Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a natural polymer that has bioactivity, biodegradability and biocompatibility. It displays unique physical, chemical and mechanical properties including high crystallinity, high water holding capacity, nanofibre-network structure, high tensile strength and elastic modulus. Due to its unusual material properties, BC has recently become a kind of attractive biomedical material in the international research.Describes BC's properties, study history and its applications as biomedical materials, especially gives emphasis to introduce the applications of BC on scaffold tissue engineering, artificial blood vessels, artificial skin and the treatment of skin wound, as well as the present study status.

Objective To explore the molecular mechanism of hypophrenia induced by Down syndrome (DS).Methods Ts65Dn mice were used as DS animal model.Three female mice and three male mice of three to twelve weeks old were mated.Among the 17 first-generation mice alive,five mice remained Ts65Dn trisomy and 12 mice were normal.Five Ts65Dn mice and five normal mice were selected randomly as Ts65Dn group and control group,and bred till 16 to 18 weeks old for experiments.Differential proteins in hippocampus of mice were tested by isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ).Expressions of the differential proteins in Ts65Dn group were detected compared with those in control group.Results A total of 2805 proteins were identified in hippocampus of Ts65Dn group and control group,and significant differences were observed in the expressions of 374 proteins.Compared with those in control group,expressions of 195 proteins increased and 179 reduced in Ts65Dn group.Sorted by P value from low to high,the seven proteins with the lowest P value were uncharacterized protein C2orf47 homolog,isoform 2 of filamin A-interacting protein 1-like,zinc finger protein,isoform 1 of pericentriolar material 1 protein,SEC23 interacting protein,BAG family molecular chaperone regulator 3 and serpin H1.Conclusions Differential proteins are observed in hippocampus of Ts65Dn mice,perhaps closely correlating to neurological defects.The new technology of iTRAQ helps to screen and identify differential proteins in hippocampus.

AIM: To study the effect of three kinds of drying methods on quality of Radix Angelicae Sinensis. METHODS: TLC, HPLC determination of volatile Oil and ethanol-extra ctives were used. RESULTS: The constitutents in three kinds of dried samples are the same, the contents of vo latile oil and ferulic acid have evident difference in three kinds of aried samp les. The content of fumed sample is the highest. CONCLUSION: The fuming method is the best drying one.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the efficiency of Spanishneedles Herb eye drops in treating perimenopausal xerophthalmia in rabbits.

METHODTotally 36 rabbits (36 right eyes) were ovariectomized, and 2 months later divided into three groups: the experimental group (group A, n = 12) given Spanishneedles Herb eye drops, the control group (group B, n = 12) given PBS and the model group (group C, n = 12) given no drug. The Schirmer I test (SIT), fluorescent (FL), total tear protein, diastase activity, lactoferrin and lysozyme contents and confocal scanning microscopy were performed at before the treatment and at 1 w, 2 w, 1 mo, 2 mo after the treatment.

RESULTBefore the treatment, There was no significant difference in SIT, FL, total tear protein, lysozyme, lactoferrin and amylase activity between two groups. Two months later after the treatment, both the group B and the group A showed differences degrees of changes in SIT, FL, total tear protein, lysozyme, lactoferrin and amylase activity compared with that before the treatment, with statistical differences (P < 0.05); At each time point, both groups revealed statistical differences in SIT, FL, total tear protein, lysozyme, lactoferrin and amylase activity (1 < 0.05). Two months later alter the treatment, densities of basal epithelial cells and inflammatory cells in the group A were (4 122 ±416) cells/mm2 and (339 ± 131) cells/mm2, while that in the group B were (3 343 ± 424) cells/mm2 and (49 ± 17) cells/mm2, with statistical differences between them (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSpanishneedles Herb eye drops could effectively treat perimenopausal xerophthalmia in rabbit caused by sex hormones decline.

