1.Role of Maternal PAPPA and PIGF Levels at Second Trimester in the Prediction of Preeclampsia

Objective To determine the PAPPA and PIGF levels in maternal serum at second trimester(15 to19 weeks)to e-valuate the role of these in the prediction of preeclampsia at last trimester.Methods Using premeasure postmeasure design, identified 204 singleton pregnancies within 15 to 19 weeks of gestation that followed 89 who had developed preeclampsia during 36 and 40 weeks,gestation at Weinan Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital at June 2013 and July 2015,115 with normotensive pregnant.PAPPA and PIGF concentration were determined.Results ①PAPPA and PIGF levels were significantly reduced in the preeclampsia groups compared to the normotensive pregnant group at second trimester (2.3μg/ml vs 4.6μg/ml,U=11.31,P=0.017;78 pg/ml vs 160 pg/ml,U=8.26,P=0.003).②PAPPA and PIGF levels were sig-nificantly reduced at last trimester compared to second trimester in the preeclampsia groups (1.6μg/ml vs 2.3μg/ml,U=9.41,P=0.011;56 pg/ml vs 78 pg/ml,U=6.77,P=0.023).③Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that at second trimester(at 15 to 19 weeks)a cutoff value of 2.2μg/ml for PAPPA and a cutoff value of 75pg/ml for PIGF were able to predict preeclampsia with specificity,sensitivity and area under the curve (AUC)61.7%,87.8%,AUC 0.86(95%CI,0.83~0.91)respectively.Conclusion Measuring PAPPA and PIGF in the second trimester(at 15 to 19 weeks)may be useful in the prediction of preeclampsia.
2.Association between early functional outcome and serum thyroid hormone level in elderly acute ischemic stroke patients

Objective To study the association between early functional outcome and serum thyroid hormone level in elderly acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients.Methods Two hundred and twenty-four AIS patients admitted to our hospital from May to December 2016 were divided into good functional outcome group (n=166) and poor functional outcome group (n=58) according to their mRS score.The serum levels of FT3,FT4,TSH were measured.The patients were further divided into FT3≤4.05 pmol/L,FT3 4.06-4.46 pmol/L,and FT3>4.46 pmol/L.The association between early functional outcome and serum levels of FT3,FT4,TSH in elderly AIS patients were analyzed by univariate and multivariate logistic analysis.Results The AIS was severer,the BMI and incidence of AF were higher,the number of WBC was greater,the serum FT3 and CRP levels were higher in poor functional outcome group than in good functional outcome group (P<0.05,P<0.01).The rate of poor functional outcome was significantly higher in FT3≤4.05 pmol/L than in FT3 4.06-4.46 pmol/L and FT3 >4.46 pmol/L (39.5% vs 22.2%,39.5% vs 15.8%,P=0.003).Univariate logistic regression analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that FT3 was an independent risk factor for early poor functional outcome in AIS patients.Concision The lower the serum FT3 level on admission is,the poorer the early functional outcome is in AIS patients.
3.Tissue distribution of exendin-4 in rats

AIM To investigate the tissue distribution of exendin-4 after administration in healthy rats. METHODS Exendin-4 was radioiodinated by the Iodo-GenTMmethod. Tissue distribution of [125I]exendin-4 was investigated after sc administration of [125I]exendin-4 at 3 μg·kg-1 in rats. Both total radioactivity and trichloroacetic acid (TCA) precipitated radioactivity were used to calculate the levels of [125I]exendin-4 in rats plasma and tissue samples after sc administration. RESULTS The tissue distribution of [125I]exendin-4 after sc injection showed substantial disposition in kidneys, lungs, bladder and pancreas. The rank order of normalized tissue distribution was kidneys>lungs>bladder>pancreas>intestine>plasma>adrenals>jejunum>lymph>liver>spleen>heart>marrow>thymus>testicles>brain>muscle>adipose. CONCLUSION [125I]Exendin-4 underwent a rapid and wide distribution in the tissues throughout the whole body within the time course examined. TCA precipitated radioactivity in kidneys was the highest, however, only trace amounts of [125I]exendin-4 was detected in the brain.
4.Value of Red Cell Distribution Width in the Prognosis of Patients with Multiple Myeloma

Objective To investigate the relationship between red blood cell distribution width (RDW) and prognosis in patients with multiple myeloma (MM).Methods The population that studied consisted of 27 patients with multiple myeloma and 30 healthy controls.The RDW was calculated according to the results of blood routine examination and compared between patients and healthy controls.Then,compared the difference between the two groups of RDW.MM patients were treated with international standard staging (ISS),and the differences of RDW in different stages were analyzed.ISS staging was used to draw the receiver operating curve (receiver operating characteristic curve,ROC curve),then take RDW14.65 % as the best cut-off point,the MM patients were divided into low RDW group (RDW=14.65 %) and high RDW group (RDW >14.65%).Overall survival (OS) condition were compared between the above two groups.The impacts of RDW on OS were analyzed by Kaplan-Meier and Log-rank test.Results The average RDW value in experimental and controlled were 15.60 % ± 2.35 % vs 12.72 % ±0.61 % separately (t=6.201,P<0.001),with statistical differences.The average RDW value in low ISS(Ⅰ + Ⅱ stage) and high ISS (Ⅲ stage) were 13.99 % ± 1.08% vs 16.55 %±2.39% separately (t=3.800,P=0.001).The median survival time of low RDW and high RDW group was 13 months and 8 months respectively,and the difference was statistically significant (x2=6.481,P =0.011).Conclusion RDW increased in patients with MM,the risk stratification higher prognosis is worse.
