Fuwai Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences constructed three research plat-forms by integration of resources in 2004 which included central laboratory, pathophysioiogy center and ani-mal center. It mainly aimed to provide the use of equipment, technical training, guidance and experimental animals, etc. For hospital researchers and graduate students in this paper, we reviewed the three research platforms and analyzed the positive effect of research platforms on personnel training and promoting the re-search and development of the hospital.

Objective To analyze the clinical presentation and the effects on both mothers and fetuses with HELLP syndrome induced hyregtensive disorder complicating pregrancy and to investigate the effective methods for diagnosis and treatment. Methods 15 cases of HELLP syndroms were retrospectively analyzed on material and perinatal outcomes. Results In 15case of women with HELLP syndrome, all of them presented antepartum HELLP. Mean gestational age at delivery was 34 weeks. Severe maternal complications included placental abruption,DIC ,postpartum hemorrhage, fetal distress, et al. All of them underwent cesaresn section and required transfusions with blood or blood products. 1 case of perinatal death was related to placental abruption. Conclusion HELLP syndrome is a severe obstetric complication. Better prognosis may be achiveved by early diagnosis, synthetic therapy and optimal termination of pregnancy.

OBJECTIVE:To analyze the resistance of the main pathogens in our hospital to antimicrobials for clinical reference of rational use of antimicrobial agents. METHODS:The antibiotic resistance of the clinical pathogens in our hospital in 2008 was retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS:Of the total 938 clinical pathogenic bacteria isolated in our hospital, the most common pathogens(leading the first 10 places)were E. coli, staphylococcus aureus, enterobacter spp, staphylococcus epidermidis, pseudomonas aeruginosa,Klebsiella, acinetobacter, enterococcus, hemolytic streptococcus and bacillus proteus. CONCLUSION:Clinicians should use antimicrobial agents rationally to reduce the antibiotic resistance.

BACKGROUND:Currently, there are few reports on the effect of nickel-chromium (Ni-Cr) al oy porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) restoration on subgingival flora of abutment.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of the Ni-Cr al oy PFM restoration on subgingival flora ratio of abutment.
METHODS:Nine patients (12 teeth) who suspected that Ni-Cr al oy PFM could affect their health and therefore came to hospital to ask for removal of the prosthesis were selected in this study. Their subgingival plaques of abutment were obtained before and 1 month, 3 months after the Ni-Cr al oy PFM restorations were removed, respectively, and the changes of subgingival flora were observed and analyzed by the method of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The images of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis in subgingival bacteria of experimental group had significant changes at 1 and 3 months after Ni-Cr al oy PFM restorations removed, furthermore, there were significant differences in the images of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis at 1 and 3 months. In addition, the specific bands were selected from denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis image that appeared before Ni-Cr al oy PFM restorations removed and weakened or disappeared after the removal of restorations, then 16S rDNA sequence in the specific bands were analyzed. The results showed that the gene sequences of these bands were closest related to Eikenel a corrodens, Campylobacter rectus and Eubacterium saphenu. These findings indicated that the Ni-Cr al oy PFM restorations would result in the changes of the proportion of subgingival microflora and increases in the detection rates of some periodontal pathogens.

Objective To investigate the effect and mechanism of boron neutron capture therapy(BNCT) in C6 glioma cell line. Methods C6 cells in exponential phase were divided into 6 groups: untreated control,(~(60)Co?)(4 Gy),~(60)Co? 8 Gy,nuclear reactor exposure without boronophenylalanine(BPA) 3 Gy,BNCT(4 Gy) and BNCT 8 Gy.Cellular morphological change was observed by an inverted microscope, light microscope, fluorescence microscope and electronic microscope.Flow cytometry was used to determine the percentage of apoptosis, necrosis and normal cells 48h after irradiation.Colony forming assay was used to calculate cell surviving fraction. Results Typical morphological changes of apoptosis were observed early after irradiation in BNCT group, with a significant increase in apoptotic rates was observed 48 h after irradiation with 63.2% and 88.3% for BNCT(4 Gy) and 8 Gy group, respectively(P
