AIM: To investigate the effect of cold exposure on the thermoregulatory function in hypothyroid rats. METHODS: Hypothyroid model was established by administration of antithyroid drug propylthiouracil(PTU) in rats. Colonic temperature was measured using digital thermometer. Plasma T_3 and T_4 concentrations were determined by radioimmunoassay. The effect of cold exposure on body temperature was observed after 2 weeks of PTU treatment. RESULTS: Plasma T_3 and T_4 concentrations were reduced markedly 2 weeks after PTU treatment, and colonic temperature was also decreased markedly; Hyperthermic response was not different between PTU group and control group during cold exposure. CONCLUSION: This study suggests that PTU-induced hypothyroid rat possesses a robust thermogenic response to short bouts of cold exposure.

Objective To study the protective effect of hyperoxic liquid preconditioning in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods Thirty rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: group A undergoing all procedures except ischemia-reperfusion, group C receiving the routine infusion of hyperoxic liquid 15mL/kg for seven days, and group B receiving the routine treatment infusion of saline instead of hyperoxic liquid 15mL/kg. Seven days later, the myocardial ischemic reperfusion model (I/R) was fabricated, ECG and homodynamic index were monitored simultaneously. Plasma MDA and SOD level was assayed before ligation, 30min after ligation and 1, 2, 3h after reperfusion. Objective To study the enhancement effects of the low frequency ultrasound to the apoptosis induced by dihydroar-temisinin in the transplantation human prostate cancer PC-3 cells in nude mice ,and to explore the underlying action mechanism . Methods Prostate cancer PC-3 cells were transplanted into 20 nude mice to establish the solid tumor mode .These nude mice were randomly divided into 4 groups with 5 mice in each group :control group ,dihydroartemisinin group ,ultrasound group and ultrasound+ dihydroartemisinin group .After 13 days and 7 times drug administration ,The positive products of Bcl-2 ,Bax ,VEGF ,Caspase-3 and CHOP were tested by immunohistochemical method .Results The tumor volume were larger in control group and ultrasound group through observed by tumor contour ,and there were liquefication and necrosis region after incised the tumor tissue .Immuno-histochemical examination revealed that the positive products of Bcl-2 and VEGF were decreased in ultrasound+DHA group ,DHA group and ultrasound group .Immunohistochemical examination revealed that the positive products of Bax 、Caspase-3 and CHOP were significantly increased in ultrasound+DHA group ,DHA group and ultrasound group .Conclusion The low frequency ultra-sound can′t cause obvious damage to the normal cell ,which could causing the change of the positive products in transplantation hu-man prostate cancer PC-3 cells .The results show that DHA has this action alone ,the ultrasound may enhance the apoptosis of PC-3 cells induced by DHA.

Objective To investigate the changes in gastric intramucosal pH(pHi) and the effect of hyperoxic liquid on intramucosal pH(pHi) after myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in rabbits.Methods Twenty healthy male adult rabbits,weighing 2.3-3.0 kg,were randomly divided into two groups: control group(n=10) and hyperoxic liquid group(n=10).Hyperoxic liquid group received the routine infusion of hyperoxic liquidle of 10 mL/kg for seven days,while control group received the routine treatment infusion of saline instead of hyperoxic liquid of 10 mL/kg.Seven days later,the myocardial ischemic reperfusion model(I/R) was established,and ECG and homodynamic indexes were monitored simultaneously.Hemodynamic indexes and pHi were measured before myocardial ischemia,30 min after myocardial ischemia as well as 1 h and 2 h after reperfusion.Results Hyperoxic liquid could lower ST segment and improve hemodynamic indexes.pHi decreased significantly after myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in both groups.Compared with that in control group,pHi was significantly higher at 1 h and 2 h after reperfusion in hyperoxic liquid group(P

Objective To investigate the distribution and antibiotic resistance characteristics of pathogen in mastitis patients and to provide important foundation for clinical rational antibiotic use .Methods The bacterial isolates from 114 mastitis specimens were collected .Identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing were carried out .Results A total of 67 strains were isolated from clinical specimen ,in which Staphylococcus aureus[50 .7% (34/67)] and Staphylococcus epidermidis[44 .8% (30/67)] were themostcommonisolate,also Escherichiacoli[1.49% (1/67)],Klebsiellapneumoniae[1.49% (1/67)]andAcinetobactercalcoace-ticus[1 .49% (1/67)] were isolated .The rates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) and methicillin-resistance to coagulase-negative Staphylococci(MRCNS) were 8 .8% and 46 .7% ,respectively .The sensitive rates of minocycline ,vancomycin , teicoplanin ,furadantin to MRSA strains were 100 .0% .The sensitive rates of vancomycin ,teicoplanin ,levofloxacin ,furadantin and oxacillin to methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus(MSSA) were 100 .0% .The sensitive rates of minocycline ,rifampin ,furadan-tin ,vancomycin ,teicoplanin and oxacillin to methicillin-sensitive to coagulase-negative Staphylococci(MSCNS) were 100 .0% .The sensitive rates of vancomycin ,teicoplanin ,minocycline and furadantin to MRCNS were 100 .0% .The resistance rates of penicillin to MRSA ,MSSA ,MSCNS ,MRCNS were 100 .0% .Conclusion Staphylococcus is the main pathogen of mastitis patients .Penicillin is not a first selective drug for acute mastitis .

