Sheng's acupuncture manipulation at bone-nearby acupoints is a set of needling manipulation of the chief physician of TCM, SHENG Xie-sun, summarized through his over 50 years clinical experiences and on the basis of Internal Classic. Regarding this manipulation, on the premise of acupoint selection based on syndrome differentiation, the acupoints close to bone are possibly selected and punctured, with the needle tip toward bone edge, and followed by the technique to achieve reducing purpose. Clinically, the significant immediate analgesia can be achieved in pain disorders such as headache and toothache. Professor Sheng thought, corresponding to the location of needle insertion and needling depth, the tissue layers of needle tip passing through should be considered specially. The site of needle insertion should be changeable so as to ensure the needle tip reaching the bone. This manipulation for analgesia provides a certain guide for acupuncture study, especially for the mechanism study on acupuncture analgesia.

Objective: To study the distribution of Langerhans cell (LC) in oral lichen planuss (OLP). Methods: LCs in oral mucosa samples were examined with monoclonal CD1a antibody and an immunohistochemical technique(LAB method) in 35 cases of OLP and 6 cases of health control. Objective To explore the clinical value of gastric bare area (GBA) for the prognosis of gastric fundus and cardia carcinoma.Methods The data of 82 patients with gastric fundus and cardia carcinoma from January 2010 to December 2011 were retrospectively analyzed.The patients were divided into group A (49 cases) with cancer cell invasion in GBA and group B (33 cases) without invasion in GBA.All the patients underwent D2 gastrectomy plus surgical resection of GBA and were treated by 6 cycles of postoperative FOLFOX-4 chemotherapy scheme.Postoperative follow-up and survival analysis were carried out for patients in both groups.Results According to survival analysis (Kaplan-Meier method),the postoperative 1-,2-and 3-year cumulative survival rates of the patients in group A were 91.8 ％,57.3 ％ and 29.0 ％,respectively,while those of the patients in group B were 93.9 ％,75.0 ％ and 48.2 ％,respectively.The median survival times of the patients in group A and group B were 27.0 months and 36.0 months,respectively,which was demonstrated existing statistical significance(X2 =4.972,P =0.026).Conclusions The prognosis of gastric fundus and cardia carcinoma patients with invasion in GBA by cancer cells is poor.Surgical resection of GBA may help to improve the prognosis of the patients with gastric fundus and cardia carcinoma.

Objective:To explore the relationship between tissue factor (TF),tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) and the severity in patients with diabetic cerebral infarction.Methods: 226 patients with diabetic cerebral infarction were included into the study,National Institute of Health Stroke Scale ( NIHSS) was used to evaluate the severity of CIS.The single factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to explore the relationship between TF , TFPI and the severity.Results: The concentrations of TF,TFPI,TF/TFPI,cholesterol and triglyceride in the NIHSS≤12 group were significantly lower than that in the NIHSS>12 group ( P<0.05);the NIHSS was significantly positive correlate with TF (r=0.354,P=0.012),TFPI (r=0.302,P=0.027),TF/TFPI (r=0.410,P=0.000),cholesterol (r=0.364,P=0.006) and triglycerides (r=0.334,P=0.018);Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the TF , TFPI, TF/TFPI, cholesterol were independent risk factors of the severity in patients with diabetic cerebral infarction.Conclusion:The level of TF and TFPI could reflect the severity in patients with diabetic cerebral infarction according to the NIHSS.

Objective To investigate effects of compound LJZ on antitumor activity and immune function in mice bearing implanted tumor in vivo.Methods The antitumor effects on the sarcoma 180(S180) and hepatoma 22(H22) bearing in mice were evaluated by weight of tumor.The effects of compound LJZ on specific immunity function were observed by delayed-type hypersensitivity(DTH) response induced by 2,4-dinitro-1-fluorobenzene(DNFB)and the effects of compound LJZ on non-specific immunity function were studied by macrophage phagocytosing neutral red.Results Compound LJZ inhibited significantly the growth of S180 and H22 bearing in mice,and showed dose-dependent relationship.Compound LJZ could enhance the phagocytic capacity of macrophage in bearing S180 mice.But it had no effect on DTH.Conclusion Compound LJZ has significant antitumor effects in vivo,and the effects on phagocytic capacity of macrophage maybe one of its antitumor mechanisms.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of aqueous extract of Taxus chinensis var. mairei (AETC) combined Erlotnib on the growth of A549 xenograft in nude mice and its mechanism.

METHODSThe xenograft model in nude mice was established by inoculating A549 cells subcutaneously. BALB/c nude mice bearing A549 xenograft were randomly divided into six groups, i.e., the low dose Erlotinib group (A) , the standard dose Erlotnib group (B) , the low dose Erlotinib combined AETC group (C), the standard dose Erlotnib combined AETC group (D), the AETC group (E), the control group (F), 12 in each group. Different medication was performed for 7 successive weeks after 24 h. One mL blood was withdrawn and tumor tissues taken. The tumor inhibition rate was calculated. The combined effect was analyzed by Jin's Formula [Q = Ea + b/(Ea + Eb-Ea x Eb) ]. mRNA and protein expression levels of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and B cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) in xenografts were detected using real-time RT-PCR and ELISA.

