Objective:To analyze the characteristics of accidental injury death among Chinese population from 2005 to 2021 and predict its trends from 2022 to 2031.Methods:Based on the China Death Surveillance Database, the accidental injury death data of Chinese population from 2005 to 2021 were collected. The overall accidental injury death of Chinese population during the period was calculated, such as crude mortality rate and standardized mortality rate. A Joinpoint regression model was applied to calculate the standardized mortality rate including the annual percentage change (APC) and average annual percentage change (AAPC) of accidental injury death among Chinese population of different genders, in urban and rural areas, age groups and eastern, central and western regions from 2005 to 2021. The standardized mortality rate of accidental injuries among Chinese population from 2022 to 2031 was predicted by using the exponential smoothing method. Results:From 2005 to 2021, the crude mortality rate of accidental injury among Chinese population decreased from 45.96/100 000 in 2005 to 39.97/100 000 in 2021, with the standardized mortality rate decreasing from 50.20/100 000 in 2005 to 30.74/100 000 in 2021, which showed a monotonous downward trend (APC=AAPC=-2.63, P<0.01). From 2005 to 2021, the standardized mortality rate of accidental injury in males was higher than that in females, showing a downward trend in both males and females (AAPC male=-2.85, AAPC female=-2.17, P<0.01) . From 2005 to 2021, the standardized mortality rate of accidental injury in rural population was higher than that in urban population, showing a downward trend in both urban and rural population (AAPC city=-2.39, P<0.01; AAPC rural=-2.58, P<0.05). From 2005 to 2021, the standardized mortality rate of accidental injury in Chinese population mainly fell in the age group of 15-44 years. From 2005 to 2021, the standardized mortality rate of accidental injury in the western region was higher than that in the eastern and central regions and there was an inflection point from up to down in the standardized mortality rate of accidental injury in the western and central regions in 2011. As the forecasting results showed, the standardized mortality rate of accidental injury among Chinese population would be reduced from 30.26/100, 000 to 20.93/100, 000 from 2022 to 2031. Conclusions:The standardized mortality rate of accidental injury among Chinese population from 2005 to 2021 shows a downward trend. Moreover, the male, rural, young and middle-aged population and population in the western region are still the key groups needing prevention of accidental injuries. There will also be a downward trend in the standardized mortality rate of accidental injuries in Chinese population from 2022 to 2031.

Objective:To analyze the mortality of accidental falls among the elderly in China from 2004 to 2019 and predict the standardized mortality from 2020 to 2024, so as to provide scientific evidence for formulating strategies to prevent accidental falls among the elderly. Methods:The death data of accidental falls of the elderly in China from 2004 to 2019 were collected from the China Death Cause Monitoring Data Set, and the total number of deaths, mortality rate and standardized mortality rate in the elderly from 2004 to 2019 and those data among them of different genders, residences and age groups were calculated. Joinpoint 4.8.0.1 statistical software was used to calculate the annual percent change (APC) and average annual percent change (AAPC) of standardized mortality. The Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average Model (ARIMA) was used to predict the standardized mortality rate of accidental falls among the elderly in China from 2020 to 2024. Results:The number of deaths related to accidental falls among the elderly in China was increased from 2 908 in 2004 to 23 709 in 2019. The mortality rate was increased from 51.89/100 000 in 2004 to 67.74/100 000 in 2019. The standardized mortality rate of accidental falls showed an overall upward trend from 2004 to 2019 (AAPC=1.65, P>0.05), including an upward trend from 2004 to 2010 (APC=1.66, P>0.05), a downward trend from 2010 to 2013 (APC=-9.67, P>0.05), and another upward trend from 2013 to 2019 (APC=7.83, P<0.01). The number of