Objective To assess the association of serum resistin,TNF-? and insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods 42 cases of T2DM and 40 cases of control were involved in the study.Their waist circumference(WC),the levels of fasting serum resistin,TNF-?,fasting blood glucose(FBG) and fasting insulin(FINS)were measured. Results The levels of serum resistin,TNF-? and Homa-IR in T2DM group were significantly higher than those in control group, while serum FINS level was significantly lower than that in control group[(11.76?2.72)vs(8.65?3.00)?g/L,P

A total of 123 type 2 diabetics was randomised into 3 groups to receive gliclazide-MR, gliclazide or glibenclamide treatments for 16 weeks. All the subjects took self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) during the trial. The effect of therapy was similar in 3 groups. The subtraction value between maximum and minimum blood glucose, mean postprandial maximum blood glucose, postprandial 2 h blood glucose, postprandial 2 h serum insulin and hypoglycaemia events were lower in gliclazide-MR group than those in glibenclamide group (all P<0.01).The data suggest that SMBG is an useful method to evaluate blood glucose excursion.

The carotid initima-media thickness(CIMT)in 78 cases of type 2 diabetic patients was measured. The level of plasma endogenous secretion receptor for advanced glycation end-products(esRAGE)in patients with normal CIMT was higher than those with chickened CIMT[(0.257 3±0.165 6 vs 0.155 4±0.0701)μg/L,P<0.01].esRAGE was negatively associated with CIMT(r=-0.247,P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that CIMT was negatively associated with esRAGE and hish density lipoprotein cholesterol, but was positively associated with age.

Objective:To investigate the effect of iodine nutrition status and sorts of indexes on homocysteine (HCY) in the second trimester of pregnancy under conditions with normal thyroid function.Methods:481 second-trimester pregnant (13th to 27th week of pregnancy) women with normal thyroid function were selected for the study. Urinary iodine concentration (UIC), thyroid auto-antibody, HCY and biochemical indexes were measured. The HCY levels were compared among subjects with different iodine nutritional status, and factors related to HCY level were analyzed. Results:Patients were stratified into iodine deficiency, iodine adequate, iodine more than adequate and iodine excess groups and the proportion were 57.0% ( n=274), 29.7% ( n=143), 10.8% ( n=52) and 2.5% ( n=12), respectively. The overall median UIC was 134.1 μg/L. There was significant difference in HCY levels between iodine excess group and iodine adequate group(1.83 μmol/L vs. 2.46 μmol/L, P=0.036). Spearman correlation analysis showed that HCY was negatively correlated with iodine excess, free triiodothyronine (FT3), thyroglobulin antibody, and fasting blood glucose( r=-0.101, P=0.026; r=-0.099, P=0.03; r=-0.192, P<0.01; r=-0.099, P=0.03), and was positively correlated with TPOAb ( r=0.177, P<0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that HCY was independently negatively correlated with iodine excess (β=-1.505, P=0.043) and FT3 (β=-0.661, P=0.008). Conclusion:Up to 57% women in the second trimester of pregnancy are with iodine deficiency and normal thyroid function. Moderate iodine excess and elevated FT3 levels are beneficial to the decrease of HCY levels and thus reduce the risk of vascular complications in pregnant women.

Objective:
To investigate the expression and distribution of FNDC5/Irisin in pancreatic cancer tissues and adjacent tissues, and to analyze its correlation with clinicopathological features.
Methods:
Collection of archived wax blocks from 64 patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after surgical treatment from January 2015 to December 2018 in the Department of Pathology, Affiliated Qingdao Municipal Hospital of Qingdao University, and 30 tissues collected intraoperatively from January 2016 to December 2018 Samples, all collected samples included tumor tissue and corresponding adjacent tissues (>2 cm from the tumor edge). Real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry were used to detect the expression of FNDC5/Irisin mRNA and its positivity in pancreatic cancer tissues and adjacent tissues, and to analyze its relationship with clinicopathological features of pancreatic cancer.
Results:
qRT-PCR showed that the expression of FNDC5/Irisin mRNA in pancreatic cancer tissues was higher than that in the corresponding adjacent pancreatic tissues, the difference was statistically significant (
