OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for the development of pharmaceutical care for periconceptional women. METH-ODS:Probability proportionate to size sampling(PPS)method was adopted to select participants from periconceptional women in Yongchuan District. The participants were investigated by questionnaires about drug use safety knowledge, attitude and behavior. Ep-idata 3.0 software was used to establish database. The data were analyzed with SPSS 15.0 software. RESULTS:Totally 800 ques-tionnaires were distributed and then 779 valid questionnaires were collected with effective rate of 97.38%. The total awareness rate of knowledge about drug use safety was 57.69%. The awareness rate rise with the increase of educational level (P<0.01). The awareness rate was higher in pregnant women than in prepregnant ones, with statistical significance in most of the questions(P<0.05 or P<0.01). For questions about attitude for drug use safety, the positive answer rate was higher in pregnant women than in prepregnant ones, with statistical significance in most of the questions (P<0.01). Among 385 pregnant women, only 56.88% re-ceived folic acid following the WHO recommendation. Of 181 pregnant women who had taken medicine,8.29% indicated that the physicians or pharmacists did not inform that whether the medicine affected pregnancy. CONCLUSIONS:Among periconceptional women, awareness rate of drug use safety is in low level and varied by their educational levels. There are difference in awareness rate of drug use safety and attitude between prepregnant women and pregnant woman. Drug use behavior of pregnant woman is to be modified.

Elemene is a new anticancer drug isolated from a Chinese traditional medicine Curcuma aromatica. In previous work, we discovered that tumor cell vaccine (TCV) treated with oleum Curcuma aromatica or elemene could induce significant immunoprophylactic effect against a variety of aminal tumor strains and the method of preparation of elemene combo-TCV(EC-TCV) already got China's inventive patent. In this paper we further studied the active immunotherapeutic effect and the possible cellular/molecular mechanisms of EC-TCV immunization. The results were as follows:(1) EC-TCV immunization showed significant therapeutic effects (P<0.05) against murine Ca761 syngeneic mammary carcinoma (H-2k) and HCa-F allogeneic hepatic carcinoma (H-2-) models; (2) The spleen cells of Hca-F EC-TCV immunized mice displayed higher cytotoxicity and IL-12 level while the secretion of IL-10 was decreased (P<0.05); (3) Similar to heat shock, elemene(E), mitomycin C(MMC) and glutaraldehyde (G) could act alone as stressor, and induce significant changes of the expression of membrane heat shock proteins(HSP70 or/and HSP90) on L615 leukemia and HCa-F hepatoma cells and the EC-TCVs (E+MMC+G treated in combination) showed the highest level of membrane HSPs expression (P<0.05 or P<0.01 );(4) The HSP70-peptide complex isolated from HCa-F EC-TCV through ADP-agarose affinity chromatographic system could induce active immunoprotection against lethal dose challenge of HCa-F hepatic cancer cell but could not protect against the cross challenge of lethal dose of L615 leukemia. The results indicated that the immunoprotective effect of EC-TCV was in some extent tumor-specific, MHC-nonrestricted, and HSPs might play an important role in its molecular mechanisms.

BACKGROUND:Exercise can elicit generation of coronary col ateral circulation through numerous pro-angiogenic growth factors. It is not enough via a single factor to clearly definite signaling pathways for the generation of col ateral circulation. Many pro-angiogenic growth factors are involved in kal ikrein-kinin system, and there is no report about exercise effects on this system.
OBJECTIVE:To study effects of exercise training on bradykinin expression in rats with myocardial infarction.
METHODS:Thirty Wistar rats were randomly assigned to control group, myocardial infarction group and exercises training group. Rats in the control group were subjected to thoracotomy with no coronary artery ligation. Rats in the other two groups were modeled. In the exercise training group, 3 days after myocardial infarction, rats were subjected to 30-minute exercise training on treadmil , once a day for 4 weeks. At the terminal of the experiment, blood samples were obtained to analyze bradykinin expression by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, and the myocardium was sampled to analyze relative blood flow by microsphere method.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After exercise training, bradykinin level in the exercise training group was significantly higher than that in the myocardial infarction group (P<0.001). At the end of experiment, the relative blood flows of the exercise training and myocardial infarction groups were both increased compared with before experiment (P<0.05, P<0.001). At the end of experiment, the relative blood flow of the exercise training group was significantly higher than that of the myocardial infarction group (P<0.01). In al the three groups, bradykinin level was significantly correlated with the relative blood flow in the myocardium. These findings indicate exercises training can improve bradykinin expression apparently and increase blood flow in the myocardium, which il ustrates that the kal ikrein-kinin system plays an important role in exercise induced angiogenesis.

Objective To study the therapeutic effect of sea buckthorn oil on allergic contact dermatitis(ACD) in mice. Methods A total of 60 ICR mice were randomly divided into 6 groups: blank control group, model control group, three groups of high-dose, medium-dose and low-dose sea buckthorn oil(100%, 50%, 25%, ad us. ext.), respectively, and positive control group(compound dexamethasone acetate cream), with 10 mice in each group. The mouse model of ACD was established by sensitization and stimulation with 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene(DNCB),and injuries in the ear skin of the mice were scored and used as the indicator of successful establishment of the model. The degree of ear swelling and the spleen index of the mice in each group were measured at 48 h after stimulation. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was used to observe the pathological changes in the mouse ear skin. Results Measurement of the degrees of ear swelling showed that the high-dose sea buckthorn oil group(9 mL/kg,ad us. ext.)obviously inhibited the DNCB-induced ear swelling in the mice, with a significant difference compared with the model group(P < 0.01)and non-significant difference compared with the positive control group(P> 0.05). The result of the spleen index assessment showed that sea buckthorn oil at each dose may play an immune-regulatory role by promoting the development of immune organs. The pathological examination showed that epidermis thickening of the ear tissue, epidermal and dermal edema and infiltration of lymphocytes were reduced, dermal vasodilatation and congestion were alleviated, and inflammatory cell infiltration was inhibited in the three groups of different doses of sea buckthorn oil compared with the model control group. Conclusions Sea buckthorn oil has an obvious inhibitory effect on the DNCB-induced allergic contact dermatitis in mice. However, its related mechanisms remain to be further investigated.
