1.?-Synuclein Aggregation and Parkinson's Disease: Factors Affecting The Aggregation of ?-Synuclein
Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(04):-
Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most frequent neurodegenerative disorders. ?-Synuclein was the first"PD gene"to be discovered. The involvement of ?-synuclein in PD was first suspected after two different ?-synuclein mutations were identified in two kindreds with autosomal-dominant PD. However, the discovery that ?-synuclein is the major component of Lewy bodies-pathological hallmarks of PD, confirmed its role in PD pathogenesis. Pathological aggregation of ?-synuclein might be responsible for neurodegeneration. Multiple factors have been shown to affect ?-synuclein aggregation in vitro or in vivo. In addition, soluble oligomers of ?-synuclein might be even more toxic than the insoluble fibrils found in degenerative diseases. So it is significant to investigate factors affecting ?-synuclein aggregation, especially their accurate effects on the aggregation process.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1994;0(04):-
Objective To explore the clinical significance of detection of IL-17 and peripheral blood eosinophil(EOS) count in whee-zing children under 5 years old. Methods Fifty-three children with recurrent wheezing under 5 years old had been randomly enrolled including 43 boys and 10 girls. They were divided into 2 groups :wheezing group Ⅰ,in which, the patients with atopic high risks(n=27);whee-zing group Ⅱ,in which, the patients without atopic high risks(n=26).Children without infectious diseases such as hernia and renal calculus had been enrolled randomly as control group(n=20),including 11 boys and 9 girls. After taking 3 mL venous blood and centrifuging of patients in 3 groups, the level of IL-17 in the serum was measured by double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, peripheral blood EOS count was performed in the meantime by means of eosine staining. Results The serum levels of IL-17 in wheezing groups [(1 469.315?978.300) ng?L-1,(263.340?131.800) ng?L-1]were significantly higher than that of control group[(36.478?2.000) ng?L-1](Pa0.05);serum IL-17 and peripheral blood EOS count had positive correlation(r=0.933,P

Objective To explore therapeutic effects and indications of stereotatic puncture and drainage under multi-parameter orientation in the treatment of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage(HICH).Methods A total of 56 patients with HICH underwent stereotatic puncture and drainage from October 2003 to May 2005.The entrance position, the puncture plane, the puncture angle and depth, and the length of side hole of drainage tube were accurately designed before operation, and,if necessary, multiple drainage tubes were introduced via one hole. Results According to the Glasgow Outcome Scale(GOS) scores,12 patients recovered well(21.4%),29 patients were moderate disability(51.8%),and 12 patients were severe disability(21.4%).No longstanding coma was noted.Three patients died(5.4%). Conclusions Stereotatic puncture and drainage under multi-parameter orientation has better therapeutic effects and less damages than open operation. The procedure is suitable for 10~60 ml hematoma, especially in elderly patients and deep-located hematoma. The best operation timing is 3~6 hours after the onset of hemorrhage.

Objective To explore the clinical value of CT-guided selective radiofrequency thermocoagulation of the semilunar ganglion for the treatment of primary trigeminal neuralgia(PTN).Methods A total of 24 patients with PTN were included.Under local anesthesia and CT guidance, the semilunar ganglion was punctured by way of the oval foramen via the anterior approach using the Hartel's technique.Selective radiofrequency thermocoagulation was performed after the targets were confirmed by electrical stimulation. Results The pain was completely relieved in 18 patients, partially relieved in 5 patients, and unchanged in 1 patient, the total effective rate being 95.8%(23/24).Follow-up observations for 3~18 months(mean,12 months) in the 24 patients showed recurrence in 2 patients(8.3%).Conclusions CT-guided selective radiofrequency thermocoagulation is a safe, simple, and effective option for the treatment of PTN,especially suitable for the elderly and high-risk patients.

Objective Retrospective analysis of clinical features, treatment results and prognostic factors in 19 patients with anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). Methods Diagnostic and treatment data of 19 patients with ALCL from Jan 2003 to Feb 2007 were analyzed. Results Among the sample group, 18 patients (94.74 %) shows B-symptoms, extranodal involvement is present in 14 patients (73.7 %), clinical misdiagnosis rate reaches 84.2 %. The overall response rate to chemotherapy is 100 %, complete remission rate after 6 courses chemotherapy were 95 %, the probabilities of event free survival at 1 and 2 years were both 88.2 %, relapse occurred in one case. Conclusion In the studied group, majority of ALCL patients have B-symptom. Extranodal involvement is present earlier, and clinical misdiagnosis rate is high. While it' s found that ALCL is sensitive to chemotherapy and tend to get good prognosis.

Objective To investigate the relationship between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in elderly patients. Methods 50 elderly BPH men with NAFLD were enrolled in this study, while 30 age-matched BPH men without NAFLD were selected as the control group.Prostate volume (PV),body mass index (BMI),triglycerides (TG),fasting blood glucose (FBG),fasting plasma insulin (FINS) and homeostasis model of assessment for insulin resistanceindex (HOMA-IR) were compared between the two groups, and correlations of PV with FINS and HOMA-IR were analyzed in the NAFLD patients. Results The PV level was significantly higher in NAFLD patients than in control group [(48.2±16.3) ml vs.(33.2± 11.5) ml,P<0.01].The incidence of severe BPH was higher in NAFLD group than in control group (42.2% vs.13.3%,P<0.05).BMI,TG,FBG,FINS and HOMA IR were higher in NAFLD group than in the control group (all P<0.01).The PV was positively correlated with FINS and HOMA-IR levels in elderly NAFLD patients (r=0.814,0.601,respectively,both P< 0.01).Conclusions NAFLD is closely associated with BPH in elderly males, and NAFLD may be one of the risk factors for BPH.

Journal of Clinical Pediatrics 2013;(10):946-948
Objective To explore the relationship of red blood cell distribution width (RDW) with severity and prognosis in children with sepsis. Methods The RDW, clinical features and prognosis of 494 sepsis children were retrospectively ana-lyzed. Results The RDW was increased in 305 sepsis children (61.74%) among whom 49.30%in sepsis group, 60.27%in sever sepsis group and 83.46%in septic shock group. The difference was signiifcant (P<0.001). The mortality of RDW increased children among three groups was 1.89%, 20.45%, 67.57%, and it was signiifcantly different (P<0.001). The rates of increased RDW was 56.15%in 374 survived cases and 79.17%in 120 died cases, and the difference was signiifcant (P<0.001). Pediatric critical illness score (PCIS) was negatively correlated with RDW (P<0.001), while mortality was positively correlated with RDW (P<0.001). Conclusions The rate of increased RDW is high in children with severe sepsis and septic shock and the level of RDW is closely related to the prognosis of patients.
