Chinese Journal of Marine Drugs 1994;0(01):-
The chemical constituents of the gorgonian Isis minorbrachlasta have been studied for the first time. Th?marine specimen was collected off the Nansha Islands in the South China Sea . On the basis of spectral correlation (1H NMR,13C NMR,IR)four known compounds:gorgosterol,22 - epi-hippuristanol, ceramide and batyl alcohol, were indentified.

Objective To investigate the relationship between alexithymia and event-related potential P300 in patients with somatoform disorders. Methods Forty-two patients aged 18 to 65 years fulfilling ICD-10 diagnosis criteria for somatoform disorders were recruited as experiment group.Forty normal healthy persons were selected as control group. The Toronto alexthymia scale-20 (TAS-20) was employed to investigate the alexithymia of the subjects.P300 potentials was employed to investigate the cognitive ability of the subjects.A comparison was made between the patients and the healthy subjects. Results The latencies of N1,P2,N2 and P3 were significantly longer in patients with somatoform disorder than those in the normal controls (P < 0.05 or 0.01),the amplitudes of N2 and P3 were significantly lower in the patients (P < 0.05 or 0.01).The three factors scores and the total score of TAS-20 test in patients with somatoform disorder were significantly lower than those in the normal controls (P < 0.05 or 0.01).There was significant correlation between the latency and the three factors scores and the total score of TAS-20 as well as between the amplitude of P300 and the three factors scores and the total score of TAS-20:the latencies of N1,P2,N2 and P3 recorded at Pz was positively correlated with the factors scores (r =0.32 ~ 0.48,P < 0.05 or 0.01),and the amplitudes of N1,P2,N2 and P3 recorded at Pz was negatively correlated with theTAS-20 scores (r=-0.31 ~-0.51,P<0.05 or0.01).Conclusions There existed significant correlation between the alexithymia and cognitive impairment in patients with somatoform disorders. Both alexithymia and event-related potential P300 can be used as a clinical evaluation index for patients with somatoform disorder.

Aim To investigate the effects of T-and L-type calcium channel blockers on isolated thoracic aorta from thyroxine-induced hypertensive rats. Methods Hyperthyroidism was induced by administering L-thyroxine (T4,0.5 mg·kg~(-1),sc) daily for 16 days.Sham-treated euthyroid control rats were only received vehicle saline for 16 days. Experiments were performed in isolated thoracic aorta rings from euthyroid and hyperthyroid rats. Mibefradil and diltiazem were used to inhibit T-and L-type calcium channels, respectively. Results Thyroid hormone excess for 16 days induced characteristic changes in body weight, heart rate and systolic blood pressure in rats. The body weight was significantly decreased, heart rate and systolic blood pressure were increased in T4-treated rats. Thoracic aorta morphology was altered in T4-treated rats. The thickness of adventitia was increased with hypertrophy and hyperplasia of the smooth musle cells in T4-treated rats. Vasorelaxant effect of T-and L-type calcium channel blockers were accentuated in aortic rings from T4-treated rats. Conclusion These data suggest that T-and L-type calcium channels are functionally upregulated in isolated thoracic aorta from hyperthyroid rats and they, may be a therapeutic target in thyroxine-induced hypertension.

Two compositions, a sterol mixture and a pure ceramide, were isolated from the extract of a tunicate,Styela.canopus, collected from the Dayawan Bay, Guangdong. The sterols were detected by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, and their structure was confimed by spectroscopic analysis. The ceramide was identified by spectroscopic analysis. The contents of sterols and the ceramide in the extract were 12% and 0.3% respectively. This was also the first report about the chemical constituents of Sytela. canopus.

The compounds (8R23, 9R221 , 9R6222, 10R221 , H1105) extracted from the soft coral, with unsaturated lactone, showed antitumor effect on EAT, IC50 was 18. 6,85. 8,67. 8,3d. 9, 3.05umol. L-1, respectively; IC50 on S180 was 10. 7,44. 4,30. 9,9. 95,2. 4umol. L-1, respectively. 8R23, 10R221 obviously increased the level of cAMP in the EAT cell. 8R23, 10R221 , III 105 also inhibited DNA synthesis of the EAT cell. These results indicated that these compounds might have antitumor effect, but the mechanism was unknown.

Objective To explore the association between family function and self-esteem in college students. Methods Totally 2560 college students were sampled. They were assessed with the self-compiled questionnaire on family information,Rosenberg' s self-esteem scale (SES) and family assessment device (FAD).Results The students from only-child family (30.32±4.19) scored higher on SES than students with siblings (29.54±3.97).The students with experience of grandparents raising (29.84±4.19) scored lower on SES than students raised by parents (30.29±4.13).Students from harmonious family and with monthly incoming above 10000 Yuan scored higher on SES than other groups. All the differences were statistically significant (P<0.01,P<0.05).There was significant correlation between SES and all of the dimensions of FAD (r=-0.260-0.379,P=0.000).Multiple regression showed that such dimensions of FAD as role, communication, behavior control, problem solving and general functioning,as well as social economic status of the family played important role on self-esteem of the students(β=0.039-0.169,P<0.01 orP<0.05).Conclusion Family factors have significant impact on self-esteem of the college students, especially family role and communication which are important positive predictors on self-esteem of college students.
