Objective To investigate the potential mechanisms of vascular dementia (VD) by comparing the neuroethological and pathological changes of two VD models, established with spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) and the rat, of which the bilateral carotid arteries were ligated. Methods Ten male SHRs were employed and defined as hypertension control group. Thirty male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to operation group (bilateral carotid arteries were ligated), sham group and control group. All rats enrolled in the operation group were undergone a permanent ligation of bilateral carotid artery (2-VO). The memory function of rats was estimated by the mean escape latency of Morris water maze. The morphological changes of neuron cells in the frontal lobe, temporal lobes, hippocampus and thalami were observed with HE staining, while the changes of white matter around cerebral ventricles were checked with LFB staining, and the demyelination of nerve was calculated. Results The memory function of rats in SHR control group and Wistar operation group was decreased compared with that of the rats in sham group and control group (P0.05). Conclusions SHRs without intervention and Wistar rats undergone 2-VO can be used to reproduce the ideal VD model. Both chronic permanent hypoperfusion and hypertension may lead to the loss of neurons and myelin which may result in memory dysfunction. Hypoperfusion is even more harmful than hypertension. The present study suggests that loss of neurons and myelin may play a role in the VD.

Objective To explore the effect of TBL based on evidence-based medicine PICOS model in practice teaching of neurology. Methods Totally 47 medical undergraduates in our department were chosen and randomly divided into 2 groups during March 2016 to April 2016. 24 students in the trial group were taught with TBL based on PICOS, while other 23 students in the control group were only taught with conventional TBL method. After three times clinical practices, the test referring to disease pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, auxiliary examinations, diagnosis and treatments of related diseases was performed, and meanwhile, questionnaires were distributed to students in order to survey their satisfaction degree of teaching methods. All the evaluation results and scores of two groups were compared. Statistical data were analyzed by using t-test or Chi-square test with SPSS 17.0 software. Results The score of the theoretical test of trial group was significantly superior to the control group [(89.08±3.60) vs. (79.09±7.75), t=5.707, P=0.03 ]. Survey showed that in the experimental group , the number of students in the trial group who thought teaching method could help understand clinical thinking of neurology and could help integrate the theory into clinical practicewas significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion In the clinical teaching of neurology, the TBL based on PICOS model is more effective than conventional TBL method for medical undergraduates.

Objective To research the reasonable perfusion flow of cardiopulmonary bypass during aortic arch procedure of patients with acute type A aortic dissection. Methods Forty patients suffered from acute Stanford type A aortic dissection had been divided into two groups randomly.Group A named traditional perfusion flow group, group B named modified perfusion flow group.Monitoring cerebral blood flow and cerebral tissue oxygen during deep hyperthermia circulatory arrest and antegrade aelective cerebral perfusion procedure by transcranial doppler(TCD) and near-infrared spectroscopy(NIRS).The concentration of S100 protein and lactic acid was measured at six time point. Results Statistical difference of mean blood flow velocity of MCA had been found between two group 3 min after total flow reperfusion.TOI was more tban 60% during study in both of groups.S100 protein in group A was significantly higher than group B at T6,T7 and T8.Statistical difference of blood lactic concentration had been found between two groups,(4.88± 1.62) mmol/L in group A,(3.83± 1.48) mmol/L in group B,P < 0.05.Safe consciousness time between two groups was difference,(7.36± 2.86) h in group A and (5.27± 3.11) h in group B,P < 0.05.Conclusion Compared with the traditional perfusion flow, modified perfusion flow can provide sufficient cerebral perfusion and prevent the luxury perfusion.

Objective To analyze the impacts of early enteral nutrition (EN) and parenteral nutrition (PN) on the prognosis of acute pancreatitis.Method By searching relevant literature between January 1996 and August 2013 in Chinese and English databases including Wanfang,VIP,CNKI,PubMed,the Cochrane Library,CBM,and EMABSE,we compared the prognosis of acute pancreatitis after EN or PN in terms of casefatality rate, infections, multiple organ failure, and other complications.Result Compared with PN,early EN significantly reduced the case-fatality rate [OR =0.37,95% CI (0.23,0.58),P < 0.000 1],decreased the infection rate [OR =0.24,95% CI (0.15,0.39),P <0.000 01],shortened hospital stay [MD =-9.87,95% CI (-10.84,-8.89),P < 0.000 01],and reduced complications [OR =0.26,95% CI (0.12,0.58),P =0.001 0] in patients with acute pancreatitis, although the incident of multi-organ failure showed no significant difference [OR =0.35,95% CI (0.10,1.19),P =0.09].Conclusions For patients with acute pancreatitis, early EN is superior than PN in terms of case-fatality rate, infection rate, hospital stay, and complications. Therefore,it should be applied in such patients whenever condition allows.

Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2004;10(1):25-27
ObjectiveTo study the effect and mechanism of vagus nerve stimulation(VNS) on seizure in animal with epilepsy.MethodsSeizures of 34 rats and 8 rabbits were induced by Penicillin, Kainic acid(KA) and Strychnice respectively. Electrocorticographic(ECoG), electrical activition of hippocampal neurons and behaviour were observed to evidence the effects of left intermittent VNS .ResultsVNS could suppress seizures in animal models with epilepsy. There were significant changes in epileptiform ECoG, discharges of hippcampal neuron and behaviour. ConclusionSomatic seizure can be effectively inhibited by visceral afferent inputs through integration in cortical and hippocampal parts.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2006;14(3):419-426
The molecular characterization of self-antigens expressed by human malignancies that are capable of elicitation of anti-tumor immune responses in patients has been an active field in hematology, oncology, and tumor immunology. More than 2000 tumor antigens have been identified. These significant progresses have led to the renaissance of tumor immunology and studies on novel anti-tumor immunotherapies in lymphomas, other hematologic malignancies and tumors. However, despite of the progress in the identification of these self-tumor antigens, current antigen-specific immunotherapies for tumors are far less satisfactory than that expected, which reflects the urgent need to improve our understanding on the basic principles underlying the selection of these self-tumor antigens. In order to develop more effective antigen-specific anti-tumor immunotherapies and to monitor the responses to these immunotherapies in patients with lymphomas and other malignancies, many additional questions need to be addressed. In this brief review, the progress in the identification of tumor antigens in lymphomas and other malignancies was outlined and the new principles of self-tumor antigens and their significance for future immunotherapies to these malignancies were summarized.
