Objective To evaluate the efficacy of lower pole incision pyelocalycolithotomy for the removal of complex stag-horn renal calculi. Methods The clinical data of 13 patients with complex stag-horn renal calculi underwent lower pole incision pyelocalycolithotomy were retrospectively analyzed. Results The renal pedicel blood flow did not be interrupted during operation. The mean operative time was 140 minutes, and the mean amount of blood loss during operation was 220ml. The size of the biggest removed stone was 7 2cm?4 1cm?3 5cm, and in one case the number of the removed stones amounted to 35 pieces. KUB plus IVP examination did not reveal the residual renal stone in all cases one month after operation. Conclusion The lower pole incision pyelocalycodithotomy have the advantages of simplicity, less bleeding, complete removal of calculus and preservation of renal function. It is one of effective operative procedures to treat big stag-horn renal calculi.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of free-radical scavenger in the treatment of chronic prostatitis (CP). Methods 117 patients with CP were randomly divided into 4 groups: group A (32 patients) were treated with free-radical scavenger, group B (32 patients) with antibiotics, group C (32 patients) with ?-blocker and group D with placebo. Microscopic examination, bacterial culture,SOD and MDA examination were conducted just before and after the procedure. Results No cure was observed in each group.18 patients were improved in group A,15 in group B,21 in group C and 2 in group D. The efficacy rate was 47.3%,46.8%,65.6% and 13.3% respectively. Compared to the placebo group, the free-radical scavenger had a significant therapeutic efficacy and had no significant difference to the antibiotic group and ?-blocker group. Conclusions The free-radical scavenger may be a useful method for the treatment of chronic prostatitis.

Prostate cancer with refractory hyponatremia is rare. A patient was admitted with urinary retention, who developed weakness, apathy, and altered mental status during hospitalization, and was diagnosed with severe hyponatremia. After multidisciplinary consultations with departments such as endocrinology and neurology, the patient was diagnosed with syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH). The patient received serum PSA test and prostate MRI examination, and was diagnosed with prostate cancer by prostate biopsy. Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy was successfully performed. Results: The patients took tolvaptan orally before operation to maintain normal serum sodium. One month after radical prostatectomy, the symptoms of fatigue and anorexia disappeared, and serum sodium returned to normal without tolvaptan taking and sodium supplementation. No tumor recurrence or hyponatremia relapse observed during the 6-month follow-up.
