Objective To understand the effect of butylbenzyl phthalate(BBP) on the levels of DNA-protein crosslinks(DPC) in hepatic cells of mice. Methods Twenty-five male Kunming mice were randomly assigned into five groups(n=5).BBP was administered by intraperitoneal injection at doses of 0(control group),125,250,500,1 000 mg/kg respectively for 14 consecutive days. Then the levels of DNA-protein crosslinks were detected. Results DPC coefficient increased with concentration of BBP increasing.Treatments of 500 and 1 000 mg/kg BBP significantly increased the levels of DPC compared with the control group. Conclusion BBP can not cause DPC at low levels(125 mg/kg),but it can cause DPC significantly at high levels(500 and 1000 mg/kg),which may cause serious DNA damages.

OBJECTIVETo explore the clinical effects of minor bone anchors and palmaris longus tendon graft in treating chronic mallet fingers deformity.
METHODSFrom January 2008 to June 2013, 26 patients with chronic mallet fingers deformity were treated with minor bone anchors and palmaris longus tendon graft. There were 18 males and 8 females, aged from 18 to 52 years old with an average of (32.0±1.3) years. Among them, 8 cases caused by machine injury, 6 cases by fall injury, 6 cases by sprain from fight, 4 cases by tendon spontaneous rupture, 2 cases by knife trauma. There was no tendon attachment of extensor tendon check in 16 cases, and with 0.3 to 0.5 cm tendon attachment in 10 cases. All patients had the flexion deformity and the disability of dorsiflexion activity. During operation, the distal interphalangeal joint was fixed in 10° to 20° dorsiflexion by a Kirshner wire, the minor bone anchor was used to reconstruct the extensor tendon insertion, the palmaris longus tendon slice was transplanted the decayed area of extensor tendon insertion. Four weeks postoperatively, the Kirshner wire was removed and the plaster external fixation was used, and the patient began function exercises. Postoperative complications were observed and fingers functions were assessed according to Dargan standard.
RESULTSThe patients were followed up from 6 to 14 months with an average of (5.0±0.3) months. Wound superficial infection occurred in 2 cases, the skin pressure ulcer in 2 cases, joint activities disability in 1 case; these symptoms got improvement after symptomatic treatment. Traumatic arthritis occurred in 2 cases, 1 case was improved after treatment, and 1 case had chronic pain for a long time. No internal fixation loosening or breakage and tendon rupture were found. According to Dargan standard to evaluate the finger function, 17 cases got excellent results, 8 good, and 1 poor.
CONCLUSIONIt is an effective way to treat the chronic mallet finger deformity using minor bone anchors and palmaris longus tendon graft, and the method has advantages of reliable fixation, easy operation, satisfactory effect and less complication.

Objective To investigate the effects of edaranvone on lung injury induced by myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) in rats. Methods Twenty-four male Wistar rats weighing 250-300 g were randomly assigned to one of 4 groups ( n = 6 each): group Ⅰ sham operation (group S); group Ⅱ myocardial I/R and group Ⅲ and Ⅳ different doses of edaravone ( group E1, E2 ). The animals were anesthetized, intubated and mechanically ventilated. In group Ⅱ-Ⅳ myocardial I/R was induced by occlusion of left anterior descending coronary artery for 45 min followed by 3 h reperfusion. In group Ⅲ and Ⅳ edavarone 3 and 10 mg/kg was administered via right femoral vein at 1 min before reperfusion respectively. The animals were sacrificed by exsanguination at the end of 3 h reperfusion. Blood was collected for determination of serum CK-MB activity and total protein content. The left lung was lavaged and the broncho-alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was colleted for determination of protein content. Pulmonary permeability index (PPI) was calculated. The lung tissue was obtained for determination of BD-2 mRNA and protein and TNF-α expression. Results The serum CK-MB activity, PPI,BD-2 mRNA and protein and TNF-α expression were significantly higher in group I/R, E1 and E2 than in group S,but significantly lower in group E1 and E2 than in group I/R and in group E2 than in group E1. Conclusion Edaravone can reduce myocardial I/R-induced lung injury by scavenging oxygen free radicals and inhibiting inflammatory response of lung tissues in rats.

Objective To investigate the clinicopathological features of glomus tumor and its differential diagnosis. Methods Clinical, morphologie and immunohistoehemical representations were described in 11 cases of glomus tumor. Results The tumors were located at the hyponychial in 7 cases, forearm subcutaneous in 2 cases, knee subcutaneous in 1 case, gastric antrum forewall in 1 cases. Localized pain was the primary symptom. 9 giomus tumors were histopathologically classified as solid type, and 2 glomangiomatous type. The prominent morphologic features of glomus tumor were as follows: the tumor cells were small, round, uniform, the tumor cells arranged around capillary vessel or expansion of the small vein showing nest pattern, some tumor cells in fasciation pattern; focally myxoid change in the stroma were seen. Immunohistochemistry: 11 cases were positive for SMA and Vimentin; while other markers including CK, CD117, CD34, CgA, Syn, Desmin, S-100 and HMB45, were all negative. All 11 cases were without any evidence of recurrence or metastasis in followed-up for 12-30 months. Conclusion Glomus tumor is extremely rare. The diagnosis depends on the histology and immunohistochemistry. Glomus tumor is rare in visceral sites. It may be misdiagnosed and needs to he differentiated from other tumors.

China Oncology 2016;26(12):968-973
Background and purpose:Human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2), a member of epidermal growth factor receptor family, initiates a diverse set of signaling pathways that ultimately affect such fun-damental processes as cell proliferation, cell motility and cell apoptosis. It is reported that HER-2 was associated with epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process. However, the mechanism needs further investigation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanism of HER-2 on regulating EMT process. Methods:Transwell assay was used to determine the motility of breast cancer cells; Real-time lfuorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-FQ-PCR) was employed to determine the expression of genes of interest, and reactive oxygen species production was measured by reactive oxygen species detection kit.Results:HER-2 overexpression in breast cancer cells could promote cell migration and invasion. Mechanistic study showed that HER-2 overexpression could upregulate ZEB1 expression. ZEB1 silencing by siRNA reduced cell motility of HER-2-overexpressing breast cancer cells. Furthermore, reactive oxygen species produced in HER-2-overexpressing breast cancer cells were less than those produced in corresponding control cells. Conclusion:Our study demonstrated that HER-2 overexpression endowed breast cancer cells with EMT related properties by upregulating ZEB1 expression. ZEB1 could be a candidate target for further study of the relation-ship between HER-2 and EMT.