death and mortality rate related to accidental falls in Chinese elderly males and females both showed upward trends from 2004 to 2019, and the standardized mortality rate also showed upward trends from 2004 to 2019 (AAPC males=2.19, AAPC females=0.29, all P>0.05). The standardized mortality rate in males was generally higher than that in females, with that of males showing an upward trend from 2013 to 2019 (APC=7.36, P<0.05) and that of female showing an upward trend from 2014 to2019 (APC=6.92, P>0.05). The number of deaths and mortality rate among the elderly living in rural and urban areas both showed upward trends from 2004 to 2019, and the standardized mortality rate also showed an upward trend from 2004 to 2019 (AAPC rural = 1.71, AAPC urban =1.00, all P>0.05). The standardized mortality rate among the elderly living in rural areas was generally higher than that in urban areas. The rural and urban elderly both showed upward trends from 2013 to 2019 (APC rural = 8.24, APC urban =6.11, all P<0.05). The number of death and mortality rate of different age groups all showed upward trends from 2004 to 2019. The standardized mortality rates of the elderly aged 65-74 years and ≥85 years also showed upward trends from 2004 to 2019 (AAPC 65-74 years=0.38, AAPC ≥ 85 years=4.09, all P>0.05). The standardized mortality rate of the elderly aged 75-84 years showed a downward trend from 2004 to 2019 (AAPC=-0.10, P>0.05), and that of the elderly aged 65-74 years showed an upward trend from 2010 to 2019 (APC=5.35, P<0.05). The standardized mortality rate of the elderly aged 75-84 years and ≥85 years showed upward trends from 2013 to 2019 (APC 75-84 years=6.49, APC ≥ 85 years=10.47, all P<0.05). The ARIMA prediction results showed that the overall standardized mortality rates of accidental falls in the elderly in China from 2020 to 2024 were 69.11/100 000, 72.33/100 000, 74.41/100 000, 76.34/100 000, and 76.48/100 000, respectively, showing a slow upward trend. Conclusions:The accidental fall-related mortality among the elderly in China showed an overall upward trend from 2004 to 2019, and the standardized mortality rate from 2020 to 2024 also shows an upward trend. The elderly who are male in gender, live in rural areas, or at age of ≥85 years are the key population for prevention and control of accidental fall. Active and effective measures should be taken to reduce accidental falls in the elderly so as to contribute to active and healthy aging.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Traditional Medical Formulae 2024;30(21):70-77
ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of Dendrobium officinale polysaccharides (DOP) in reversing carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced hepatic fibrosis (HF) in rats via the Notch signaling pathway and evaluate the therapeutic effect of DOP by ultrasound elastography. MethodFifty-six male SD rats were randomized into normal, model, colchicine (1×10-4 g·kg-1), Fuzheng Huayu powder (0.45 g·kg-1), and low-, medium-, and high-dose (0.05, 0.1, 0.2 g·kg-1) DOP groups (n=8). The rats in the model group and each treatment group were injected subcutaneously with a mixture of CCl4-olive oil (2∶3) once every 3 days for 10 weeks. After 6 weeks of modelling, the rats were administrated with corresponding drugs once a day for 4 weeks. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining and Masson staining were employed to observe the pathomorphological changes of the liver tissue. An automatic biochemical analyzer was used to measure the serum levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and total bile acids (TBA). Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was employed to measure the serum levels of hyaluronic acid (HA), laminin (LN), type Ⅲ precollagen (PC-Ⅲ), and type Ⅳ collagen (Col-Ⅳ). The mRNA and protein levels of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), Notch1, Jagged1, and Hes1 in the liver tissue were determined by Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR) and Western blot, respectively. The Young's modulus (YM) of the rat liver was measured by acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) elastography before and after treatment. Then, the correlations of YM with the serum levels of HA, LN, PC-Ⅲ, and Col-Ⅳ and the