CT scan appears to be the most accurate qualitative modality to demonstrate adrenal myelolipoma while coronal and sagittal section scanning on MRI can make its localization more exact.Ultrasonography is also an important way in detecting the mass whereas intravenous urography and abdominal plain film should not be used to be the qualitative criterion.
