Objective To probe the nephron spring surgery for renal neoplasms.Methods Form April 1995 to October 2001,nephron sparing surgery was done for 18 cases of renal tumor,of which there were 3 with carcinoma and 15 with benign neoplasms.Among them,1 case was sole kidney;and 17 cases were a unilateral renal neoplasm and a normal opposite kidney.The diameter of the tumor ranged from 1 cm to 8 cm,with a mean of 3.5 cm.17 patients underwent partial nephrectomy and 1 tumor nucleation.Result All patients have been followed up for 2 to 72 months with a mean of 32 months,no surgical complication or local tumor recurrence has been found.Conclusion Nephron sparing surgery is safe and effective for the treatment of renal neoplasms.

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy for the treatment of ureteral calculus.Methods A total of 72 cases of ureteral calculus was treated with stone fragmentation from April to November 2004,by using the Lumenis VersaPulse PowerSuite 100W Holmium Laser system and the Circon ACMI Micro Ureteroscope.Under ureteroscopic visualization,the laser lithotrite was introduced to the stones,and holmium laser intraluminal stone fragmentation was carried out. Results The operation time was 14~83 min(mean,28 min).Three cases of fragmentation failure were due to upper ureteral stones migrating to the renal pelvis.The success rate of fragmentation on one session was 95.8%(69/72),which was 92.1%(35/38) for upper segment calculi and 100%(34/34) for middle-to-lower segment calculi.Intraoperative complications included 3 cases of ureteral perforation(4.2%),9 cases of stone migration(12.5%),and 72 cases of hematuria(100%).Postoperative complications included 45 cases of lumbago(62.5%),72 cases of hematuria(100%),and 5 cases of urinary tract infection(6.9%), without ureteral stricture.The kidney,ureter,and bladder(KUB) X-ray radiograph on the first postoperative day showed a stone-free rate of 86.1%(62/72),and the remaining residual stones were thoroughly expelled within following 2 weeks.The length of postoperative hospital stay was 2~5 d(mean,3 d).Re-examinations with B-ultrasonography or intravenous urography(IVU) at 3 months after operation in 46 cases revealed no ureteral stricture.Hydronephrosis subsided by 1.4?0.5 cm in 28 cases and completely disappeared in 21 cases.Conclusions Ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy for treating ureteral calculus offers satisfactory clinical effects and low complication rates.

VFP Database Management System was applied in the establishment of the first Chinese Medicine Leaf Morphological-venation Pattern (LMVP) Identification Database Management. It stores 46 species of Chinese medicine confusing LMVP identification criteria (characteristics) and its 10 kinds of basic information, as well as 117 families with a total of 358 species of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and plant references document when study-ing in the TCM identification and methodology. It can provide query identification criteria (features), literature, and data for statistical analysis. It is the technology platform for the implementation, promotion and improvement of LMVP identification method, and further development on LMVP data mining. This database has a simple structure, multiple functions and applications, convenient management and maintenance, which are suitable for teaching.

OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of Chinese herbal medicine 1023 Recipe in blocking cancer transformation of experimental oral precancerous lesion and its mechanism. METHODS: We treated the experimental oral precancerous lesion in hamster's cheek pouch using 1023 Recipe (consisting of Radix Astragali, Gynostemma Pentaphyllum, Rhizoma Chuanxiong and selenium-rich green tea) for 6 weeks, and observed its effect in blocking cancer transformation, detected 2 kinds of agglutinin receptors (receptors of wheat germ agglutinin and Ricinus communis agglutinin) in the mucosa of the hamster's cheek pouch. RESULTS: The rate of cancer transformation in 1023 Recipe treated group was lower than that in the control group without treatment (P<0.05). Agglutinin receptors in the two groups were different significantly. CONCLUSION: 1023 Recipe is effective in treating hyperplasia, and can prevent its cancer transformation. The mechanism may be that 1023 Recipe can induce precancerous lesions to differentiate into normal tissues.

