Objective To study the effects of Qingzao Runfei Huazhuo Xingxue decoction (QRHXD) on inflammatory reaction and histopathology in mice with PM2.5-induced pulmonary injury, and to approach the possible mechanism of prevention and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine on lung injury induced by haze. Methods Fifty healthy male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into five groups (n = 10): namely control, PM2.5, PM2.5+ low-, moderate-, and high-dose groups. The PM2.5 suspensions at a dosage of 40 mg/kg was respectively given to mice by the nasal instillation for reproduction of mouse model of lung injury induced by PM2.5, and the mice in control group were given the same volume of normal saline. The mice in PM2.5+ low-, moderate-, and high-dose QRHXD groups were given 15, 25, 50 mL·kg-1·d-1 QRHXD by oral perfusion daily for consecutive 21 days at the next day of model reproduction (the QRHXD included: Pear 75 g,Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae 10 g, Radix Stemonae 8 g,Rhizoma Pinelliae 8 g,Radix Platycodi 6 g, Aster 10 g, Almond 5 g, Lily 6 g, Rhodiola 4 g, Lotus 3 g,Fructrs Liquidambaris 6 g,Radix Paeoniae Rubra 5 g, Semen Cassiae 6 g). The mice in control and PM2.5 groups were given equivalent volume of normal saline respectively. After treatment for 21 days, the mice were sacrificed, and the left lung was harvested for bronchoalveolar lavage, and the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was collected for determination of levels of acid phosphatase (ACP), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), and albumin (ALB). The right lung was harvested for histopathology observation under light microscope using hematoxylin and eosine (HE) staining. Results After intranasal instillation of PM2.5 suspension, the levels of ACP, AKP, LDH, and ALB in PM2.5 group were significantly higher than those in control group [ACP (U/L): 3.9±0.4 vs. 1.7±0.3, AKP (U/L): 9.0±1.5 vs. 4.8±0.3, LDH (U/L): 416.7±44.4 vs. 112.5±20.3, ALB (mg/L): 198.7±32.4 vs. 65.8±21.3, all P < 0.05]. Under light microscope, the PM2.5 particles were collected, the alveolar septa were thickened, and the inflammatory cells in the alveolar cavity and pulmonary interstitium were found. On the contrary, after administration of QRHXD, a significant reduction of biochemical indexes was found, which showed a dose-dependent manner. The parameters of PM2.5+ high-dose QRHXD group were significantly lower than those in PM2.5 group [ACP (U/L): 2.1±0.8 vs. 3.9±0.4, AKP (U/L): 5.3±1.4 vs. 9.0±1.5, LDH (U/L): 146.6±29.8 vs. 416.7±44.4, ALB (mg/L): 88.5±26.7 vs. 198.7±32.4, all P < 0.05]. At the same time, the pathological changes in lung tissue were better with the increase of the dose. Conclusions QRHXD can reduce the pulmonary inflammatory response and tissue damage caused by PM2.5, with the increase concentration of Chinese medicine, and the effect is more obvious. This may be related to the immune response of the human body to regulate inflammatory mediators, which provide basis for the treatment of pulmonary injury induced by PM2.5.

Objective To investigate the low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR)gene and apolipoprotein (Apo) B gene mutation in a Chinese family with familial hypercholesterolemia(FH) and give the kindrids clinical check-ups. Methods After physical examination, the kindreds underwent ECG and ultrasound checks. Blood samples were tested for lipid profiles. The promoter and all eighteen exons of LDLR gene were investigated by using PCR and agarose gel electrophoresis in combination with DNA sequence analysis. The results were compared with the normal sequences in GenBank and FH database ( www. ucl. ac. uk/fh ) to find mutations. In addition, the apolipoprotein B100 gene for known mutations (R3500Q,R3531C,R3501W and R3480W)that cause familial defective ApoB100 (FDB)was also tested using the same method. Results A novel homozygous G > A mutation at the 1581 bp of exon 10 was detected in the proband and his siblings. It caused a substitution of amimo acid Glu to Gly at codon 496. A novel heterozygous G >A mutation at the 1581 bp of exon 10 was detected in his parents. No mutations of R3500Q,R3531C,R3501W and R3480W of ApoB100 were observed. ECGs were normal. Atherosclerosis were found in all family members by ultrasound checks. Conclusions The homozygous G > A mutation at the 1581 bp of exon 10 was first determined in our country. The change of amino acid Glu to Gly is responsible for FH of the family. The type of the gene mutation was not found in the FH database( www. ucl.ac. uk/ih). It's a new type of LDLR mutation.

