1.CELL DIVISION AND CYTOCHEMISTRY OF NERVE CELLS IN THE INJURED CORTICAL TISSUE Ⅰ. THE RELATION BETWEEN MITOSIS AND GLYCOGEN CONTENT OF THE NERVE CELLS
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1959;0(Z1):-
Portions of the cerebral cortices were removed under ether anesthesia and antiseptic conditions from the brains of 150 adult rats, weighing between 130—150 gm. and of the age between 4—5 months. The animals were killed by breaking their necks after 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10 and 15 days, and specimens of brain tissue were removed from the wounded area and fixed within one minute in Shabadash's fixing fluid. Paraffin sections of 6? in thickness were prepared as usual and stained by the periodic acid-Shift's (PAS) procedure. Pretreatment with diastase served as the control. Mitosis of the nerve cells was observed between 3—5 days after the operation in the undamaged brain tissue near the wound. In the locality where the mitosis of nerve cells was found, a large amount of glycogen granules appeared in the matrix between cells, the walls of blood vessels, neutrophils, phagocytes, neuroglia and some of the nerve cells. The glycogen granules decreased in amount after 5—10 days. On the 15th day the glycogen granules disappeared in most of the brain tissues except occasionally a few were found around the blood vessels and the superficial layer of the cerebrum which resembled the conditions in the normal brain. The simultaneous occurrence of the mitotic division of the nerve cells and the increase of glycogen content of the brain tissue near the wound leads the author to con- sider that glycogen may serve as the rich enery source for cell division.
2.Metabolites of sphingolipids as targets for cancer therapy

Bulletin of The Academy of Military Medical Sciences 2009;33(6):593-595
Sphingolipids are structural components of cellular membranes.Their metabolites, such as ceramide, sphingosine, and sphingosine 1-phosphate are important bioactive molecules, which act as the first or second messengers regulating various cellular activities, including proliferation, survival, migration and neovascularization in vitro and in vivo tumor models.Sphingosine kinases 1(SPK1) is a critical regulator of the balance between ceramide and S1P.Recent studies show that ceramide,SPK1 and S1P can regulate many of the hallmarks of cancer. These studies suggest that these metabolites can serve as novel targets for cancer therapy.

Objective To provide evidences and suggestions for educational innovation in military medical universities. Methods To carry out follow-up survey and evaluation in 85 graduates by using questionnaire survey and apply evaluation index system for quality follow-up among military clinical medicine masters. Results The average score evaluated by graduates is 78.39, the average score evaluated by hospitals is 86.00, The two average scores are normally distributed and have a positive correlativity (r=0.495). Conclusion The integrative quality of graduate students is good, but they should strengthen further in clinical capability, general quality and independent innovation.

Objective To investigate the feasibility and efficacy of ultrasound-guided interstitial implantation of radioactive ~(125)I seed for the treatment of unresectable pancreatic carcinoma. Methods Twenty-one patients with unresectable primary pancreatic carcinoma were treated with interstitial ~(125)I seed implantation under laparotomy. The radioactive activity and the number of implanted seed were determined according to preoperative CT scanning outcomes by using the Treatment Planning System(TPS).The matched peripheral dose(MPD) was 65~110 Gy.The radioactive activity ranged 0.4~0.5 mCi per seed.A total of 10~75 ~(125)I seed were implanted with an 18-gauge seed needle and the Mick applicator under direct visualization or ultrasound guidance.Gastroenterostomy or cholangiojejunostomy were performed in 8 patients before or after the implantation.Postoperative external radiation therapy combined with chemotherapy with gemcitabine was carried out in 2 patients. Stent placement was conducted in 2 patients preoperatively and postoperatively, respectively. Results Out of 15 patients with abdominal pain, complete and partial pain relief were obtained in 7 patients and 7 patients, respectively,at 1~3 postoperative days, the response rate being 93.3%(14/15). Except for 2 cases of loss of follow-up,there were 5 cases of complete response(CR),7 cases of partial response(PR),5 cases of progressive disease(PD),and 2 cases of no change(NC).Of 19 patients, the median survival time was 5 months and the 1-year survival rate was 26.3%.Chylous leakage occurred in 1 patient and seed dislodgement to the liver occurred in 3 patients. No pancreatic fistula or pancreatitis were encountered. Conclusions Radioactive ~(125)I seed implantation for the treatment of pancreatic carcinoma is safe, effective, and micro-invasive,being a good option of remedy.

Chinese Journal of Immunology 1986;0(04):-
S801 leukemic cell line established by our department was used as cells for interferon (IFN) induction and stimulating induction. S801 cell culture of concentration of 5-8x10~6 cells/ml was used for IFN induction and IFN titer of 3.55 Lg IU/ml was obtained by classical procedure. The IFN titer obtained S801 cell cultures after pretreatment with Ciwujia eleutherosides B. D and E or polysaccharide (PES) combined with priming procedure, then using Sendai Virus as an inducer was 10-20 times higher than that in cultures without any pretreatment. These Chinese medical herbs may be the ideal IFN helpinducers. This cell line may be applied for IFN production.

According to the existing Provisions for Drug Registration (SFDA Order No. 28), applications for new drugs of traditional Chinese medicine are divided into two parts: the applications for drug clinical trial and for drug production (including new drug certificate). It will last for about 10 years from the application for drug clinical trial to get approving, and it also remains many problems and the low probability to succeed. From the sight of pharmaceutical review, there are mainly two aspects of regulatory compliance and technical issues, mainly for changes without approval of the competent authorities of the country. For example, sample preparation and approval of clinical trial process are significant changes. Technical problems are reporting incomplete data or information submitted does not comply with the technical requirements for review, such as: production process validation does not provide information, the preparation of samples for clinical trials and field inspection, production information, or the information provided does not meet the technical requirements. This paper summarizes the frequently asked questions and to make recommendations to advise applicants concerned, timely detection of problems, avoid risk, improving the quality and efficiency of the application for registration.