Objective To analyse the relationship and mechanism between chronic periodontitis (CP) and IgA nephropathy (IgAN) by establishing animal model of chronic periodontitis and IgA nephropathy in SD rats.Methods Eighty health male SD rats were divided into four groups,control group (A,n=20),IgAN group (B,n=20),CP group (C,n=20),CP accompanied with IgAN group (D,n=20).CP model was established by ligating silk suture and besmeared pathogenic bacterium in rats dental cervix.Experimental IgAN model was established by lavage of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and carbon tetrachloride (CCl4).Ten rats were sacrificed in every group at the end of week 8 and 12.The blood,urine,kidney tissue samples were examined.The observation index included proteinuria,kidney and liver function,renal tissue pathology and periodontal tissue pathology.The data were statistically analysed.Results Animal models were established successfully.The levels of Scr and BUN in group A,B,C were not obvious difference,but that in group D was higher than the other third groups at 8 weeks (P ＜ 0.05).The levels of Scr and BUN in group D and group B were significantly higher than that in group A,meanwhile that in group D was significantly higher than that in group B at 12 weeks(P ＜ 0.05).The levels of 24 h urine protein in B,C,D groups were higher than that in group A at 8 weeks(P ＜ 0.05),but at 12 week,that in group D was higher than that in group B and C (P ＜ 0.05).At 8 weeks,glomeruli had little mesangial broadening and renal interstitium had mild hyperplasia of fibrous tissue in group B and D,and that in the group D significantly was heavier than that in group B.The focal varying degrees were glomerular mesangial proliferation hardening,glomerular mesangial broadening,focal segmental sclerosis,and diffuse or focal inflammatory cell infiltration in D group at the end of week 12.The score of PAS between group A and group C had no statistical significance.The scores of PAS in group B and D were higher than that in group A (P ＜ 0.01),and that in group D was higher than that in group B (P ＜ 0.01).Obvious inflammation of periodontal tissue was observed in group C and D,and modified sulcus bleeding index (MBI) were higher than that in group A and B,and MBI in group D was significantly higher than that in group C (P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions The model can be used to research the change of biochemistry and pathology and observe the relationship between chronic periodontitis and IgAN.This study shows that there is relationship between chronic periodontitis and IgAN.Chronic periodontitis maybe make more serious pathology damage in kidney by inflammation mechanism.

Objective:To observe the anticaries effects of the vaccine gene pcDNA3- PAc against dental caries in BALB/c mice by different routes. Methods: BALB/c mice were immunized with the recombinant plasmid pcDNA3- PAc by the submandibular gland- target injection,the quadriceps femoris injection and the intranasal irrigation respectively. All the mice were immunized two times. The immune interval was two weeks. Saliva and serum samples were collected respectively at 0, 1, 2, 4 weeks after immunization. The specific antibodies were detected by ELISA. Results:The specific antibodies were up at one week after immunization in different routes. The peak time of the antibodies level appeared at 4 weeks.The level of salivary specific anti- PAc IgA induced by submandibular gland- target injection and that of serum IgG induced by thigh bone muscle injection was the highest, respectively. The differences of antibodies level between in experiment groups and negative control group or vacant comparison group were significant(P<0.01). Conclusion: The vaccine gene pcDNA3- PAc effectively induce local mucosal immune response and systemic immune response.

Objective To study the prognostic value of modified early warning score (MEWS) and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE Ⅱ) score in emergency ICU elderly patients.Methods 113 elderly patients were collected in emergency ICU,after admission to calculate the MEWS score and APACHE Ⅱ score,the MEWS score and APACHE Ⅱ score difference were compared between death group and survival group.the differences were compared in MEWS score ≤ 3,4 ～6,7 ～ 9,≥ 10 scores groups respectively;analysis of the MEWS score and APACHE Ⅱ the relevance score.the correlation analysis of the MEWS score and APACHE Ⅱ score was given.Results The MEWS(7.91 ± 2.42) point and APACHE Ⅱ (21.9 ± 4.18) point in death group were greater than that in survival group [(4.51 ± 2.14) point,(19.53 ± 4.37) point] (t =7.49,2.70,all P ＜ 0.01).With MEWS score increasing,the fatality rate rose(P ＜0.01).the MEWS score and APACHE Ⅱ score was correlated(r =0.617,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion The MEWS score was a simple and quick scoring system,as well as APACHE Ⅱ,it can predict the prognosis of elderly patients in emergency department,it has important application value.