protein levels of α-SMA and Notch1 signaling pathway-related factors in the liver tissue were analyzed. ResultCompared with the normal group, the model group showed disordered arrangement of liver cell cords, obvious infiltration of inflammatory cells, appearance of a large number of fat vacuoles, and fibrous proliferation, elevated levels of ALT, AST, TBA, ALP, HA, LN, PC-Ⅲ, and Col-Ⅳ in the serum, and up-regulated mRNA and protein levels of α-SMA, Notch1, Jagged1, and Hes1 in the liver tissue (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, drug interventions alleviated the pseudolobule formation and the collagen deposition in confluent areas. Except that the serum level of ALT in the low-dose DOP group had no significant changes, drug interventions, especially high-dose DOP, lowered the levels of ALT, AST, TBA, ALP, HA, LN, PC-Ⅲ, and Col-Ⅳ in the serum and down-regulated the mRNA and protein levels of α-SMA, Notch1, Jagged1, and Hes1 in the liver tissue (P<0.05, P<0.01). The results of ARFI and correlation analysis showed that the YM of the liver tissue was increased in the model group (P<0.01) compared with that in the normal group, Compared with the model group, drug interventions decreased YM (P<0.01). YM was positively correlated with the expression levels of HA, LN, PC-Ⅲ, α-SMA, Notch1, Jagged1, and Hes1s (r=0.754, 0.734, 0.801, 0.885, 0.896, 0.757, and 0.800, respectively, P<0.01), and it had a moderate correlation with Col-Ⅳ (r=0.688, P<0.01). ConclusionDOP can reverse HF by down-regulating the Notch1/Jagged1/Hes1 signaling pathway. YM can be used as an indicator in the assessment of the efficacy of DOP against HF.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2022;47(12):1711-1720
OBJECTIVES:
Cervical cancer is the most common malignant tumor in the female reproductive system worldwide. The recurrence rate for the treated cervical cancer patients is high, which seriously threatens women's lives and health. At present, the risk prediction study of cervical cancer has not been reported. Based on the influencing factors of cervical cancer recurrence, we aim to establish a risk prediction model of cervical cancer recurrence to provide a scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of cervical cancer recurrence.
METHODS:
A total of 4 358 cervical cancer patients admitted to the Hunan Cancer Hospital from January 1992 to December 2005 were selected as research subjects, and the recurrence of cervical cancer patients after treatment was followed up. Univariate analysis was used to analyze the possible influencing factors. Variables that were significant in univariate analysis or those that were not significant in univariate analysis but may be considered significant were included in multivariate Cox regression analysis to establish a cervical cancer recurrence risk prediction model. Line graphs was used to show the model and it was evaluated by using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration plots, and decision curve analysis.
RESULTS:
Univariate analysis showed that the recurrence rates of cervical cancer patients with different age, age of menarche, parity, miscarriage, clinical stage, and treatment method were significantly different (all P<0.05). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that RR=-0.489×(age≥55 years old)+0.481×(age at menarche >15 years old)+0.459×(number of miscarriages≥3)+0.416×(clinical stage II)+0.613×(clinical stage III/IV)+0.366×(the treatment method was surgery + chemotherapy) + 0.015×(the treatment method was chemotherapy alone). The area under the ROC curve (AUC) of the Cox risk prediction model for cervical cancer recurrence constructed was 0.736 (95% CI 0.684 to 0.789), the best prediction threshold was 0.857, the sensitivity was 0.576, and the specificity was 0.810. The accuracy of the Cox risk model constructed by this model was good. From the clinical decision curve, the net benefit value was high and the validity was good.
CONCLUSIONS
Patient age, age at menarche, miscarriages, clinical stages, and treatment methods are independent factors affecting cervical cancer recurrence. The Cox proportional hazards prediction model for cervical cancer recurrence constructed in this study can be better used for predicting the risk of cervical cancer recurrence.

