AlM: To observe the therapeutic effects of improved external dacryocystorhinostomy.
METHODS:Retrospective analysis on 94 patients with monocular chronic dacryocystitis in our hospital from October 2010 to December 2013 were taken the improved external dacryocystorhinostomy. The improved surgery which was based on the traditional surgery including: 1. Nasal packing after anesthesia to relieve the pain and bleeding; 2. Not cut the medial palpebral ligament; 3. Suture the upper membrane of the nasal mucosa only;4. Pipe placement;5. Skin layered hairdressing suture. The patients were follow-up 3mo-2a after operation.
RESULTS: Ninety-three cases of patients cured with completely asymptomatic, no epiphora or mucopurulent secretion flow out from the lacrimal punctum, unobstructed lacrimal irrigation, the efficiency is 99%, 1 case of patient was epiphora, obstructed lacrimal irrigation, 1% was invalid.
CONCLUSlON:The improved external dacryocystorhinostomy is an effective surgical method which is easy to operate with high cure rate and its long term effect is precise.

The marine biological source of mineral drugs recorded in Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2010 version) mainly including pearl, nacre, clam shell, common oyster shell, ark shell, cuttle bone, and sea-ear shell are widely used in clinical. Calcium carbonate and a small amount of protein are the main components in this type of drugs. In this paper, a systematical and comparable study were carried out by determination of calcium carbonate by EDTA titration method, the crystal of calcium carbonate by X-Ray powder diffraction and the total amino acids (TAAs) of the hydrolyzed samples by ultraviolet spectrophotometry method. As a result, the crystal structure is calcite for common oyster shell, mixture of calcite and aragonite for nacre and sea-ear shell, aragonite for the other drugs. The content of calcium carbonate ranged from 86% to 96%. Cuttle bone has the highest amount of TAAs among the seven drugs which reached 1.7% while clam shell has the lowest content of 0.16% on average. In conclusion, an effective method was developed for the quality control of marine mineral drugs by comprehensive analysis of calcium carbonate and TAAs in the seven marine mineral drugs.

Objective To optimize the enamel electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectral processing by using the EPR spectral simulation method to improve the accuracy of enamel EPR dosimetry and reduce artificial error.Methods The multi-component superimposed EPR powder spectral simulation software was developed to simulate EPR spectrum models of the background signal(BS) and the radiation- induced signal (RS) of irradiated enamel respectively.RS was extracted from the multi-component superimposed spectrum of irradiated enamel and its amplitude was calculated.The dose-response curve was then established for calculating the doses of a group of enamel samples.The result of estimated dose was compared with that calculated by traditional method.Results BS was simulated as a powder spectrum of gaussian line shape with the following spectrum parameters:g =2.00 35 and Hpp =0.65 - 1.1 mT,RS signal was also simulated as a powder spectrum but with axi-symmetric spectrum characteristics.The spectrum parameters of RS were:g(1) =2.0018,g (11) =1.996 5,Hpp =0.335 - 0.4 mT.The amplitude of RS had a linear response to radiation dose with the regression equation as y =240.74x + 76 724 ( R2 =0.9947 ).The expectation of relative error of dose estimation was 0.13.Conclusions EPR simulation method has improved somehow the accuracy and reliability of enamel EPR dose estimation.

Objective To investigate the effects of intense pulse light(IPL)on the content of colla- gens and mRNA expression of procollagen in BALB/c mouse skin.Methods The BALB/c mice dorsal skin was irradiated by IPL.Skin specimens were taken at different time points after irradiation.Histopatho- logical changes were observed by hematoxylin-eosin-staining,quantitative assessment of collagenⅠand collagenⅢwas performed with immunohistochemical staining,and mRNA expression levels of procollagen were de- tected by RT-PCR.Results After the irradiation,no obvious change was observed for the staining intensity of collegen at 1 week;however,the thickening of dermis began at 2 week,and continued until 8 week.The staining of collagenⅠandⅢwas also stronger in IPL-irradiated regions than in sham-irradiated areas at 2 week(P

