One hundred and sixty non-diabetic patients with cerebral ischemia of primary onset were enrolled in the study. The patients were divided into impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) group and normal glucose tolerance (NGT) group according to the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). Carotid atherosclerosis and carotid artery stenosis were examined with vascular Doppler ultrasonic detection. The incidence rates of carotid atherosclerosis in IGT group and NGT group were 87. 5% (70/80)and 63.8% (51/80)respectively (χ2= 12.240,P <0.001);the incidence rates of carotid stenosis in IGT group and NGT group were 63.8% (51/80) and 47. 5 % (38/80), respectively(χ2 =4. 279, P =0. 039);the degree of carotid artery stenosis in IGT group was higher than that in NGT group(χ2= 21.95, P < 0. 01). The results indicate that IGT may be related to atherosclerosis and stenosis of carotid artery in cerebral ischemic patients.

Objective To investigate the expression and role of β-catenin in small-for-size liver grafts during early stage of liver regeneration after liver transplantation in rats.Method The livers of male Sprague-Dawley rats were reduced to 30% or 50% of their original sizes and transplanted. The experiment was divided into 3 groups:small-for-size graft group (SSG),half-size graft group (HSG) and sham-operated group.Liver samples were harvested at various time points after transplantation (n =6 per time point) for Western blotting and immunohistochemistry.Six rats in each group were sacrificed at 3rd day after liver transplantation for estimating liver regeneration rate.Result Liver regeneration rate in SSG group was lower than that in HSG group. The expression of β-catenin was down-regulated in liver graft of both groups after being stored in cold Ringer solution for 2 h.The expression of β-catenin was significant up-regulated in HSG group from 5 min to 12 h after operation, while the down-regulated expression of β-catenin was persisted in SSG group at 5 min after operation, and mildly increased expression of β-catenin occurred at 2 h and 6 h,which was significantly lower than that in HSG group at the corresponding time points. The expression of active-β-catenin was low in each group before transplantation.Significant expression of active-β-catenin was found at 5 min in HSG group and persisted until 12 h after operation, mildly increased expression of active-β-catenin in SSG group was only found at 2 h,which was lower than that in HSG group at the same time points.Immunohistochemical staining revealed that β-catenin was mainly expressed on the hepatocyte membrane and in cytoplasm in the sham-operative group, many hepatocytes exhibited nuclear localization of β-catenin in HSG group from 5 min to 24 h,while only some hepatocytes exhibited nuclear localization of β-catenin in SSG group. The expression of Cyclin D1 in SSG group was significantly lower than that in HSG group, which was similar to the expression of C-Myc.Conclusion Attenuated activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling and down-regulated expression of target genes during early regeneration of small-for-size liver grafts may be involved in the inhibition of liver regeneration of small for size liver grafts.

Objective:To analyze the mental health status of men who have sex with men (MSM) population among acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients. Methods:A face-to-face questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the general information, symptom check list-90 (SCL-90) questionnaire and scale of 269 MSM patients with AIDS in the Eighth Hospital of Xi'an city from November 2015 to May 2016.Results:Among the 269 cases of MSM with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/AIDS, the majority were 20-40 years old, with higher education level, mostly unmarried and nonsingleton. The scores of each factor of SCL-90 were significantly higher than that of the norm, among which diet and sleep, interpersonal relationship, anxiety and depression were the most prominent; regression analysis showed that the main reason affecting the scores of each factor among AIDS patients was the low quality of life, and the patients with high education were more likely to have depression and anxiety. Conclusions:MSM has its own special characteristics among AIDS patients, and there are many psychological problems. Necessary psychological intervention measures should be given.

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of oral terbinafine versus itraconazole in the treatment of pediatric tinea capitis. Methods:From January 2021 to December 2021, a randomized clinical trial was conducted among 53 children with tinea capitis in Beijing Children′s Hospital. These patients were randomly divided into 2 groups by using a random number table: terbinafine group treated with oral terbinafine at different doses (weight <20 kg, dose: 62.5 mg/d; weight 20 - 40 kg, dose: 125 mg/d; weight >40 kg, dose: 250 mg/d), while itraconazole group treated with oral itraconazole at doses of 3 - 5 mg·kg -1·d -1. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 23.0 software, and enumeration data were compared between groups by using chi-square test or Fisher′s exact test. Results:Totally, 27 patients were treated with oral terbinafine, including 17 with tinea alba and 10 with kerion; 26 were treated with oral itraconazole, including 17 with tinea alba and 9 with kerion. After treatment, 14 (51.85%) patients were cured in the terbinafine group, including 5 with tinea alba and 9 with kerion, while 25 (96.15%) were cured in the itraconazole group, including 16 with tinea alba and 9 with kerion. The response rate was significantly higher in the itraconazole group than in the terbinafine group ( χ2 = 13.37, P < 0.001) . Conclusion:The efficacy of itraconazole was superior to that of terbinafine in the treatment of pediatric tinea alba, but their efficacy was equivalent in the treatment of pediatric kerion.

Objective:To analyze the metabolism of blood glucose and lipid in breast cancer patients after the first chemotherapy. Methods:Breast cancer patients who received chemotherapy for the first time from December 2016 to January 2020 were collected in our hospital, and their blood glucose and lipid levels were monitored. Patients were grouped according to different treatment plans. Non-parametric rank sum test was used for statistical analysis on SPSS software. Results:There were 1 356 female breast cancer patients were enrolled, blood glucose and lipid levels were compared before and after chemotherapy. Our results showed that baseline medium blood glucose was 5.2 mmol/L, lower than 5.3 mmol/L after chemotherapy ( P<0.05). The baseline triglyceride (TG) was 1.2 mmol/L, lower than 1.6 mmol/L after chemotherapy ( P<0.05). The baseline small dense low-density lipoprotein (sdLDL) was 0.7 mmol/L, lower than 0.8 mmol/L after chemotherapy ( P<0.05). The baseline high density lipoprotein (HDL) was 1.3 mmol/L, higher than 1.2 mmol/L after chemotherapy ( P<0.05). Patients′ menstrual status and body mass index were related with blood glucose, TG, LDL and sdLDL (all P< 0.05). Conclusions:Abnormal metabolism of blood glucose and lipid are observed in breast cancer patients after the first chemotherapy. More awareness of cardiovascular disease in breast cancer patients might ensure their overall clinical benefits.
