Aim To investigate the NIH3T3/STAT3CA cell proliferation ability and the STAT3 transcriptional activity affected by PTPMeg2 . Methods MTT assay and xenograft nude mice model were used to investigate the NIH3 T3/STAT3 CA cell proliferation inhibited by PTPMeg2 in vitro and in vivo. Co-immunoprecipitation assay was used to measure the interaction between PT-PMeg2 and STAT3CA. STAT3 transcriptional activity was measured by dual-luciferase assay. Results The NIH3 T3/STAT3 CA cell proliferation ability was signifi-cantly inhibited by PTPMeg2 in vitro and in vivo com-pared with the control group ( P <0.05 ) . The tran-scriptional activity was increased by PTPMeg2 , but not the PTPMeg2 mutant (PTPMeg2C515S) and the ShPT-PMeg2 . Conclusion PTPMeg2 plays a role in inhibi-ting the proliferation ability of NIH3 T3/STAT3 CA cells through inhibiting the STAT3 transcriptional activity.

Objective To search for a good solution for aesthetic beard reconstruction and to explore the effect of the single-hair grafting in beard reconstruction. Methods Under the local anesthesia, a scalp strip (length range from 5~7 cm, width range from 1.0~1.5 cm) was harvested from the back of the head and then was divided into a series of single-hair micrografts. After the slits were made, the grafts were implanted into the holes, parallel to the original beard directions. The donor sites were directly closed. With this method, 18 sparse beard patients and 3 patients with upper lip scars were treated. Results The grafted hairs grew nearly in the direction of normal beard, which achieved 90 %~95 % survival in recipient areas. The patients were satisfied with the results, in which 19 cases received only 1 operation and 2 cases received another repeated operation. Conclusion Beard reconstruction by single-hair grafting technique is a good, safe and effective method.

Objective To investigate periprosthetic femoral shaft remodeling with tapered femoral stems after total hip arthroplasty (THA) for elderly patients and evaluate the mid-term clinical outcomes. Methods The study involved 30 elderly (70-90 years) patients (34 hips) treated with femoral shaft remodeling with tapered stems after THA from January 2003 to January 2005. The postoperative X-ray images were collected and perioperative periprosthetic bone mineral density was analyzed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). The Harris score was applied in follow-up observation, and Kaplan-Meier method was used to evaluate the working life of the femoral prosthesis. Results Four patients were died of lung cancer. The remaining 26 patients ( 30 hips) were followed up for 5-7 years ( mean, six years). The postoperative X-ray measurements showed that total hip prosthesis subsidences were less than 1.5 mm within one year in 12 hips, with no prosthesis loosening observed. Bone proliferations were seen in Gruen zones 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11 and 12, and bone resorptions were seen in zones l and 7. DEXA showed that bone mineral density was increased in Gruen zones 2,3,4 and 5, but decreased mainly in Gruen zones 1,6 and 7. The increase of bone mineral density in zones 2 and 5 was faster compared to other sites six months after the operation ( P < 0.05 ) and the change of bone mineral density was prone to be stable in two years ( P > 0.05 ). Within one year after initial implantation, periprosthetic bone mineral density was significantly decreased ( P < 0.05 ). Two years after the operation, rare changes of periprosthetic bone mineral density were found ( P > 0.05 ), with only regional redistribution of bone mass from the proximal to the distal femur. The Harris score of hip joint function was increased from preoperative 38.56 ± 8.21 to 86.32 ± 6. 01 at the final follow-up. The 6-year survival rate of the prosthesis was 100%. Conclusion Femoral shaft remodeling with tapered stems after total hip arthroplasty for the elderly patients shows good periprosthetic bone remodeling and satisfactory mid-term clinical results.

Objective:
To understand literacy development of school-aged children of grade 2-5 and its influencing factors in Guangzhou, and to provide a reference for the reform of the teaching of Chinese subject.
Methods:
By using cluster sampling method, 1 661 school-age children from grade 2 to grade 5 from 5 primary schools in Guangzhou were selected. The self-designed questionnaire was used to obtain demographic data of the participants. The Primary School Literacy Assessment Scale and the Pupil Rating Scale Revised Screening for Learning Disabilities was used to evaluate the literacy and the cognitive characteristics of participants.
Results:
The average literacy of children of grade 2 to grade 5 in Guangzhou was as follows: grade 2 was (1 159±295), grade 3 was (1 919±394), grade 4 was (2 599±365), grade 5 was (2 947±303), higher than the norm(P<0.01). The average literacy of grade 2 students was lower than the national curriculum requirements while students of grade 3 to grade 5 met the requirements. Univariate analysis found differences in literacy among school-age children based on gender, reading experience before age 6, and parental education background (P<0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that grade (β=607.04), preschool reading experience (β=109.89), father’s education (β=27.14), language factor (β=27.21), social behavior (β=16.03) was positively correlated with literacy in boys (P<0.05). Grade (β=603.53), auditory comprehension and memory (β=29.39), language factor (β=16.74) was positively correlated with the literacy of girls (P<0.05), while time and orientation judgments were negatively correlated with the literacy of both boys (β=-18.95) and girls (β=-21.93) (P<0.05).
Conclusion
The literacy level of school-age children in grade 2 to 5 in Guangzhou has reached the national literacy requirements with students in grade 2 being relatively lower. Literacy is related to grade, preschool reading experience, father’s education, and child’s cognitive characteristics. Factors affecting literacy in boys and girls are different. Literacy education should vary according to gender.

In previous study, the 150-ku oxygen-regulated protein(ORP150) was identified as a candidate glycoprotein related to hepatocellular carcinoma. In order to further validate the expression level of ORP150 in hepatocellular carcinoma, protein expression was determined by Western blot and cell immunochemistry, and messenger RNA(mRNA) expression was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The effect of ORP150 on apoptosis and invasive potential of hepatocellular carcinoma cells was evaluated using the small interference RNA(siRNA) technique. Both the protein and mRNA expression levels of ORP150 were significantly upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines compared with a non-tumor human liver cell line. After transfection with the specific siRNA of ORP150, significantly greater apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells was induced compared with untransfected cells. However, no significant effect on invasive potential was found.Overexpression of ORP150 was associated with hepatocellular carcinoma, and ORP150 might promote the proliferation of hepatocellular carcinoma cells by inhibiting apoptosis.ORP150 could be a potential therapeutic target for hepatocellular carcinoma.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2020;44(5):384-389
To satisfy the daily demand of skin condition maintenance, make non-invasive real-time detection, and get proper quantitative evaluation of skin viscoelasticity parameters at the same time, a portable non-invasive detection system to acquire real-time skin tissue viscoelasticity is developed. The system relies mainly on a single-degree-of-freedom forced vibration model, with spring-damp-mass, and on dynamic micro indentation method. The experiment is conducted on two kinds of springs, and on pigskin tissues as well, the system's suitability, accuracy and stability are confirmed. The skin viscoelasticity detection in vivo is also carried out on 20 subjects with different ages, the differences of skin viscoelasticity in various parts of the body are investigated, and the correlations between age and skin viscoelasticity are clarified.
