1.Acromegaly and Hypertension
Chinese Journal of Practical Internal Medicine 2001;0(10):-
Acromegaly is a rare clinical endocrine disorder related to systematic complications such as cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic disorders which determine its prognosis.Hypertension is the main complication resulting in the increased frequency of morbidity. The mechanism of hypertension in acromegaly is still no real consensus. In this review,we examine the prevalence and danger of hypertension in acromegalic patients and discuss the clinical and experimental mechanisms on the cardiovascular system in order to define the possible pathogenetic factors involved in the development and/or maintenance of high arterial blood pressure in acromegaly. The modern object of acromegalic treatment is normalization of morbidity and the treatment of pituitary tumor involve surgery, medication and radiation.Besides, blood pressure control is also demanded. The lowering of blood pressure observed in a proportion of hypertensive acromegalics, and the normalization of serum GH and IGF-1 level is of great importance.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2012;20(1):100-102
The aim of this study was to analyze the P53 aberrations in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and its prognostic value. Using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), the P53 gene was detected in paraffin-embedded tonsil tissues from 50 cases of DLBCL, while all the peripheral blood of patients was collected for detecting P53 protein in serum by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The relationships between P53 gene and protein expression and the prognosis of patients with DLBCL were analyzed. The results showed that 21 out of 50 cases had P53 gene deletion, serum P53 protein content was (176.25 ± 61.25) pg/ml, which was higher than that in normal controls. The Cox model likelihood ratio test found that abnormal P53 could be used as independent prognostic factor in DLBCL patients. The risk of death in patients with P53 gene deletion were more than that in patients with P53 gene normal. The patients with histology P53 gene deletion detected by FISH also had relatively high level of mutant P53 protein in serum. It is concluded that P53 aberrations in patients with DLBCL can be used as an independent prognostic factor, the early detection of P53 in DLBCL patients helps to determine their prognosis accurately.

BACKGROUND: Pearl has the tranquilizing effect, and it can be applied in the treatment of hypertension. However, there is little report on the prevention and cure effect and mechanism of hydrolyzed pearl liquid on hypertension. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of hydrolysis of Hepu pearl (hydrolyzed Nanzhu fluid) on the biological behavior and secretion of human microvascular endothelial cells. METHODS: Human microvascular endothelial cells were cultured and passaged. There were four groups, and the microvascular endothelial cells were incubated in the 200 μL culture medium containing nothing (control group), and 120, 60 and 30 mg/L hydrolysis of Nanzhu fluid. The cell proliferation and migration was detected by cell conuting kit-8 assay and Transwell assay respectively; the cell cycle distribution was tested by flow cytometry; the cell apoptosis was assayed by TUNEL method; the secretion of nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species was tested by nitrale reduetase and chemical fluorescence method, respectively. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Compared with the control group, hydrolysis of Nanzhu fluid significantly promoted the proliferation of microvascular endothelial cells in a manner-dependent manner (P < 0.05), suggesting the optimal concentration was 120 mg/L. Compared with the control group, the percentage of cells in S and G2 phase was significantly increased, and the percentage of cells in the G1 phase was significantly reduced in the hydrolysis of Nanzhu fluid group (P<0.05), indicating hydrolysis of Nanzhu fluid could promote cell cycle progression. Apoptotic cells with green-stained nucleus were invisible in both groups. The number of cell migration in the hydrolysis of Nanzhu fluid group was significantly more than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, there was a significant increase in the nitric oxide secretion, and a significant decrease in the production of reactive oxygen species in the hydrolysis of Nanzhu fluid group (P<0.05). To conclude, hydrolysis of Nanzhu fluid can promote the proliferation and migration of human microvascular endothelial cells in vitro, and has the function of promoting the secretion of nitric oxide and inhibiting reactive oxygen species secretion, implying its positive role in the protection of endothelial cell function.