RESULTSCompared with Group F, the xenograft weight was obviously lowered in Group B-E (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). The q value was 0.92 in Group C and 0.96 in Group D, which was obtained by simple adding of the two drugs. Compared with Group F, EG- FR mRNA expression in Group D and E, COX-2 mRNA expression in Group A-E; Bcl-2 mRNA expression in Group B-D; COX-2 protein expression in Group B-E; Bcl-2 protein expression in Group C and D were obviously lowered with statistical difference (P < 0.05, P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONSAETC combined low dose and standard dose Erlotinib had synergistic effect on tumor inhibition. Its mechanism might be associated with down-regulating mRNA and protein expression levels of COX-2 and Bcl-2.

Hyperlipidemia is an important risk factor of cardio-/cerebrovascular disease, and reducing lipids has become an important project for itsclinical preventing and treating. Western medicine, with its confirmative efficacy and clear mechanism, has played an irreplaceable role. Along with the development of modern medicine, integrative medicine has gradually become a growing trend in regulating blood lipids metabolism. It not only could make up the insufficient power for Chinese medicine in lowering lipids, but also could reduce adverse reactions and economic costs brought by long-term administration of Western medicine. As a modern practitioner of Chinese medicine, we should keep clear that integrative medicine regulating blood lipids metabolism does not mean a simple combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine. We should treat it guided by systematic theories. We combine disease identification and syndrome differentiation, guide lipids lowering by integrative medicine including selecting Western drugs for blood lipids lowering, Chinese medical prescriptions for syndrome typing, and effective Chinese herbs based on modern pharmacologies.

ObjectiveDahl salt-sensitive (Dahl/SS) rats are hereditary salt-sensitive hypertensive rats.Its pathogenesis is similar to that of human primary hypertension,CPB established in Dahl/SS rats provides an animal model for the study of CPB in patients with primary hypertension.MethodsMale 14-16 weeks old Dahl/SS rats weighing 360-390 g were fed with high salt (8％ NaCl) diet for 4 weeks before the experiment.Ten Dahl/SS rats were randomly divided into 2 groups ( n =5 each) according to the CPB time:groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ underwent CPB for 120 and 75 min respectively.Another 7 male 14-16 weeks old ordinary SD rats weighing 410-490 g undergoing CPB for 120 min were used as control group (group Ⅰ ).Anesthesia was induced with isoflurane inhalation.Orotraeheal intubation was performed.The animals were mechanically ventilated.Right jugular vein and tail artery were cannulated for venous drainage and arterial inflow from CPB circuit.Blood was oxygenated with a customized mini-oxygenator.Blood gases were analyzed and blood glucose concentration was determined.MAP was recorded before (baseline) and at 30 and 60 min of CPB and 30 and 90 min after CPB.The rate of changes in MAP and blood glucose concentration and survival rate at 7 d after termination of CPB were recorded.ResultsThere was no significant difference in blood gases among the 3 groups.The rates of change in MAP and blood glucose concentration were significantly higher during and after CPB in Dahl/SS rats than in control SD rats in a duration of CPB dependent manner.The survival rate at 7 d after CPB was 7/7 (in group Ⅰ ),1/5 (in group Ⅱ ) and 4/5 (in group Ⅲ ) respectively.ConclusionA model of 75 min CPB is established successfully in Dahl/SS rats.

BACKGROUND:Immunity of fetal liver stem cel transplantation is rarely reported, syngeneic and al ogeneic fetal liver stem cel transplantation in the treatment of hepatic cirrhosis is stil unclear.
OBJECTIVE:To observe the therapeutic effects of syngeneic and al ogeneic fetal liver stem cel transplantation on hepatic cirrhosis as wel as immune rejections during the therapeutic process.
METHODS:The fetal liver stem/progenitor cel s from BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice were isolated and purified by the type IV col agen enzyme digestion method. A total of 104 healthy BALB/c mice were randomly assigned to four groups. Normal control group:no treatment;Hepatic cirrhosis group, syngeneic transplantation group and al ogeneic transplantation group:16 weeks after hepatic cirrhosis models of mice were developed by intraperitoneal injection with carbon tetrachloride, physiological saline, syngeneic fetal liver stem cel s and al ogeneic fetal liver stem cel s were injected via the caudal vein. Final y, the survival statuses, liver function, hepatic fibrosis index, the number and ratio of immune cel s (CD4+T, CD8+T, NK, NKT) and histopathologic examinations were compared in each group after transplantation 4 weeks.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The survival rates in the two transplantation groups were both 100%, which was significantly higher than that in the hepatic cirrhosis group (67%, P<0.05). The liver function and liver fibrosis index in each group did not show statistical differences (P>0.05). Immunological tests showed no difference between groups (P>0.05). Pathohistology examination of hepatic tissue repair:Al ogeneic transplantation group>syngeneic transplantation group>hepatic cirrhosis group. Hence, fetal liver stem cel transplantation via the caudal vein could elevate the survival rate of hepatic cirrhosis mice, al eviate the degree of hepatocyte necrosis. There is no immunologic rejection during syngeneic and al ogeneic fetal liver stem cel transplantation that could help to treat hepatic cirrhosis in mice.
