Objective To undertake a systematic review of the economic burden of diabetes in China.Methods Published literatures about the medical cost and economic burden of diabetes in China were searched for analyzing the methodologies and results.Results Altogether 374 articles were identified in the literatures.Review of the articles resulted in the identification of 40 of these that met all criteria.Cost of illness studies and hospitalization expenditure per admission comprised the largest source of the studies.Cost of illness approach,calculations from the national survey's data and the matching method were adopted in most researches and led to variations of result.Conclusions Differences in research methods are the key determinants of variations of the result.Even the same method with different data sources,patient types or investigating spots still contributes to great variations.Without well-accepted standards to guide researchers in their execution of these studies,policymakers and the general publicmust be wary of the methods and data source used in their calculation and subsequent results.

Objective To investigate the cognition of nurse groups toward nurses' dual practice,and to analyze nurses' tendency to pursuc dual practice and its influencing factors.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted,and 1010 registered nurses were recruited using stratified sampling method.Results Most (76.4％) nurses agreed with nurses' dual practice.The willingness about nurses' dual practice was significantly different(P=0.022,P=0.008) due to different age and length of service.The top three benefits of nurses' dual practice were to increase reasonable salary of nurses,improve quality of nursing care in community institutions for the aged and increase the utilization of health care resource.As for the disadvantages,disrupting the medical and nursing order,increasing difficulties of management and government's supervision,increasing medical risks.Nurses believed that the main obstacles for nurses' dual practice were the unclear medical risks and the unprotected nurses' interests.Conclusion The nurse groups had a positive and optimistic attitude towards nurses' dual practice.In the case that the government implements relevant laws and regulations,and the interests of nurses are well-guaranteed,nurses' dual practice is a good measure that can improve nurses' work motivation.

? amyloid protein(A?) including A?40 and A?42 are the important bioactive substances in vivo.Their toxic and beneficial attributes in the body depend on its concentration.The brain A? level is maintained by two balances under the physiological condition.The first balance is the generation involved in ?-secretase and ?-secretase and the degradation involved in neprilysin(NEP) and insulin-degrading enzyme(IDE) of A?. The second one is the balance between the receptor for advanced end glycation products(RAGE)-mediated influx and low-density lipoprotein receptor related protein 1(LRP1)-mediated efflux of A? across the blood-brain barrier(BBB).Breakdowning any one of the two balances would result in the aggregation and precipitation of A? in the brain,which is a crucial event in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease(AD).This paper reviews the regulation of brain A? level under the physiological condition and the reducing strategies on the level of brain A? under the pathological condition for developing new drugs in the treatment of AD.

Objective To investigate the related factors of clinical incidence and the ultrasound diagnostic value of endometrial polyps (EMP).Methods A total of 278 patients with clinical abnormal vaginal bleeding,menorrhagia,infertility,cervical polyps or physical examination showing EMP received vaginal ultrasound and hysteroscopy.The related clinical factors were recorded and single factors and multivariate unconditional Logistic regression analysis were carried.Results The univariate analysis showed that the number of pregnancy,menopause,placing intrauterine device,oral comtraceptives,history of hormone therapy,chronic endometritis,cervical polyp,merger endometriosis and obesity were the statistically significant factors of EMP incidence (P ＜ 0.05 or ＜ 0.01),which were used as dependent variables for multivariate Logistic regression analysis,indicating that menopause,chronic endometritis,history of hormone therapy and cervical polyp significantly affecting EMP incidence (P ＜ 0.05),with OR values of 4.068,4.122,3.770 and 3.983 respectively.Conclusion Menopause,chronic endometritis,history of hormone therapy,cervical polyps are the related risk factors of EMP.

Objective: To improve clinical utility of the Nurses Observation Sca le for Inpatient Evaluation (NOSIE-30) in China. Methods: Based on the original scale, which only provides names and ranked scores for items, we developed clear definitions for each item and anchoring descriptions for score rating. 164 firs t-episode schizophrenic patients were evaluated with this scale every two weeks after admission. A total of 994 evaluations were completed. The collected data w ere randomly divided into two independent data sets. The number and content of t he subscales were revised based on principal component factor analysis and item analysis of the first data set. The revised scale was then evaluated and compare d with the original 7-subscale version of the instrument using the second data s et. Results: Factor analysis found that the factor structu re of the revised scal e was markedly different from that of the original instrument. Item analysis res ulted in elimination of 30 original items and redistribution of the remaining 26 items into 5 subscales. Comparison of the revised scale with the original instr ument revealed better psychometric properties for the former than the latter.Conclusion: The subscale scores of the original 7-subscale v ersion of NOSIE-30 did not reflect independent symptom clusters in Chinese schizophrenic inpatients. T o improve the usefulness of the scale in China, the present study recommended a better revised scale with re-definition of items into 5 subscales.

