BACKGROUND:Chitosan is a kind of biomaterial with good hemostatic, antibacterial and absorption properties. The guanidine modified chitosan holding better antibacterial and absorption abilities is a commonly used chemical separation material. However, its coagulation property is still unclear. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the in vitro hemostatic property and cytotoxicity of the guanidine modified chitosan, and to explore its availability as a hemostatic material.METHODS:The guanidine modified chitosan was synthesized with the raw materials of chitosan and arginine, and the coupling agents of EDC and NHS. The coagulation ability was evaluated preliminarily through the whole blood coagulation time, and three in vitro coagulation indexes (activated partial thromboplastin time, prothrombin time and thrombin time). The guanidine modified chitosan extracts were co-cultured with the mouse fibroblasts, and then the cell growth was observed by MTT assay and fluorescence microscope. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The guanidine modified chitosan shortened the whole blood coagulation time, suggesting its hemostatic property. In vitro coagulation results indicated that the guanidine modified chitosan exerted the effect not through the traditional endogenous and extrinsic coagulation pathways. Guanidino group has not been proved to be hemostatic, so the chitosan may be the effective component. MTT assay showed that the cell proliferation rate was 87.8%and the toxicity level was grade 1. Fluorescent staining observed abundant live cells, and few dead cells, indicating that the guanidine modified chitosan exhibits low cytotoxicity.

The colorimetric method has been well developed to detect the sensitivity of most antiproliferative drugs with the advantages of objectivity and accuracy. Many parameters including the dosage and the absorbance of crystalline violet, the extraction time of the solvent, plate effect and marginal effect were investigated, then the optimized method was applied further to measure the biological activity during the refolding of recombinant human IFN-? inclusion bodies.

Objective To investigate the combination of Oxycodone and Morphine Hydrochloride Injec-tion in cancer pain and breakthrough cancer pain (BtCP).Methods This study included 78 patients with moder-ate or severe cancer pain ,which was titration with Oxycodone and Morphine Hydrochloride Injection .All data were obtained from diagnosed malignant tumors and followed up in the people ′s hospital of Jiangmen city between Jan 2011 and Dec 2015.Results The first 5 days of the titration with a total Morphine Equivalent Dose (MED)be-tween 156~1 491 mg(426.46 ±286.00 mg),and a total dose of IV morphine hydrochloride injection between 2~57 mg(20.96 ±13.25 mg).The mean dose used in the treatment of BtCP was 2.23 ±2.50 mg in Phase B(8 pm~8 am)and 1.96 ±2.14 mg in Phase A(P<0.05).When the treatment begun Numerical Rating Scale (NRS)showed a significant decrease .All the patients were less likely to experience any severe side -effects. Conclusion The titration by Oxycodone and Morphine Hydrochloride Injection is a simple , safe and efficient method,with less side-effect,significantly improve the living quality .It′s a good choice in the titration of moder-ate or severe cancer pain .

OBJECTIVE:To study the adverse drug reactions(ADRs)induced by weight-reducing drugs and to provide references for rational administration in clinics.METHODS:Classification statistic and analysis were conducted on462cases with weight-reducing drug-induced ADRs reported in62kinds of domestic and overseas medicinal periodicals published during the period of1980～2004.RESULTS:With pseudo-5-HTA appetite-suppressing drugs showing the high incidence of ADRs,which stood at36.36%of the total.Multi-systems were involved in ADRs,with the cardiovascular system showing the highest proportion(53.68%).The prognostic mortality accounted for18.61%of the total.CONCLUSION:ADRs induced by weight-reducing drugs were associated with many factors,to avoid the occurrences of which,medical workers should give more directions and monitoring on administration of drugs.

ObjectiveTo detect the changes of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) with high resolution endoscopy,and to explore its diagnostic value for nonerosive reflux disease (NERD). Methods From April 2007 to January 2008, consecutive out-patients visiting the Department of Gastroenterology due to continuous or recurrent symptoms of acid reflux, heartburn, cardiac-like chest pain for at least three months and volunteer healthy controls were recruited to the study. The subjects were classified into the normal group ( n =48 ), the NERD group ( n =70), the erosive esophagitis (EE) group ( n =70), and the Barrett esophagus (BE) group ( n =48). All subjects underwent endoscopy, and the shape of Z-lines, the shape of mucosal pits, mucosa roughness above Z-line and the shape of mucosal blood vessels were observed. The NERD changes were analyzed with optimal scale. ResultsZ-line shape of NERD group showed a significant difference from that of EE and BE groups ( P ＜ 0. 01 ), which was not different from that of normal controls ( P ＞0. 01 ). The shape of mucosal pits of NERD group was different from that of EE and BE (P ＜0. 01 ), which also was not different from that of control (P＞0. 01 ). Roughness of the mucosa above Z-line of NERD group was different from other 3 groups (P ＜0. 05). And the shape of mucosal blood vessels of NERD was different from the control (P＜0. 05), but was not from two others. Features of NERD relative images were thin,straight and spiral blood vessels, bar-like pits, plat mucosa, round, smooth and wide tooth-like Z-line and mucosa of white particle hypertrophy. ConclusionHigh resolution endoscopic features of most NERD patients are cloudy, white and rough mucosal surface, with white particular hypertrophy, spiral vascular dilation, extending to Z-line. These features can be indicators of NERD.

