Objective:To explore the relationship between the expression of EGFR and STAT3 in human la-ryngeal papilloma and its biological behavior. Method: Reverse transcription polymerasechain reaction(RT-PCR), immunohistochemical staining and Western blot were used to evaluate the mRNA and protein expression of EGFR and STAT3(p-STAT3) in 42 laryngeal papilloma tissues and 15 samples of normal laryngeal tissue, and the rela-tionship between the protein expression of them and clinicpathological parameters was also analysized. Result: The mRNA expression levels of EGFR and STAT3 in laryngeal papilloma tissue were significantly higher than that in normal laryngeal tissue(P<0.05,P<0.01). Protein positive expression of EGFR and p-STAT3 were also detected in a significantly greater proportion of laryngeal papilloma than normal laryngeal tissue by immunohistochemistry and western blot(P<0.01,P<0.05). There was relationship between EGFR and p-STAT3 overexpression in la-ryngeal papilloma(P<0.05). The expression p-STAT3 was correlated with the recurrence and canceration of la-ryngeal papilloma(P<0.05). Conclusion: The EGFR-STAT3 signal transduction pathway may be involved in the pathogenesis of laryngeal papilloma,, and the persistent activation of STAT3 gene plays an important role in the recurrence and canceration of laryngeal papilloma.

Objective To observe the changes in electrophysiology and ultramicrostructureafter noise exposure in cochlea of guinea pigs. Methods Thirty animals were divided into 4 groups:group 1 was normal animals,while group 2,3 and 4 were animals of 0.5 hours,7 days and 3 weeks after exposed to noise of 120 dB SPL for 2 hours, respectively.The ABR and 40 Hz-AERP were measured before and after exposure. The hair cells were observed by scanning electron microscope.Results The amplitudes of ABR and 40 Hz-AERP disappeared right after noise exposure, however,they returned to normal 7 days and 3 weeks later . The scanning electron microscopy showed the stereocilia of the hair cells were disarranged and some disappeared at the second and fourth circle of the cochlea . The changes of the pathology at the fourth circle were more serious than that of the second circle. Conclusion The stereocilia of the hair cells had recovered after noise exposure.

Objective To examine whether hair cell immunophenotypes could be derived from the central nervous system (CNS). Methods We established cell cultures from embryonic day 14.5 fetal mouse brain tissues, and analyzed changes in immunohistochemical features of the CNS cell cultures by induction of differentiation.with FGF-2 and EGF.Results The results of this study showed that neural progenitors obtained from fetal rat CNS generated hair cell immunophenotypes with expression of epitopes of hair cell marker proteins myosin VIIa in vitro.Conclusion These findings indicate that immature neural progenitors possess the potential to differentiate into hair cell phenotypes. Immature neural progenitors may be useful as materials for cell transplantation therapy for replacement of damaged inner ear hair cells. Objective To observe the RASSF1A expression in laryngeal keratosis and laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and investigate the relationship between the gene and the occurrence and development of this disease. Methods The specimens of keratosis of larynx(43 cases)and laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma(31 cases)in Oto-laryngology-Head and Neck surgery of Anhui provincial hospital from Dec 2009 to Dec 2012 were collected.Nor-mal vocal fold mucosa from the cadaveric head as control group(8 cases)were collected.Immunohistochemical meth-ods were used to detect the expression of RASSF1A protein in these tissues.The diffuse distribution of brown gran-ules in the cell cytoplasm yielded positive results and the nucleus was not coloring.The percentage of positive cells of every section,and the average standard deviation(￣x±s)were calculated.SPSS17.0 statistical analysis software was used to analyze the data,P<0.05 for the difference was statistically significant.ResuIts The RASSF1A expes-sion in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma,normal laryngeal mucosa,squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx and la-ryngeal keratosis were compared.The differences of RASSF1A expression were statistically significant (P<0.05). The difference of RASSF1A expression in keratosis of larynx and normal laryngeal mucosa was not significant (P>0.05).RASSF1A expression in the clinical stage from I to IV of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma gradually de-clined.During the clinical stage,the difference had statistics significance (P<0.05 ).In high differentiated squa-mous cell carcinoma,moderately differentiated squamous and poorly differentiated squamous,the differences of RASSF1A expression were insignificant (P>0.05).ConcIusion The reduction of RASSF1A expression correlated with laryn-geal squamous cell carcinoma,which has certain significance for the different ion of carcinoma and laryngeal precan-cerous lesion.