Objective To understand the prevalence,drug resistance and clinical features of children with acute lower respiratory tract infection(ALRI) caused by escherichia coli.Methods From Oct. 2005 to Oct. 2006,659 patients with ALRI who were admitted to hospital were chosen and their nasopharyngeal secretions were obtained and cultured.K-B disc diffusion for antibiotic susceptibility were performed for these clinical isolates.Results Among 659 patients,118 cases were isolated escherichia coli,the rate was 17.99% which had 90 boys and 28 girls.Eighty-seven of 118 E.coli strains were with extended-spectrum ?-lactamase(ESBLs),the rate was 73.73%.All of strains were sensitive to imipenem.For ESBLs-producing strains,the ratio of resistance tocefotaxime,ceftriaxone,cefuroxime,ampicillin,piperacillin were 78.81%,73.73%,73.73%,76.27%,78.81%,respectively.Conclusions The positive rate of ESBLs producing E coli in Kunming area is high and drug resistance is severe gradually.Imipenem can be the first selection for treatment on these infections.

Objective: To understand the current situation and impacts of household factors on of unhealthy dietary habits among preschool children, and to provide reference for preventing the occurrence of unhealthy dietary habits of preschool children. Methods: By using stratified random cluster sampling method, the study selected 1 070 children aged 3-6 years in 7 kindergartens in Urumqi. Household general information , children’s dietary behavior and parenting environment was collected through parent questionnaire survey. Results: The prevalence rate of unhealthy dietary habits among preschool children was 32.71%. Multifactor Logistic regression analysis showed that the unhealthy dietary habits of preschool children were negatively correlated to the following factors, including age of children [β=-0.32, 95%CI=(0.62,0.86)] , gender[β=-0.33,95%CI=(0.53,0.97)], educational level of mothers [β=0.94, 95%CI=(1.79,3.68)] , type of fanmily [β=0.64, 95%CI=(1.414,2.522)] and the scores of social adaptation/selfcare and environmental atmosphere in the family nurturing environment [β=-0.07, 95%CI=(0.90,0.97); β=-0.21, 95%CI=(0.76,0.87)]. Conclusion The cultivation of the dietary habits should pay more attention on younger children and boys, and the enhancement of health education on the children’s eating behaviors among mothers with lower education background and the primary child caregivers in the stem family. Family nurturing environment should be actively improved, in order to prevent the occurrence of children’s unhealthy dietary habits.

With the widespread clinical application of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, it has become an essential part of combination therapy for patients with breast cancer. However, a rapid, accurate, and effective approach for assessing the therapeutic efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy is unavailable. Routine physical examinations cannot provide effective clinical evaluation. Although imaging techniques play an important role in evaluating the therapeutic effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, this is limited because it only detects morphologic changes. Blood oxygen detection for breast diseases is an emerging diagnostic technique that has distinctive merit in assessing the efficacy of chemotherapy. Biologic markers are becoming more important in assessing the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for patients with breast cancer. This review summarizes the principles and the current applied practice of these approaches to evaluate the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for patients with breast cancer.

By the bioactivity technology of Low-Temperature Preparation of Anatase and Rutile Layers on porous Titanium Substrates, CPTi(Commercially pure titanium Phi4.0 mm x 20 mm) was processed and treated as experiment specimens while CPTi was treated as control specimens. Experiment specimens and control specimens were implanted into the holes (4.0 mm in diameter) in rabbit's right and left tibias respectively. After implantation for predetermined periods of 4,8,12, 16 weeks, the specimens were taken out with bone tissues, and were examined by a press-out tester to evaluate the shearing force between the implant and the bone tissue. It is found that the shearing force between the experiment specimen and the bone is more significantly higher than that between the control specimen and the bone, and the bonding time is shorter, the stabilization time is faster. This study has laid down a good foundation for the titanium metal's innovative applications in clinical orthopaedics.