Objective To study the influence of Qingzao Runfei Huazhuo Xingxue decoction on pulmonary tissue and lung function in mouse model of lung injury induced by PM2.5, and to provide an idea of clinical prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases induced by PM2.5. Methods Totally 30 clean level male ICR mice were randomly divided into three groups: normal control group, model group and Qingzao Runfei Huazhuo Xingxue decoction intervention group, with 10 mice in each group. Model of PM2.5-induced respiratory disease in mice was reproduced by instilling nasal cavity drip PM2.5 suspension 40 mg/kg once a day for 6 weeks. In the treatment group, the mice were fed with the Qingzao Runfei Huazhuo Xingxue decoction twice a day from the 4th week of instilling PM2.5 suspension until the end of experiment. In the normal control group, the mice were fed as usual. At the end of the experiment, the total protein content in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), and lung wet/dry weight (W/D) ratio was determined. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was used to observe the histopathological changes in lung tissue under light microscope. The inflammatory mediators levels in lung tissue were determined by antibody-sandwich enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results Respiratory system damage model was successfully reproduced by dripping of PM2.5 suspension in nasal cavity. Compared with normal control group, inflammatory changes and inflammatory cell infiltration in model group were significant, and lung W/D ratio (4.71±0.33 vs. 3.13±0.12), total protein content in BALF (mg/L: 363.98±18.24 vs. 82.13±12.78), tumor necrosis factor-α [TNF-α (ng/L): 185.72±0.23 vs. 31.03±0.16], interleukin-8 [IL-8 (ng/L): 531.85±37.83 vs. 72.64±16.72], and leukotriene B4 [LTB4 (ng/L): 931.74±48.64 vs. 483.81±41.74] in lung tissue were significantly increased (all P < 0.05). Compared with the model group, the inflammatory changes of lung tissue in Qingzao Runfei Huazhuo Xingxue decoction intervention group were significantly reduced, lung W/D ratio (3.92±0.41 vs. 4.71±0.33), total protein content in BALF (mg/L: 213.21±19.62 vs. 363.98±18.24), TNF-α (ng/L: 124.15±0.27 vs. 185.72±0.23), IL-8 (ng/L: 238.42±35.82 vs. 531.85±37.83) and LTB4 (ng/L: 582.85±31.00 vs. 931.74±48.64) levels in lung tissue in Qingzao Runfei Huazhuo Xingxue decoction intervention group were significantly decreased (all P < 0.05). Conclusion Qingzao Runfei Huazhuo Xingxue decoction can improve PM2.5-induced damage and pathological inflammatory changes in lung tissue, which provided some new ideas for the treatment of PM2.5-induced respiratory diseases.

OBJECTIVETo study the incidence of leukocytosis and retinoic acid (RA) syndrome in newly diagnosed and relapsed acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) patients treated with arsenic trioxide (ATO).
METHODSThirty patients with newly diagnosed or relapsed APL received ATO for remission induction at the dose of 10 mg/d. RA syndrome was defined when patient was with one or more of the following signs or symptoms: fever, dyspnea, serous cavity effusion, muscular pain, pulmonary infiltration, weight gain, or pulmonary infiltration on chest X-ray.
RESULTSTwenty-three (77% ) patients achieved complete remission, mean time to remission was 37.1 days. Leukocytosis was observed in 14 (47%) patients, mean time to leukocytosis was 12.7 days, median baseline leukocyte count for patients with leukocytosis was 3.1 x 10(9)/L, which was higher than that for patients who did not develop leukocytosis (2.6 x 10(9)/L, z = -2.635, P = 0.008). No other cytotoxic therapy was administered, and the leukocytosis resolved in all cases. The RA syndrome was observed in 9 (30%) patients, mean time to diagnose of RA syndrome was 13.9 days, median baseline leukocyte count for patients with RA syndrome was 3.6 x 10(9)/L, which was higher than that for patients who did not develop RA syndrome (2.6 x 10(9)/L, z = -1.909, P = 0.046). No patient died of RA syndrome.
CONCLUSIONLeukocytosis and RA syndrome are associated with ATO and baseline leukocyte count respectively, and there is distinct link between leukocytosis and RA syndrome.