Objective The aim of this study is to explore the significance of fitting hearing aids before cochle_ar implantation by studying the postoperative impact on neural response telemetry (NRT ) threshold ,the subjective threshold(T -level) and maximal comfort level(C-level) values .Methods A total of 45 patients with cochlear im_plants were divided into 3 groups:patients in group HA1(n=17)had worn hearing aids preoperatively more than 6 months and the age of starting wearing hearing aids was yonger than 3 .5 years old ,patients in group HA2(n=8) had worn hearing aids preoperatively more than 6 months and the starting age was older than 3 .5 years old ,patients in group NHA(n=20 )never wore hearing aids before ACI .The postoperative electrode impedance ,NRT value and T -level and C -level were evaluated at 3rd ,6th ,and 12th months ,respectively .ResuIts Electrode impedances were 10 .9 ± 2 .1 kΩ in NHA group ,10 .5 ± 2 .3 kΩ in HA1 group ,10 .7 ± 2 .7 kΩ in HA2 group ,respectively ,and there were no statistically significant differences .Significant differences were found between group HA1 and group NHA ,group HA1 and group HA2 in terms of NRT threshold value ,T -level or C-level(P<0 .05) .There were no statistically significant differences between group HA2 and group NHA with respect to NRT threshold values ,T-level as well as C-level(P>0 .05) .ConcIusion The results of this study showed that wearing hearing aids for a longer time before CI was beneficial for hearing rehabilitation postoperatively .

We retrospectively analyzed 218 allergen skin prick tests ( SPT ) of the patients with chronic sinusitis with or without nasal polyps( CRSwNP/CRSsNP) before the operation. The proportions of positive SPT in CRSwNP and CRSsNP were compared respectively. The distributions of allergens were the same in all groups. The positive rate of SPT in CRSwNP was higher than that in CRSsNP, with statistical significance(P<0. 05). The positive rate of SPT in CRSsNP was higher than that of the control group, without statistical significance. The recurrence rate in CRSwNP was higher than that in CRSsNP, with statistical significance. The recurrence rate in the allergen-positive patients was higher than the allergen-negative patients, with statistical significance.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the bacteria distribution, drug bacterial sensitivity characteristics of the rural chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). And to explore the effect of antibiotic on pathogenic bacteria culture. METHOD: Choose nasal sinus secretions from 115 CRS patients living in rural areas. Aerobic bacteria culture, anaerobic bacteria culture and drug sensitive test were procedured for each sample. At the same time the use of antibiotics nearly 2 months and nearly 2 weeks were collected. RESULT: Among one hundred and fifteen specimens, 17 kinds of germs were detected in 37 cases, the positive rate of aerobic bacteria was 32.17%. Staphylococcus aureus and epidermis staphylococcus aureus the most common type of aerobe in CRS patients at rural areas. There was negative result in the anaerobic bacteria culture of 17 maxillary sinus specimen. The cases of using antibiotics nearly 2 months was up to 90, accounting for 78.26%. Nearly 2 weeks, 73 cases, accounting for 63.48%. The chi-square analysis showed high bacterial culture rate, in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP group), which revealed correlation between bacterial infection factors and nasal polyps formation. For CRS patients with positive result of bacterial culture, they were sensitive to ofloxacin, cefotaxime, organism, ciprofloxacin, magnitude cephalosporin, and were drug fast to penicillin G, ampicillin, erythromycin. CONCLUSION No specific differences was found in the bacteria distribution of rural CRS. antibiotics abusage in rural CRS patients and the anaerobic bacteria culture techniques is the main factor resulting in low culture rate. Rational use of antimicrobial agents should be established on the basis of the bacterial culture and drug sensitive test.