OBJECTIVE:To approach the feasibility of replacing pyrogen test by bacterial endotoxin test(BET)in assaying the injectio puerarin.METHODS:Kinetic turbimetric assay(KTA)was used to determine the bacterial endotoxin,and an inhi?bition and strengthen test by using the EDS-99bacterial endotoxin systems was adopted for assaying injectio puerarin.RES_ ULTS:The regression equation of standard curve was logT=2.7957—0.2422logC,r=—0.9973;Injectio puerarin did not interfere with limulus test agent in1∶60dilution.CONCLUSION:This method is slight in interference and accurate in de?tection result,and can be used in routine assay.

Background Corneal blindness is one of the major blinding eye diseases in China.With the development and progress of tissue engineering technology,tissue-engineered corneas offers a new approach to the treatment of corneal diseases.To select and cultivate ideal seed cells is a foundation of construction of tissueengineered corneas.Objective This study was to evaluate the efficiency of stripe off the Descemet membrane with endothelium plus enzymic digestion in the isolation of corneal endothelial cells and analyze the bionomics of rabbit corneal endothelial cells (CECs) in vitro.Methods Descemet membrane was stripped from fresh cornea of New Zealand rabbit under the dissection microscope.Descemet membrane with endothelium was incubated in trypsin and EDTA solution at 37 ℃ and then purified for CECs subculture in vitro.The morphology of the cultured cells was observed under the inverted microscope and marked by CM-Dil dye solution.Then the shape of the cells was observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining and the cells were identified for the expression of neuron specific enolase (NSE) using immunochemistry.The viability of the cells were evaluated by trypan blue staining.The surface structure of the cells were examined under the scanning electron microscope.Intercellular zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) was identified by immunofluorecsence staining.Results A large number of purified CECs were obtained from Descemet membrane with endothelium through enzymic digestion.Cultured cells grew well and formed monolayer 5-7 days later with the cobblestone stone-like arrangement.The survival rate of the cells was 95％.CECs presented with the red annular fluorescence for CM-Dil with the labeling rate ＞90％.NSE was positively expressed in the cytoplasm.Polygon CECs were seen by hematoxylin and eosin staining and showed the brown staining.Abundant microvilli on the cellular surface and interconnected foot process were seen under the scanning electron microscope.ZO-1 showed the green fluorescence.Conclusions The method of striping off the corneal Descemet membrane with endothelium plus enzymic digestion can obtain abundant CECs.Cultured cells have good biological properties.This study may offer a feasible application in the engineering of corneal transplant membrane.

Objective To establish a RP-HPLC method for determination of ammonium glycyrrhizinate in Shufei Mixture .Methods The sample was analyzed on an Agilent Zorbax SB-C18 column (4.6mm ×150 mm, 5μm), and acetonitrile-0.0025 mol/L sodium heptanesulfonate solution–0.05 mol/L potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution(20:45:45) ( adjusted pH value of 7.2 ±0.05 with 20% sodium hydroxide solution) was used as mobile phase.The flow rate was at 1.0 mL/min.The detective wavelength was at 250 nm.The column temperature was 30 ℃.Results With this chromatographic condition, the ammonium glycyrrhizinate peak in Shufei Mixture sample chromatogram could be separated with other ingredient peaks completely.The negative sample had no interference.The calibration curve was linear at a ranges of 23.6-118.1μg/mL for ammonium glycyrrhizinate, and equation of regression was Y=0.1133X–0.00110,r=0.999 8.The average recovery from sample was 97.8% and RSD was 0.88%(n=6).The content range of ammonium glycyrrhizinate in three batch Shufei Mixture sample was 0.2532-0.2865 mg/mL, and average content was 0.2721 mg/mL. Conclusion This method is simple, accurate, and useful for control method of this preparation.

Objective To investigate the expression of CD147 and its significance in human cervical carcinoma. Methods Western blotting and immunohistochemical staining were used to detect CD147 expression in cervical cancer or normal cervix uteri tissues. Results CD147 protein was expressed in all of cervical carcinomas (41/41, 100.0%) and most of normal cervix uteri tissues (11/12, 91.7%). CD147 with different molecular weights were present in cervical tissues. The percentage of CD147-positive cells and the expressional level of CD147 were higher in cervical carcinomas than in normal cervix (P<0.05). Conclusion CD147 might be recognized as a marker of cell proliferation. High expression of CD147 in cervical carcinomas suggests that it might be a potential target for cervical carcinoma therapy.
