Journal of International Oncology 2013;(4):255-259
Studies show that heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) can promote the tumor neovascularization via interacting with angiogenic factors, such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and stromal cell-derived factor-1.On the other hand,HO-1 may suppress angiogenesis in tumors via inhibiting the transcription of NF-кB.In a word,HO-1 may participate in the pathophysiological process of tumor angiogenesis, and may be a new target for cancer treatment.

OBJECTIVETo summarize and analyze the cone-beam CT (CBCT) imaging features of ameloblastomas for clinical preoperative diagnosis.
METHODSThirty-seven cases with complete data proven by pathology were retrospectively studied for distinct CBCT features.
RESULTSOf the 37 cases, 31 were primary and 6 were recurrent. On CBCT images, the 37 cases were composed of 36 cases (97.3%) of intraosseous lesions (17 cases of multilocular lesions, 17 cases of unilocular lesions, and 2 cases of honeycomb lesion) and 1 case (2.7%) of extraosseous lesion (soft tissue lesion). Of the 17 multilocular cases, 15 (88.2%) showed tongue-shaped crests in lesions. Thirty-four cases (94.4%) showed apparent expansible change toward lip/buccal and (or) palatal/lingual sides ofjaw, with partialcortical erosion.
CONCLUSIONCBCT imaging yields accurate three-dimensional images of lesion shape and structure. Therefore, CBCT can be usedfor the clinical diagnosis and surgical assessment of ameloblastoma.

Objective To evaluate the role of μ-opioid receptor (MOR) in attenuation of bone cancer pain by anti-nerve growth factor (anti-NGF) in rats. Methods Part Ⅰ Sixty female SD rats weighing 200-220 g were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 15 each): sham operation group (group S), sham operation + anti-NGF group (group SN), bone cancer pain group (group P) and bone cancer pain+ anti-NGF group (group PN) . Bonecancer was induced by intra-tibial inoculation of 1 × 105 Walker 256 breast cancer cells in group P and PN. Group S and SN received injection of PBS 10 μl. APE 10 catheter was inserted at L2,3 interspace into the epidural space 13 days after cancer cell inoculation. Three days after the catheter was successfully placed, group SN and PN received intrachecal (IT) injection of anti-NGF 10 μg (in normal saline (NS) 10 μl) and group S and P IT injection of NS 10 μl twice a day for 5 consecutive days. The number of spontaneous flinches (NSF), paw withdrawal latency (PWL) and paw withdrawal threshold (PWT) were measured before and 13, 16, 18, 21 day after cancer cell inoculation. The animals were sacrificed at 21 day after cancer cell inoculation and the spinal cord dorsal horn and dorsal root ganglion were removed for determination of MOR and MOR mRNA expression. Part Ⅱ Thirty female SD rats weighing 200-220 g were randomly divided into 2 groups (n = 15 each): bone cancer pain + anti-NGF group (group PN) and bone cancer pain + naloxone + anti-NGF group (group PNN). Bone cancer was induced by intratibial inoculation of 1 × 105 Walker 256 breast cancer cells. APE 10 catheter was inserted at L2-3 interspace into the epidural space 13 days after cancer cell inoculation. Three days after the catheter was successfully placed, group PN received IT injection of anti-NGF 10 μg (in NS 10 μl) and group PNN IT injection of naloxone 10μg (in NS 25 μl) and 0.5 h later IT injection of anti-NGF 10 μg (in NS 25μl) twice a day for 5 consecutive days. NSF,PWL and PWT were measured before and 13, 16, 18, 21 days after cancer cell inoculation. Results Part ⅠCompared with group S, no significant change was found in NSF, PWL and PWT in group SN, and in MOR and MOR mRNA expression in group SN and PN (P > 0.05), NSF was significantly increased, PWL shortened, PWT decreased at 13-21 days after inoculation in group P and PN, and MOR and MOR mRNA expression was down-regulated in group P (P < 0.05 or 0.01). Compared with group P, NSF was significantly decreased, PWL prolonged, PWT increased, MOR and MOR mRNA expression was up-regulated in group PN at 18-21 days after inoculation (P < 0.05 or 0.01). Part Ⅱ Compared with group PN, NSF was significantly increased, PWL shortened, PWT decreased at 18-21 days after inoculation in group PNN (P < 0.05 or 0. 01). Conclusion The mechanism by which anti-NGF attenuates bone cancer pain in rats is related to the activation of MOR.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2015;29(18):1591-1597
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the relationship between passing rate of otoacoustic emission (OAE) and pure tone thresholds.
METHOD:
OAE including both transient evoked otoacoustic emission (TEOAE) and distortion products otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) as well as pure tone thresholds were measured in subjects with normal hearing and sensory hearing loss. The passing rates of OAE were calculated in subjects with different age groups and different pure tone thresholds.
RESULT:
TEOAE can identify hearing loss at frequencies of 2 kHz and below. For TEOAE and 2 kHz DPOAE, passing rate has no difference between different age groups. For 4 kHz DPOAE, the passing rate in age over 50 years group is lower than other groups. The passing rate decreased as the pure tone threshold increased. When TEOAE and DPOAE suggest " pass", 70%, 81%, 79% subjects had pure tone threshold lower than 25 dB HL and 94%, 96%, 93% lower than 40 dB HL respectively. When they suggest "refer", 93%, 84%, 87% subjects had pure tone threshold higher than 25 dB HL and 71%, 58%, 68% higher than 40 dB HL respectively.
CONCLUSION
TEOAE is sensitive to hearing loss at middle and low frequencies but not at high frequencies. Measuring both TEOAE and DPOAE might provide more information of hearing loss at 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0 kHz. It is worth noting that even OAE suggest "pass" or "refer", because there is still exist the possibility of hearing loss.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect and cost of Multidimensional iron oral liquid and Polysaccharide iron com-plex capsules in the treatment of iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy. METHODS:By retrospective study,80 cases of iron de-ficiency anemia during pregnancy were divided into control group and trial group in accordance to different therapy plans, with 40 cases in each group. Control group was given Multidimensional iron oral liquid orally,10 ml each time, bid, after breakfast and supper, for consecutive 4 weeks;trial group was given Polysaccharide iron complex capsules orally,0.30 g each time,qd,for con-secutive 4 weeks. Clinical efficacy, erythrocyte related lab indexes, satisfactory rate and ADR were compared between 2 groups, and cost-effectiveness analysis was adopted for economic evaluation. RESULTS:The total effective rate of experimental group was 95.0%,which was higher than 85.0% of control group, but without statistical significance(P>0.05);hemoglobin level,erythro-cyte count and average volume of erythrocyte of trial group were significantly higher or more than control group, and satisfactory rate(95.0% vs. 65.0%)were significantly higher than control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05);no obvious ADR was found in 2 groups. Total cost of trial group and control group were 243.60 and 166.32 yuan, and cost-effective ratio was 2.56 and 1.96;incremental cost-effective ratio was 7.73. Results of sensitivity analysis were same to the result. CONCLUSIONS:Both Multi-dimensional iron oral liquid and Polysaccharide iron complex capsules can improve anemia in patients with iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy. Polysaccharide iron complex capsules show better therapeutic efficacy and satisfactory rate, but it is relatively ex-pensive. Drugs should be selected according to economic situation.