Chinese Journal of Modern Nursing 2024;30(28):3832-3838
Objective:To explore the types of pre-diagnosis symptom clusters in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and identify bridge symptoms between symptom clusters. Methods:From May to October 2023, convenience sampling was used to select 243 ACS patients who visited Shanxi Provincial People's Hospital as participants. The General Information Questionnaire and Chinese version of the McSweeney Acute and Prodromal Myocardial Infarction Symptoms Survey were used for the survey. Exploratory factors were used to analyze symptom clusters, while network analysis was used to identify bridge symptoms between symptom clusters. A total of 243 questionnaires were distributed, and 230 valid questionnaires were collected, with a valid response rate of 94.7% (230/243) .Results:Before diagnosis, ACS patients had four symptom clusters, namely typical chest symptom cluster, typical shoulder and back symptom cluster, fatigue related symptom cluster, and cardiopulmonary symptom cluster. In symptom network analysis, fatigue and anxiety were bridge symptoms between symptom clusters, with fatigue having the highest expected impact coefficient ( rbei=0.387 3), followed by close centrality ( rbc=0.024 2). The bridge mediation ( rbb=35.000) and close centrality ( rbc=0.024 8) of anxiety were the highest. Conclusions:Fatigue and anxiety are bridge symptoms in ACS patients, connecting different symptom clusters. Identifying bridge symptoms is beneficial for improving the efficiency and accuracy of symptom management. Research needs to consider patient heterogeneity and conduct subgroup studies on symptom clusters to further explore the practical significance of core and bridge symptoms in clinical practice.
8.Correlation between nutritional status and depressive symptoms in middle school students
Chinese Journal of School Health 2023;44(5):649-653
Objective:
To explore the correlation between different nutritional status and depressive symptoms among adolescents, so as to provide a theoretical basis for targeted improvement of nutritional status and depressive symptoms in adolescents.
Methods:
A total of 8 102 adolescents aged 12-17 years in Shanghai, Urumqi, Changsha and Kunming were selected by random cluster sampling. Depressive symptoms were assessed by the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale(CES-D). Height and weight were measured. Kruskal Wallis H test, Chi square test and ordinal Logistic regression were used to analyze the relationship between nutritional status and depressive symptoms in adolescents.
Results:
The overall detection rate of depressive symptoms in adolescents was 25.6%, with girls (30.1%) higher than that of boys (21.1%) ( χ 2=87.60, P <0.01). There were statistically significant differences in the scores of depressive symptoms among girls with different nutritional status ( Z =8.34, P <0.05). The detectable rate of depressive symptoms increased with BMI among girls( χ 2 trend =6.04, P <0.05). After controlling for confounding factors, ordinal Logistic regression showed that the obese girls had higher risks in depressive symptoms detection compared with normal weight girls ( OR=1.45, 95%CI=1.10-1.91, P <0.05).
Conclusion
The nutritional status of girls is better than boys, but the prevalence of depressive symptoms is higher than boys. The risk of depressive symptoms in girls increases with BMI.
9.Correlation analysis between non suicidal self injury behavior and depressive symptoms in adolescents
Chinese Journal of School Health 2023;44(5):659-663
Objective:
To explore the correlation between non suicidal self injury(NSSI) behaviors and depressive symptoms in adolescents and to provide a theoretical basis for improvement of adolescent physical and mental health.
Methods:
A total of 8 102 adolescents aged 12-17 years were selected by random cluster sampling method in Shanghai, Urumqi, Changsha and Kunming, using the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) and the Adolescent Non Suicidal Self Injurious Behavior Assessment Questionnaire. Depressive symptoms and the occurrence of NSSI behaviors were assessed. The relationship between NSSI behaviors and depressive symptoms was analyzed using Chi square test, one way analysis and Logistic regression analysis.
Results:
The overall detection rate of NSSI in adolescents, 24.6%, with a significantly lower detection rate in boys (23.1%) than in girls (26.2%) ( χ 2=10.97, P <0.05), and 24.7%, 24.6% in the middle school and high school segments, respectively, but the difference was not statistically significant ( χ 2=0.01, P >0.05). The overall detection rate of adolescent depressive symptoms was 49.7 % in the group with NSSI and 17.7% in the group without NSSI, with statistically significant differences ( χ 2=808.80, P < 0.01 ). The detection rates of adolescent depressive symptoms in the group with NSSI (male:44.0%, female:54.7%, middle school:49.6%, high school:49.8%) and the group without NSSI (male:14.2%, female:21.4%, middle school:14.3%, high school: 21.0 %) were statistically significant by sex and age groups ( χ 2=385.58, 412.44, 520.60, 313.78, P <0.01). Logistic regression models, after adjusting for gender and age, the risk for depressive symptoms was 2.65 times (95% CI =2.27-3.09) and 7.28 times (95% CI = 6.34- 8.37) more frequently in adolescents with episodic self injurious behavior and frequent self injurious behavior, respectively, compared to those without self injurious behavior. The association between NSSI status and depressive symptoms did not show sex differences ( P >0.05).
Conclusion
Adolescent NSSI behavior is positively associated with depressive symptoms, the attention should be paid to adolescent physical and mental health to reduce the occurrence of NSSI.