Objective To understand the application and effect of problem based,case based and evidence based (PCE) combined teaching method in urology surgery clinical teaching.Methods A total of 50 clinical medicine students were selected.PCE combined teaching method was applied in urology surgery clinical teaching and the teaching effect was evaluated.Results The ratios of student who thought PCE combined teaching method could stimulate learning enthusiasm,improve learning efficiency and improve the abilities of logical thinking,inductive analysis,practical application,self-study,literature retrieval,innovation and team cooperation were 96％,94％,95％,94％,100％,88％,100％,96％ and 95％ respectively.All students thought this new teaching method could be extended in other subjects.Conclusions Application of PCE combined teaching method in urology surgery clinical teaching can achieve good teaching effect and it is worth recommending in clinical teaching.

Objective To establish a method of automatic analysis of iodide in drinking water.Methods In accordance with the principles of the National Standard Methods Standard Testing Methods for Dringking Water (GB 5750-2006),the reagent concentration and the ratio of dosage were optimized; the national standard artificial colorimetric detection of iodide in drinking water was substituted by automatic biochemical analyzer colorimetric analysis procedure; the accuracy and the precision of the new method were observed and compared with the National Standard Methods.Results In determination of iodide in drinking water by using automatic biochemical analyzer,the best linear ranges of the standard curve:low concentrations 0-＜ 50 μg/L with a correlation coefficient of 0.999 1,and the detection limit was 0.4 μg/L; at high concentrations of 50-500 μg/L the correlation coefficient was 0.999 3,and the detection limit was 4.0 μg/L.The coefficient of variation was 2.2％-4.2％ and the recovery was between 98.6％-1035％.Compared with the National Standard Methods,the difference was not statistically significant (t =0.97-1.70,all P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions The method of determination of iodide in drinking water by using automatic biochemical analyzer is successfully established.The accuracy and the precision of the method can meet the quality requirements of water quality analysis.

Objective To explore students nurses′acceptance of case-based group assessment. Method A total of 100 student nurses participated in the survey by a self-designed questionnaire to evaluate the perception and acceptance of the student nurses. Results The score on the acceptance of case-based group assessment was (2.44 ± 0.46). The items with higher acceptance included teamwork spirit, clinical reasoning and decision-making ability, and the items with lower acceptance were improving of nurse-patient communication and the nursing skills. Conclusions The student nurses have a good acceptance of the case-based group assessment and think this assessment method can contribute to development of teamwork spirit and competency of clinical reasoning and decision-making. On the other hand, they suggest we should strengthen the ability in nurse-patient communication and optimize the links in ability assessment.

Background To optimize the culture method of human retinal microvascular endothelial cells is very important for the study of retinal angiogenesis disease.Human retinal microvascular endothelial cells have been successfully cultured in previous studies,but further improvement of the culture method to harvest higher yields and purity cells is still needed.Objective This study was to design a modified method to isolate and purify human retinal microvascular endothelial cells much easily and quickly,and to compare the expression of specific markers of vascular endothelial cells,factor Ⅷ and CD31/CD34 in the cells.Methods The use of human donor eyeballs was approved by the Ethic Commission of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University.The retina tissue from healthy donor was isolated and digested by the two-step digestion method with 2％ trypsin and 0.133％ collagenase Ⅳ.Human retinal microvascular endothelial cells were collected and plated in 60 mm dishes coated by 0.1％ fibronectin and cultured in endothelial cell-specialized medium supplemented with 10％ fetal bovine serum,0.3 mg/L β-endothelial cell growth factor (ECGF) and 100 ng/L sodium heparin.During the culturing,the growth situation of the cells was monitored by morphological observation,and immunohistochemical staining was performed to probe vascular endothelial cell-specific membrane protein CD31,CD34 and factor Ⅷ for identification of the cell purity.Results Human retinal microvascular endothelial cells were isolated successfully from the retina by the twostep digestion method.The primary cultured cells adhered to well 72 hours later and achieved confluence with the typical cobblestone appearance 9 to 10 days after cultured.The cells exhibited the blue nuclei and reddish cytoplasm by regular haematoxylin and eosin stain and showed a strong positive response for CD31,CD34 and factor Ⅷ by immunohistochemistry.The positive dye of CD31 and CD34 was lower than Ⅷ factor in both endothelial cells.Conclusions Modified culture method of human retinal microvascular endothelial cells can improve cell culture result and purify target cells.
