Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2006;27(10):1052-1055
Objective: To assess the relationship between pre-transplantation α-fetoprotein messenger (AFP) RNA expression in peripheral blood with tumor recurrence and survival rate in HCC patients. Methods: Thirty-one HCC patients receiving in situ liver transplantation from Feb. 2003 to Feb. 2004 were included in this study. Real-time quantitative RT-PCR was used to determine the expression level of AFP RNA in peripheral blood of all patients. All the cases were followed up for tumor recurrence and survival rate. The SPSS 12.0 software was used to analyze the relationship between AFP mRNA expression with tumor recurrence and survival rate. Results: Ten of the 31 patients were positive of AFP mRNA, with the quantity being 57 to 10 400 copies/μg RNA (median value: 360 copies/ μg RNA). Patients' Child-pugh grade, tumor size, tumor number, and tumor Edmood grade were not related to pre-transplantation AFP mRNA expression. Patients of pTNM III-IV stages had a significantly higher AFP mRNA expression than those of pTNM I-II stages (P=0.001); patients with vascular invasion had a significantly higher expression than those without (P=0.029). Patients who were negative of AFP mRNA before transplantation had a significantly higher survival rate than those positive of AFP mRNA. Conclusion: The results suggest that the pre-transplantation levels of AFP mRNA in peripheral blood may be a risk factor for recurrence and/or metastasis after transplantation in HCC patients; it may also be an indicator for extra-hepatic micrometastasis before transplantation and can be used for predicting prognosis.

AIMTo study the mechanisms of sodium ferulate (SF) on inhibition of collagen synthesis in hepatic stellate cells.
METHODSCollagen synthesis was analyzed by measuring 3H-proline incorporation. ELISA method was used to study the effect of SF on transforming growth factor beta1 (TGFbeta1) level in cultured HSC-T6 cell. The effect of SFon the TGFbeta1 activity in the supernatant of culture was analyzed by mink lung epithelial cell (Mv1Lu) proliferation inhibition by MTT assay.
RESULTSSF inhibited collagen synthesis in hepatic stellate cells stimulated with TGFbeta1. SF was shown to decrease TGFbeta1 level in the supernatant of HSC-T6 increased by oxidative stress. TGFbeta1 activity was intervened by SF.
CONCLUSIONSF could decrease collagen synthesis, with mechanism may be associated with that SF intervened TGFbeta1 activity, and reduced the level of TGFbeta1 increased by oxidative stress.

Objective To compare and analyze the occurrence of delayed cerebral ischemia(DCI)after coiling and clipping of intracranial aneurysms, and explore the risk factors of DCI. Methods A total of 236 patients with aneurysms diagnosed by CT angiography (CTA) or digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in Department of Neurosurgery, Tianjin Medical University General Hospital were enrolled in this study from March 2011 to May 2014. Patients were divided into clipping group(n=135) and coiling group(n=101). The clinical characteristics were compared between two groups, including gender, age, medical history, GCS score, Hunt-Hess grade, Fisher grade, WFNS grade, aneurysm location, prognosis and incidence of DCI. Risk factors for DCI were investigated by Logistic regression analysis. Results DCI was occurred in 36 patients (26.7%) underwent clipping operation while in 11 patients (10.9%) underwent coiling operation. The incidence was significantly higher in clipping group compared with that of coiling group (P <0.01). The patients were followed up for 6 months. The poor prognosis rates were 17.0%and 25.7%in clipping group and coiling group, respectively (P>0.01). The overall mortality was 11.0%, the former had a lower mortality rate (5.9% vs. 17.8%, P <0.01). According to Logistic regression analysis, Fisher Grade 3-4, postoperative pulmonary infection and surgical procedure were independent risk factors for DCI (P<0.01). Conclusion DCI is one of the most significant factors for high fatality and morbidity of postoperative aneurysm patients. There is a low occurrence of DCI after coiling compared with that of clipping. If we pay more attention to risk factors associated with the DCI, it will improve the prognosis of postoperative aneurysm patients greatly.

Objective To analyze the stage characteristics in the exercise behavior improvement of college students and explore the role of Process in the exercise behavior change based on the transtheoretical model, providing basis for the stage-matched intervention for the exercise behavior of college students. Methods There were 932 students who completed the questionnaires, from 5 universities in Shanxi Province were selected by using a stratified random cluster sampling method. Descriptive analysis was used to describe the exercise behavior of college students. Variance analysis and multivariate Logistic regression model were used to analyze the difference of the process of with stage of change among college students’ physical exercise. Multivariate variance analysis was used to analyze how personal characteristics affect process of change. Results Among all participants, 89.4% students knew the importance of physical exercise, and 29.4% students were satisfied with their physical exercise condition. The distribution of students’ physical exercise stage showed an inverted U-shape with left-side peak, and there was a significant difference between gender( 2=54.657, P<0.001). There were significant stage characteristics in the process of students' exercise behavior, gender had a significant main effects on mutual aid relation(F=7.400, P=0.07)and conscious control (F=7.778, P=0.005), gender and grade had interaction effects on social release (F=3.614, P=0.013). Conclusions The college students' exercise behavior showed the characteristics of “knowing but not to do”, which conformed to the Transtheoretical model. It is essential to develop targeted phased exercise intervention strategies according to the relationship between change of phase and change of procedure.

OBJECTIVE:To study the hemorheological paramenters in rat with hepatic fibrosis. METHODS:Hepatic fibrosis in rat was induced by CCl4 treatment. Whole blood viscosity, plasma viscosity, Hematocrit(Hct) and dynamic parameters of red blood cell(RBC) were investigated. RESULTS:As compared with the normal group, the hemorheological parameters such as whole blood viscosity, plasma viscosity, Hematocrit(Hct), RBC's aggregation and rigidity were increased obviously. CONCLUSION:High blood vicosity and low RBC's deformation ability can lead to blood circulation obstacle, thus will aggravate hepatic fibrosis.