Objective To evaluate the value of indirect hemagglutination test(IHA)in schistosomiasis diagnosis. Meth?ods The literature concerned schistosomiasis diagnosis with IHA in the databases of Medline,CNKI,VIP and Wanfang Data from 1982 to 2014 was collected and evaluated. Results Totally 21 articles which were satisfied with the research criteria were analyzed with the Meta?analysis method. The IHA method had high value in schistosomiasis diagnosis,the AUCSROC of IHA in laboratory evaluation was 0.990 6,while in filed evaluation was 0.832 9,and the difference between them was significant(Z=4.50,P<0.05). Conclusion The diagnosis value of IHA in field evaluation is less than that in laboratory. In the process of the elimination of schistosomiasis,developing a new and higher sensitive reagent in schistosomiasis diagnosis is needed.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of electro-acupuncture (EA) treatment on the oocyte quality in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) patients undergoing in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET).

METHODSTotally 217 PCOS patients undergoing IVF-ET were assigned to two groups by random digit table, the EA group (119 cases) and the control group (98 cases). All patients received long program ovarian hyperstimulation with gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist. Patients in the EA group received EA treatment in the process of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation till the oocyte retrieval day. The position relation of the spindle to the polocyte, the number of retrieved oocytes, the fertilization rate,the cleavage rate,the high quality embryo rate, the ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) incidence rate, the clinical pregnancy rate, the early abortion rate, the gonadotropins (Gn) dose and time, levels of estradiol (E2), progesterone (P), and luteinizing hormone (LH) on the day of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) were observed between the two groups.

RESULTSThe ratio of oocytes in which the meiotic spindle deviation angle was < 60 degrees to the all oocytes was obviously higher in the EA group than in the control group (P < 0.05). The oocytes in which the meiotic spindle deviation angle was < 60 degrees was positively related to level of E2 on the HCG day and the high quality embryo rate (r = 0.19,P < 0.01). Compared with the control group, the high quality embryo rate increased significantly (P < 0.05), the dose and days of Gn decreased significantly (P < 0.05) in the EA group. The clinical pregnancy rate was improved by 8.36%.

CONCLUSIONSThe spindle was positively correlated with the oocyte quality. EA could improve the quality of oocytes and the clinical pregnancy rate in PCOS patients undergoing IVF-ET.

This study investigated the effect of arctigenin (Arc) on the cell activation, cytokines expression, proliferation, and cell-cycle distribution of mouse T lymphocytes. Mouse lymphocytes were prepared from lymph node and treated with Phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA)/Ionimycin (Ion) and/or Arc. CD69, CD25, cytokines, proliferation and cell cycle were assayed by flow cytometry. The results showed that, at concentrations of less than 1.00 micromol x L(-1), Arc expressed non-obvious cell damage to cultured lymphocytes, however, it could significantly down-regulate the expression of CD69 and CD25, as well as TNF-alpha, IFN-gamma, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6 and IL-10 on PMA/Ion stimulated lymphocytes. At the same time, Arc could also inhibit the proliferation of PMA/Ion-activated lymphocytes and exhibited lymphocyte G 0/G1 phase cycle arrest. These results suggest that Arc possesses significant anti-inflammatory effects that may be mediated through the regulation of cell activation, cytokines expression and cell proliferation.

A novel multi-components microcapsule--SA/CS-CaCl2/PMCG system was introduced. The effects of PMCG and SA/CS-CaCl2/PMCG microcapsules on the growth of free E. coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae were studied respectively. In addition, the growth of immobilized E. coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae were also investigated. The results showed that: Just like other synthetic polycations, PMCG above certain concentration (0.5%) strongly inhibited the growth of free E. coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, but SA/CS-CaCl2/PMCG microcapsules almost had no effects on their growth and on the consumption of glucose concentration by Saccharomyces cerevisiae. What's more, immobilized E. coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae grew almost as normally as free cultivation. As a whole, SA/CS-CaCl2/PMCG microcapsules had good biocompatiability and can be used as a new immobilization system.