Journal of Sun Yat-sen University(Medical Sciences) 2024;45(1):76-84
ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of Dendrobium officinale polysaccharide (DOP)on CCl4-induced hepatic fibrosis(HF)and its mechanism. MethodsA total of 56 male SD rats were randomly divided into seven groups: normal group(NG),model group(MG),colchicine group(CG, 0.1 mg/kg), Fuzheng Huayu group(FG, 0.45 g/kg),low-dose DOP group(LDG, 0.05 g/kg),middle-dose DOP group(MDG, 0.1 g/kg)and high-dose DOP group(HDG,0.2 g/kg),with 8 rats in each group. HF rat model was established by subcutaneous injection with 40% CCl4 olive oil mixture, every 3-day for 10 weeks. At the end of the sixth week, the drug groups were treated with colchicine, Fuzheng Huayu and DOP solution by gavage respectively, once a day for 4 weeks. NG and MG groups were similarly handled with an equal amount of 0.9 % normal saline. Liver histopathology was detected using hematoxylin-eosin (HE), Masson and Sirius red staining; blood biochemistry was tested for liver function and four indicators of HF; RT-qPCR and Western Blot were used to measure the expression of α-SMA, Col-I, E-cadherin, and ZEB1 genes and proteins in the liver tissues of rats, respectively. ResultsHE, Masson, and Sirius red staining showed that the liver tissue of MG rats had typical pathologic features of HF, and the degree of HF was alleviated in LDG, MDG, and HDG rats, respectively. Liver function test results showed that the serum AST, TBIL, and AKP levels were significantly lower in LDG, MDG, and HDG, compared with those of the MG (P < 0.05 or < 0.01). Meanwhile, ALT levels in serum deceased remarkably except in LDG (P < 0.05 or < 0.01). The four results of HF showed that the serum HA, LN, PC-Ⅲ, and COL-Ⅳ levels in LDG, MDG, and HDG rats were significantly decreased compared with those of the MG (P < 0.05 or < 0.01). The relative expressions of α-SMA, COL-I, and ZEB1 genes and proteins were significantly decreased in the liver tissues of LDG, MDG, and HDG (P < 0.05 or < 0.01), and the relative expression of E-cadherin gene and protein increased (P < 0.05 or < 0.01). In addition, the expressions of HA, α-SMA, COL-I, ZEB1 and E-cadherin were dependent on the dose of DOP. ConclusionDOP alleviated the degree of CCl4 induced HF in rats by inhibiting the epithelial-mesenchymal transition in liver tissue.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the change trends of sperm quality with seasonal variations among the volunteers of sperm donors in Beijing area, as well as the relationship between two parameters.
METHODS:
Semen data from the volunteers of sperm donors in Human Sperm Bank of Peking University Third Hospital were collected using a retrospective study method. The subjects were divided into 4 seasonal groups based on the lunar solar terms and the time of sperm donation. The data were assessed to find whether there were differences in semen parameters among different seasonal groups, and to analyze the change trends and the influence of seasonal factors on semen parameters.
RESULTS:
A total of 21 174 semen parameter data were analyzed. Firstly, to analyze all data as a whole, in spring, summer, autumn and winter groups, sperm concentration was (106.04±59.67)×106/mL, (97.61±47.41)×106/mL, (100.18±47.17)×106/mL, (100.59±38.68)×106/mL, respectively, and the spring group was significantly higher than the other 3 seasonal groups (P < 0.001); proportion of progressive motility sperm (PR) was 56.49%±12.76%, 58.02%±13.65%, 58.05%±12.36%, and 57.66%±12.61%, respectively, spring group was lower than the other three seasonal groups, and summer group was better among the latter (P < 0.001). There was no difference in normal rate of sperm morphology among the four seasonal groups. The qualified rate of sperm donors in the winter group was higher than that in the other three seasons groups (P < 0.01), while the qualified rate in the summer group was lower than that in the other three seasons groups. In addition, the semen parameters of the volunteers during the screening period and the official sperm donation period were analyzed respectively, which revealed that sperm concentration of spring group was higher than that of summer and winter groups, and PR was lower than that of summer and autumn groups. On account of the semen parameters of official sperm donation period, multiple linear regression analysis found that season was the main factor affecting sperm concentration, the average sperm concentration in spring group was about 6×106/mL higher than in winter group, but PR was 2.9% lower in spring group compared with autumn group (all P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
Season was the influencing factor of semen quality of sperm donors in Beijing area. We recommend spring and winter may be the preferred seasons for sperm donation.

