Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2013;(8):45-47
Objective To observe the regulatory effects of the preventive acupuncture and moxibustion at Guanyuan (RN4) points in ovariectomized rats, and discuss the mechanism of preventive acupuncture and moxibustion on hyoathalamus-pituitary-ovary (HPO) axis. Methods Totally 48 female SD rats were divided into 5 groups, including normal group, sham operation group, ovariectomized rats group, preventive acupuncture group and preventive moxibustion group. Except normal group and sham operation group, rats were ovariectomized after preventive acupuncture and preventive moxibustion for 30 d in corresponding groups. ELISA was used to determine the levels of E2, ER, GnRH, FSH and LH in the tissues including hypophysis, hypothalamus and uterus. Results Compared with the normal group, E2, ER and GnRH level in the tissue of the model group was significantly lower (P<0.01), the levels of FSH and LH increased obviously (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, E2, ER and GnRH level of preventive acupuncture group and preventive moxibustion group increased in different degree (P<0.05). FSH and LH level reduced in different degree (P <0.05). There was no obvious difference between preventive acupuncture and preventive moxibustion group (P>0.05). Conclusions The preventive acupuncture and preventive moxibustion at Guanyuan (RN4) has benign modulation to disordered HPO axis of ovariectomized rats. The ability of preventive acupuncture and preventive moxibustion are almost the same.

Objective To observe prospectively and systematically the effect and safety of rhendostati injection (endostar) combined with FOLFOX as a second line chemotherapy for advanced/metastatic colorectal cancer. Methods 23 patients with histological confirmed advanced/metastatic colorectal cancer after first line chemotherapy failure were observed. The dosage of 15 mg/time of endostar solved in 500ml normal saline was slowly intravenously dropped 4 h from day 1 to day 14. Oxaliplatin 85 mg/m~2 iv 2-3 h dl, d15. CF 200 mg/m~2 iv 2 h followed by 5-Fu 400 mg iv bolus and 5-Fu 600 mg/m~2 iv 22 h dl-2, d15-16 were given, every 4 weeks as one cycle. Efficacy was evaluated after 2 cycles according to RECIST criteria. Results 23 cases had been completed totally 56 cycles. Among 23 cases, 8 cases were PR, 12 cases SD, and 3 cases PD. The objective response rate (RR) was 34.8 % (8/23), and the disease control rate (DCR) was 87.0 % (20/23). The median time to progression was 7 months. The 1-year survival rate were 50.0 %. The 2-year survival rate was 40.0 %. The occurrence rate of G3/4 toxicities was low, including neutropenia(21.7 %), anemia(4.3 %), thrombocytopenia (13.0 %). Those toxicities were mainly related with the chemotherapy agents. Meanwhile transient electrocardiogram changes mild ST-T of changes occurred in 3 cases. 2 cases were mild hypertension and were symptomatically controlled. Conclusion There are better efficacies of endostar combined with FOLFOX chemotherapy for advanced/metastatic colorectal cancer, and it is low toxic and tolerable. It is worth of further clinical observation. More experiences need to be accumulated.

In order to investigate the effect of antisense oligonucleotide (ASODN) of vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C) on lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis of pancreatic cancer, antisense and scamble-sense oligonucleotide of VEGF-C were constructed, and the model of nude mice with orthotopically xenografted human pancreatic cancer cells (Panc-1) was established. Thirty nude mice were randomly divided into 3 groups: PBS control group (group A), scramble-sense control group (group B) and antisense group (group C). All nude mice were treated once every 2 days as 3 times per week, for 3 weeks (oligonucleotide 10 mg/kg every time). After treatments were completed, ELISA method was used to examine the concentration of VEGF-C in plasma and immunohistochemical method to examine microvessel density (MVD), lymphtic vessel density (LVD) of pancreatic cancer. The results showed that the expression of VEGF-C was inhibited significantly in group C. The concentrations were 237.5+/-41.5, 221.5+/-52.3 and 108.6+/-14.9 pg/mL in groups A, B and C respectively (P<0.01). LVD in groups A, B and C was 13.8+/-2.1, 12.4+/-1.9 and 4.2+/-1.6 respectively (P<0.01). MVD in groups A, B and C was 27.5+/-8.7, 25.9+/-4.2 and 19.4+/-5.6 respectively with no significant difference among the groups (P>0.05). It was suggested that VEGF-C ASODN decreased the expression levels of VEGF-C in nude mice with orthotopically xenografted human pancreatic cancer, and it could inhibit lymphangiogenesis, but had no significant effect on angiogenesis.

Objective To analysis the influence of component design and related surgical technique on knee range of motion (ROM) after total knee replacement using Innex knee system. Methods Between September 2003 and December 2005, 88 patients with 98 knees had consecutively undergone posterior cruciate-sacrificing TKA with Innex systems. The posterior condylar offset, post-operative tibial slope and knee ROM were measured in 63 patients (70 knees). The relationship of the change in posterior condylar offset and postoperative tibial slope with knee ROM was assessed using a scatterplot graph and Pearson's regression analysis. According to change of posterior condylar offset, which was measured by postoperative minus preoperative posterior condylar offset, patients were divided into 4 groups. The preoperative body mass index, flexion contracture, knee ROM, HSS score and the postoperative knee ROM of four groups were evaluated. Results The mean knee ROM had improved from 96.2°±11.9° preoperative to 109.8°±13.0° at final followup. The mean pre- and post-operative posterior condylar offset was (24.0±3.5) mm and (24.5±3.3) mm, respectively. The mean postoperative tibial slope was 5.5°±1.8°. There was statistical correlation between the difference in the posterior condylar offset and the change in knee ROM after TKA and no correlation between the postoperative tibial slope and knee ROM postoperatively. The preoperative body mass index, flexion contracture, knee ROM, HSS score did not show difference among four groups. There was a statistically difference in postoperative knee ROM among groups. Conclusion Restoration of posterior condylar offset is important to the maximum range of postoperative knee ROM when Orthopedic surgeons perform TKA with Innex systems. There was no correlation between the postoperative tibial slope and postoperative ROM.

Objective To observe cerebral hippocampus glucose metabolism using 18F-FDG micro-PET as an imaging technique in a normal group of mice, and model and electroacupuncture groups of SAMP8 mice with senile dementia (rapid aging mice). Method Four 6-month-old SAMR1 mice were picked at random out of the normal group and every four 6-month-old SAMP8 mice, out of the model and electroacupuncture groups respectively. Each of them was anesthetized by inhalation of 2% isoflurane and then given a bolus injection of radioactive tracer 18F-FDG 14.8~16.5 MBq through the tail vein. After one hour of the uptake, a PET scan was performed for 10 min. Hippocampus 18F-FDG uptake rate per gram of brain was calculated in every group of mice and the uptake rates were compared between the groups.Result The 18F-FDG uptake rate per gram of brain tissue was higher in the electroacupuncture group of mice than in the normal and model groups. Conclusion Electroacupuncture can markedly increase cerebral 18F-FDG uptake and the uptake rate per gram of brain tissue in SAMP8 mice. It may play a neuroprotective role through its influence on cerebral glucose metabolism.