Objective To study the indications ,surgical techniques of cochlear implantation in bilateral severe sensorineural hearing loss patients with otitis media with effusion .Methods Retrospective study of the data was col-lected from 30 bilateeral severe sensorineural hearing loss patients receiving cochlear implantation .CI was performed with round window insertion in 30 patients with otitis media with effusion .Results One stage operations of CI with round window insertion were carried out for 30 patients with otitis media with effusion .All electrodes were implan-ted successfully ,in which the CI went normally and electrode array were protected well .All implant devices had worked normally and all patients had performed well during an average of 1~3 years follow -up .Conclusion Bilat-eral severe sensorineural hearing loss patients with otitis media with effusion could be performed cochlear implanta-tion with round window insertion in one stage ,and it was safe and effective .

Objective To assessment the effect of autologous mastoid cortical bone to cover the mastoidetomy defect via transmastoid and posterior tympanotomy approach surgical technique during cochlear implantation in a ‐dults .Methods A total of 58 adults patients with profound sensorineural hearing loss accepted cochlear implantation from January 2010 and June 2014 ,which were using autologous mastoid cortical bone to cover the mastoidetomy de‐fect via transmastoid and posterior tympanotomy approach surgical technique .By observing postoperation complica‐tion the effect of surgery was evaluated .ABR were obtained for each patients at first ,third and sixth month after op‐eration .The patients which were not using autologous mastoid cortical bone to cover the mastoidetomy defect via transmastoid and posterior tympanotomy proach surgical technique acted as control group .Results No depression was found in the postauricuhtr site .None of the patients had experienced any immediate or delayed postoperative in ‐fection complication such as wound infection ,post - auricular abscess ,acute otitis media ,chronic otitis media ,in‐tracranial complication and necrotic of cortical bone .Autologous cortical bone cap had grew together with remnant cortical bone in all cochlear implantation patients .All implanted processor were in a good position ,all patients had good results after turning on the implant .The ABR thresholds were elevated about 70 dB compare to pre - operation values(P< 0 .05) .There was no significant difference compare to control group (P> 0 .05) .Conclusion The tech‐nique of autologous mastoid cortical bone to cover the mastoidetomy defect in cochlear implantation surgery can pre ‐vent depression of the postauricuhtr site ,remain stability of the implanted processor ,and have a good aided hearing thresholds after operation .

Objective The goal of the present experimental study is to investigate effects on the injection of a-dult rabbit autologous skeletal myoblasts into the thyroarytenoid(TA)muscle after recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) damage and traumatic vocal cords .Methods 20 adult New Zealand white rabbits were used for the establishment of an animal model simulating the cut -off of the left recurrent laryngeal nerve and the left vocal cord trauma scar for-mation after traumatic damage .Then from the rabbits ,the sternocleidomastoid muscle cells were cultured ,separa-ted and expanded .After 12 weeks ,the 20 animals were randomly divided into group A ,group B with 10 in each group .Group A(myoblast injection group) in the left vocal cord thyroarytenoid muscle injection of myoblasts 0 .3 ml ,the right vocal cord without any treatment served as normal controls ;Group B(saline injection control group) in the left vocal cord thyroarytenoid muscle was injected with normal saline ,the right vocal cord without any treatment as normal controls ,respectively ,were observed after 12 weeks of bilateral thyroarytenoid muscle fiber diameters and vocal cord volumes .Results After 12 weeks ,Group A's left thyroarytenoid muscle injection of bilateral thyroaryten-oid muscle fiber diameter and the vocal volume size was not significantly different (P>0 .05) ,thyroarytenoid muscle fiber diameter and the vocal cord volume on Group B's injected side was significantly smaller than Group A (P<0 .05) .Conclusion The thyroarytenoid muscle injection of autologous myoblasts can effectively treat recurrent la-ryngeal nerve (RLN) injury and traumatic vocal cords .