Objective: Compare and analyze the results of the domestic Lanyi AH600 glycated hemoglobin analyzer and other different detection systems to understand the comparability of the detection results of different detectors, and establish the best cut point of Lanyi AH600 determination of haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) in the diagnosis of diabetes. Methods: Multi center cohort study was adopted. The clinical laboratory departments of 18 medical institutions independently collected test samples from their respective hospitals from March to April 2022, and independently completed comparative analysis of the evaluated instrument (Lanyi AH600) and the reference instrument HbA1c. The reference instruments include four different brands of glycosylated hemoglobin meters, including Arkray, Bio-Rad, DOSOH, and Huizhong. Scatter plot was used to calculate the correlation between the results of different detection systems, and the regression equation was calculated. The consistency analysis between the results of different detection systems was evaluated by Bland Altman method. Consistency judgment principles: (1) When the 95% limits of agreement (95% LoA) of the measurement difference was within 0.4% HbA1c and the measurement score was≥80 points, the comparison consistency was good; (2) When the measurement difference of 95% LoA exceeded 0.4% HbA1c, and the measurement score was≥80 points, the comparison consistency was relatively good; (3) The measurement score was less than 80 points, the comparison consistency was poor. The difference between the results of different detection systems was tested by paired sample T test or Wilcoxon paired sign rank sum test; The best cut-off point of diabetes was analyzed by receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC). Results: The correlation coefficient R2 of results between Lanyi AH600 and the reference instrument in 16 hospitals is≥0.99; The Bland Altman consistency analysis showed that the difference of 95% LoA in Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital in Jiangsu Province (reference instrument: Arkray HA8180) was -0.486%-0.325%, and the measurement score was 94.6 points (473/500); The difference of 95% LoA in the Tibetan Traditional Medical Hospital of TAR (reference instrument: Bio-Rad Variant II) was -0.727%-0.612%, and the measurement score was 89.8 points; The difference of 95% LoA in the People's Hospital of Chongqing Liang Jiang New Area (reference instrument: Huizhong MQ-2000PT) was -0.231%-0.461%, and the measurement score was 96.6 points; The difference of 95% LoA in the Taihe Hospital of traditional Chinese Medicine in Anhui Province (reference instrument: Huizhong MQ-2000PT) was -0.469%-0.479%, and the measurement score was 91.9 points. The other 14 hospitals, Lanyi AH600, were compared with 4 reference instrument brands, the difference of 95% LoA was less than 0.4% HbA1c, and the scores were all greater than 95 points. The results of paired sample T test or Wilcoxon paired sign rank sum test showed that there was no statistically significant difference between Lanyi AH600 and the reference instrument Arkray HA8180 (Z=1.665,P=0.096), with no statistical difference. The mean difference between the measured values of the two instruments was 0.004%. The comparison data of Lanyi AH600 and the reference instrument of all other institutions had significant differences (all P<0.001), however, it was necessary to consider whether it was within the clinical acceptable range in combination with the results of the Bland-Altman consistency analysis. The ROC curve of HbA1c detected by Lanyi AH600 in 985 patients with diabetes and 3 423 patients with non-diabetes was analyzed, the area under curve (AUC) was 0.877, the standard error was 0.007, and the 95% confidence interval 95%CI was (0.864, 0.891), which was statistically significant (P<0.001). The maximum value of Youden index was 0.634, and the corresponding HbA1c cut point was 6.235%. The sensitivity and specificity of diabetes diagnosis were 76.2% and 87.2%, respectively. Conclusion: Among the hospitals and instruments currently included in this study, among these four hospitals included Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital in Jiangsu Province (reference instrument: Arkray HA8180), Tibetan Traditional Medical Hospital of TAR (reference instrument: Bio-Rad Variant Ⅱ), the People's Hospital of Chongqing Liang Jiang New Area (reference instrument: Huizhong MQ-2000PT), and the Taihe Hospital of traditional Chinese Medicine in Anhui Province (reference instrument: Huizhong MQ-2000PT), the comparison between Lanyi AH600 and the reference instruments showed relatively good consistency, while the other 14 hospitals involved four different brands of reference instruments: Arkray, Bio-Rad, DOSOH, and Huizhong, Lanyi AH600 had good consistency with its comparison. The best cut point of the domestic Lanyi AH600 for detecting HbA1c in the diagnosis of diabetes is 6.235%.