Objective: To investigate the apoptosis of renal cells induced by tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) in diabetic rats and intervention of rapamycin. Methods: A total of 20 rats (Goto-Kakizaki rats) with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were randomly and equally divided into DM model group (DM group) and rapamycin treatment group (DMR group, received rapamycin treatment after DM model was established); another 10 Wistar male rats were regard as normal control group. Apoptosis of renal cells, expression levels of TNF-α and NF-κB and levels of blood lipids, blood glucose were measured in all groups after four weeks and eight weeks. Results: Four and eight weeks After model was established, compared with normal control group and DMR group, there were significant increase in renal cells apoptosis [RCA, four weeks: (0.217±0.031), (0.272±0.031) vs. (0.545±0.031), eight weeks: (0.358±0.031), (0.350±0.031) vs. (0.811±0.031)] and expressions of NF-κBp65 [OD: four weeks: (0.160±0.027), (0.131±0.027) vs. (0.411±0.027), eight weeks: (0.232±0.027), (0.275±0.027) vs. ( 0.634±0.027)] and TNF-α [OD: four weeks: (0.242±0.027), (0.275±0.027) vs. (0.617±0.027), eight weeks: (0.385±0.027), (0.342±0.027) vs. (0.912±0.027)] in DM group (P<0.01 all). Correlation analysis indicated that there were positive correlations between renal NF-κBp65 and TNF-α, among RCA and TNF-α, NF-κBp65 (r=0.956, 0.953, 0.886，P<0.01 all).

Objective:To evaluate the rationality of drug use in the children with rotavirus enteritis by the children drug utilization index ( cDUI) . Methods:A retrospective analysis was used to investigate the cDUI, DDDs and rationality of cimetidine, saccharomy-ces boulardiiand and ganciclovir used in 78 children with rotavirus enteritis. Results and Conclusion: The value order of DDDs was saccharomyces boulardii>cimetidine >ganciclovir. Moreover, the dosage of cimetidine and saccharomyces boulardii was relatively high, while that of ganciclovir was basically rational.

Objective To detect the correlation of serum p53 antibody and p53 protein expression of cancer tissue in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC), and to evaluate if the serum p53 antibody might reflect the mutation of p53 gene in CRC. Methods One hundred and thirty-two patients with CRC and 36 patients with non-tumor disease were included in this prospective study. The presence of serum p53 antibody was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Immunohistochemical analysis of tumors was performed to detect the accumulation of p53 protein. Objective To assess the correlation between FFPN22 C1858T polymorphism and rheumatoid arthritis(RA)in Han people in Xiamen area by TaqMan-MGB real-time PCR．Methods A casecontrol study was carried out in Xiamen Han population．Their blood samples(100 RAs and 100 controls respectively)were collected and the PTPN22 C1858T polymnrphism was tested by TaqMan-MGB real-time PCR．Results①A technique of TaqMan-MGB teal-time PCR was established to investigate PTPN22 C1858T polymorphism；② Onlv 1858 C allele was presented in all the RAs and controls，and no T allele was detected．Conclusion There is no PTPN22 1858T allele in Han people in Xiamen area．It is suggested that there's no association between PTPN22 C1858T polymorphism and RA．

Objective To evaluate the influence of successful revascularization by percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)on heart function of patients with heart dysfunction combined with chronic total occlusion(CTO).Methods The clinical data of 272 patients with heart dysfunction combined with CTO were analyzed.The patients were divided into PCI success group(246 cases)and PCI failure group(26 cases)respectively according to the results of PCI.Six months after PCI,the patients underwent cardiac ultrasound examination to compare the heart function between the two groups.Results Cardiac ultrasound examination was successfully performed in 229 patients in PCI success group and 24 patients in PCI failure group at 6 months after PCI.The left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)and left ventricular end-diastolic volume index(LVEDVI)showed no significant difference in PCI failure group at 6 months after PCI compared with that before PCI(P＞0.05).In PCI success group,LVEF and LVEDVI were significantly increased at 6 months after PCI compared with that before PCI and compared with that in PCI failure group at 6 months after PCI[(51±5)％ vs.(43±6)％ and(45±2)％,(77±13)ml/m2 vs.(86±12)ml/m2 and(86±10)ml/m2,P＜0.05].The cardiac functional grading in PCI failure group had no significant difference compared with that before PCI(P＞0.05),but in PCI success group it had significant difference compared with that before PCI and compared with that in PCI failure group at 6 months after PCI(P＜0.05).Conclusion Successful revascularization by PCI can improve heart function in patients with heart dysfunction combined with CTO.
